Don't expect a repair!

Very unhelpful when it comes to repairs. My bathroom cabinet light stopped working after 8 years because the IR switch unit failed. HIB said that the spare part was no longer available and could not help, but after looking inside and finding the part number I was able to source the EXACT same unit online for £25. It turns out that it's an industry standard switch unit for bathroom cabinets.

I guess they don't want to do repairs but I wish they would be honest and say that.

I would be wary about companies that won't repair their own products and lie about the availability of spare parts.

Poor quality and bloody expensive

Bought one of these expensive LED mirrored cabinets when we had our bathroom renovated less than three months ago . One door has already started to deteriorate and so a replacement has been sought. Only problem is this company do not provide any refitting as part of their warranty- so we have to source a fitter again.. Do wish I had seen the reviews on here before purchasing such a poor quality but expensive unit !!!!

HiB under-sink cabinet - not fit for purpose and an expensive mistake

I bought and had fitted a HiB Ovum (Prima 50cm) bathroom under-sink cabinet. Surprisingly, the grey glossy 'skin' the cabinet is covered in is not waterproof so that water has soaked into the MDF(?) material underneath. This has caused the MDF material to swell and look bumpy. I contacted customer service and they can't fix it and no longer supply the cabinet or anything else that would work with the sink size so....that's it... nothing they can or will do. I am now looking at having to replace the whole sink unit and sink which will mean damage/re-tiling, re-painting and the cost of a plumber in addition to replacing the faulty unit.

Excellent customer service

I had an issue with the Bluetooth on my Sound 50 cabinet so I contacted customer services. I spoke to a gentleman called James and i have to say he couldn’t have been any more helpful. He replied to emails straight away and kept me informed at all times he is very knowledgeable and he did everything he could to resolve the problem He is probably the most helpful customer service advisor i have ever come across
Needless to say everything is sorted now and i am more than happy with HiB and especially James. I definitely would recommend HiB cabinets if you want a excellent product and if you are unfortunate enough to have a problem rest assured they have the best customer service you’ll find from any company

Products don't last as long as you might expect

Spent over £800 on one of their cabinets on the promise of top quality.
Less than 3 years later, lighting in one of the doors, which had been intermittently cutting out for some time, failed completely. One of the cabinet contacts no longer springs out to meet the door contact, and although the door can be replaced, the contact on the cabinet itself can't.
Warranty on electrical components is only 2 years, so nothing they can do.
Cabinet spoiled by a tiny piece of metal....

I would give 0 star if I could ,I did not know that I was dealing with Micky Mouse company ,I purchased a mirror cabinet in 2020 and still under warranty.
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the experience I recently had concerning an expensive mirror cabinet I purchased from one of your retailers. As a long-standing customer who has always held HIB in high regard, I am profoundly disappointed with the service I received and feel that my concerns have been unfairly dismissed.
I attempted to exchange the mirror cabinet due to defects, Unfortunately, I have misplaced the original invoice. However, I provided photographic evidence clearly showing that the cabinet is one of their products, including the model number and any other identifying marks. Despite this, the staff refused to facilitate an exchange, leaving me with an expensive item that does not meet my needs or expectations.
I feel as though I am being unfairly punished for a simple mistake the loss of a receipt when it is undeniably clear that the product is manufactured by HIB. As a reputable company known for quality and customer care, I am shocked that this issue was not handled more considerately. This situation is not only inconvenient but also entirely avoidable had your staff been more understanding and solution-oriented.
I respectfully request that you reconsider your position and allow the exchange of the mirror cabinet. I am happy to provide any additional information you may require, including the photos I have already shared with your team. I believe that HIB values its customers and would not want to tarnish its reputation by refusing to resolve what should be a straightforward issue.
Please address this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. I expect a prompt response and a satisfactory resolution. Should this issue remain unresolved, I will have no choice but to reconsider my future purchases from HIB and share my experience with others who might consider buying your products.

Beware noisy products!

Beware noisy products!!

I bought the Ether mirror, I was told these were high quality products. However, after installing i realised the mirror makes a very audible humming noise. I called the retailer, at which point i learnt this is a common problem with their products!! They sent me a new transformer, which I had to ask the electrician to come back and change, which has made it a bit quieter, but there's still a noise. I would definitely not have bought this expensive product had I known it was going to be noisy!! It's very disappointing that we're not warned about this, for what appears a common issue.

Feeling angry loved the HiB cabinet but what I got no. With in months Black spots appeared rang HiB said it was bad air vented sent another picture showing it inches away. With in month’s it appeared again this time I was told it’s the way we cleaned it Rubbish wet clothes then dry. Went to a Glazing firm told to check reviews was I shocked I’m not the only one. Vapor cabinet

I purchased a Vapor cabinet through my bathroom contractor. I was assured HiB products were the best quality hence the high prices. Once fitted there was a constant audible electronic hum. I contacted HiB who to be fair responded promptly and were also available on the phone. However (much to my surprise) it soon became obvious that the unit was not faulty and that I was expected to live with it! I knew I could not and given the cost of the unit all I could ask the electrician to do was to disconnect the power from transformer. This means the shaver/charging socket is now non functioning and redundant. So, before purchasing one of these cabinets do ask yourself if you will find the hum irritating. I think most don't but some will.

We purchased a £450 SOLAS mirror via our local supplier. The electrics were put in place by a qualified experienced electrician. From day 1 this mirror was faulty. The look and light facility was lovely but when switched off it still glowed. As usual, this company blamed the "ghosting" on our electrical supply. We had this double checked and all was fine our end. After some negotiation via our supplier, this company reluctantly agreed to exchange it for another like for like. We saw the email from this company which stated that it was all our fault and if we did not not want the replacement they would only give a credit note. So much for consumer rights bearing in mind it was a few days old ! We took the replacement and this was worse than the first one. The "glow" on the replacement was patchy and to boot it buzzes like a faulty transformer. Because the this companys attitude we have no option but to keep it but we have had an on/off switch inserted so it can be turned off at the mains for nightime use. All in all, dont waste your money, bad product and really difficult company attitude. Will never buy hib again.

Update:
Since posting this review, HIB Product Support invited us to contact them and provide the evidence we had. They have responded very promptly. They offered a third mirror or a full refund. We have taken the refund.

I bought my mirror about six years ago


I bought my mirror about six years ago at a cost of £600.
Within twelve months the led on one mirror failed. Reluctantly they sent a replacement that I had to fit.
Since then the mirror/led has failed three more times! And the fault is the wiring.
Luckily I can fix them.
The wiring can't take frequent opening and closing, at £600 you'd think it would better.

Fantastic customer service

I contacted the company about a broken hinge on a bathroom cabinet. They replied the same day, asking for more details then sent me replacement hinges for free. They then dealt patiently with a series of additional questions about how to fit the replacement hinge, always replying promptly and helpfully. I am thrilled that this sort of customer service still exists - it is so very rare.

Then my bathroom doors were different shades!
Overpriced and low standard.
Don’t trust these cowboys!
IKEA is better quality.

Super caring helpful company

I had a problem with one of their products and called them for help. Spoke to a very knowledgeable guy called James who was super helpful as I didn’t know what was doing.
He explained everything easily and told me to do a few checks and tests to resolve the situation, I was blown away by how he helped me and resolved the problem with care and consideration, he couldnt have done any more to help me. If I was purchasing again in future I would definitely call them first, due to customer care and support after years of previous purchase. Many Thanks !

Customer service, 5+ years later

My Led heated bathroom cabinet left hand door developed an electrical fault over five years after installation. I called and spoke to a Mr Pemberton who assured me the voltage to the doors is to 12v and is a safety feature for the use of electrical equipment in bathrooms. I felt very reassured when I thought about it. After five plus years I think most companies would fob you off with, "its wear and tear ", but no, a new door (which I really was not expecting), has been dispatched. For me personally that is " above and beyond",as far as customer service goes. Thanks again.

Very Poor Quality

Initially we were very pleased with our two new Hib Vapor cabinets and they looked good in our newly refurbished bathrooms. They cost over £1300 for the pair and we looked forward to many years of use. 6 months later the mirrors are starting to develop black spots around the edges and one of the cabinets now makes a constant, irritating, humming noise. The motion sensors have minds of their own and only work when they want to. Hib, via the supplier, have offered new doors and a transformer; they haven't offered an engineer to come and replace the parts for us. And from reading others experiences, it would seem that any replacement parts are likely to fail in a similar timeframe.
We paid a premium price for what we thought was a premium product. Like many other contributors on this site we are sadly disappointed with the product and advise potential purchasers to look elsewhere.

Awful quality, customer service rude and dismissive

Purchased an expensive bathroom light that connects to Bluetooth for music. Before I purchased from a bathroom store, I asked if the salesperson could call HIB to check that the metal plate on the light would not rust with moisture. We were assured that this would not happen . The light is now absolutely covered in rust and fit for the bin. Customer service would not help, were rude and dismissive. Don’t bother wasting your money on their awful products because you will live to regret it. Once they have your money, they are not interested.
