My experience related to a relatively small DB Pension (cash) transfer into my SIPP. This required the services of a specialist authorised PT financial advisor, which was necessary under various regulations, before the transfer could take place.

There seem relatively few such specialist financial advisers who will undertake this work and after extensive searching I shortlisted 5 candidates and after various discussions appointed Haven Protect.

Their service as excellent from explaining precisely what was required during the process and all their accompanying paperwork/documentation. Two items I would highlight: first communication and response time was good and secondly their due diligence on my financial circumstances was impressive.

My initial contact was with Connor Tarry, who completed everything to the conclusion of the due diligence process and subsequently with Jade Iles who oversaw the completion of the required paperwork that was submitted to the SIPP provider. She was clearly familiar with what was required.

Haven's flat fee was reasonable, compared to some. I would not hesitate to recommend Haven to anyone seeking to undertake a similar DB transfer.

Haven Protect were recommended to me by my accountants after I’d approached them for pensions advice that they are not able to provide.

At the time I had legacy employee and personal pensions, ISAs and other forms of investment, plus I’ve a few more working years ahead of me, but was unsure about my best retirement strategy. Haven Protect advised and facilitated a consolidation of my pensions funds that I believe suits my circumstances.

I felt that their advice was balanced, in terms of being open about the advantages/disadvantages of the available options, and the supporting information (including fees charged) was clear.

I was preparing for retirement and facing some very important decisions about a mixed economy of pensions from a thirty year career in private and public organisations.

Haven have been superb from start to finish. I had already obtained a transfer valuation (CETV), but by the time I finally understood the complex process and hurdles involved, I had only 7 weeks left before it was set to expire. I knew that a new CETV would be much lower (because of interest rate changes & expectations), but firms were quoting up to 9 months. So I whittled down the list of "Gold" specialists to three, using reviews on here.

The moment I spoke to Haven, I knew I had found the right one. My advisor, Ian Barlow, inspired great confidence during the initial call - in his knowledge, listening skills, and efficiency. I had already done extensive research, so he immediately set up dates for the triage, fact find, and stage one calls/meetings. At every stage he was open, helpful, proactive, dependable and thorough. His advice was clear and sound, and he was always ready to admit and check if there was anything he was unsure of.

Mark Tarry handled the case as the qualified PTS (pension transfer specialist), and I met both Ian and Mark face to face for the stage one and two (ie. final) meetings. I'm a mathematician, so I had detailed questions about the final report / modelling and the tax position. Mark was immediately ready to listen, understand and discuss them.

I have learned a great deal throughout. But best of all, and quite remarkably, we met the deadline - despite it being around Xmas (28 Dec) and many snags along the way. It took another 6 weeks for the actual transfer to complete, but I could rest easy, knowing that the original CETV was definitely going ahead.

I've had mixed experiences with (other) advisors over the years, but I have no hesitation in highly recommending Haven, especially for such a complex process and important decision.

I found Haven listed on a government pensions advise site, listing them as a transfer specialist, so felt less trepidation contacting them in light of all the pension scam stories of late. After a bit of further due diligence on my part and after contacting a drawn up short list of 3 others, I decided to proceed with them.

I found them professional, friendly and took great lengths to ensure I understood each stage of the process. The outcome I sought was quickly achieved (due in part to the scheme administrators swift transfer) and I was left feeling I had always been in safe hands.
