We have used Hills Waste Solutions for our commercial bin collections, and for the most part, their ongoing service has been reliable and fine. However, a recent incident has highlighted a complete lack of accountability.

Our driver reported a "failed collection / no bin presented" due to temporary roadworks nearby. We provided photographic evidence showing our bin was presented as always, along with clear map proof showing that the roadworks were 200m away, the industrial estate was open, and multiple alternative access routes were available. All of which are suitable for Heavy Goods vehicles.

Despite providing undeniable photo and location proof, Hills refused to acknowledge driver error or waive the wasted journey charge.

While the monetary cost of a single collection is minimal, the complete refusal to take ownership of a clear driver oversight (and subsequently charging a customer for a service that wasn't delivered) is deeply frustrating.

It’s a shame, because while day to day collections are usually fine, this level of stubbornness and poor customer resolution makes it very hard to trust them going forward.

Would like to take this opportunity to thank Karen Spearing for a hardwork and perseverance in getting our skip delivered and collected onsite. Firstly we managed to find a solution in having the skip delivered as most drivers were unsure of the trucks being able to drive into Albert Street. On collection day we also had a driver call in sick and Karen managed to find find a relief driver.

Hills Waste Solutions provided our project with a large quantity of clay for our dams and reservoir project. We worked directly with Ryan Payne who was always very helpful with planning the loads being delivered to site as our site was a long distance from Hills. They were also very welcoming when we wanted to attend a site visit at their site. Would happily work with them again in the future.

Sometimes just don’t turn up, today I spoke to them as they were leaving without the bin and they said they wouldn’t take it as already marked the job as failed even though they were parked outside the building.

Receiving Bulk Waste has been a particular success as far as we are concerned. No bad reports back from the haulier means all is well.
Ryan has played a good role in getting this set up.

We tip at Hills on a daily basis and i cannot fault them in any way! the guys on the bridge are lovely and very helpful and the site is tidy and very well organized

Excellent staff, quick and concise transfer of information and orders completed ontime.

Yet again writing a review due to lack of collection. Missed collection one day email saying they will come the next. Did they turn up? Absolutely not… leave us will full bins over a busy weekend. Ring up on Monday promised it would be collected that day. 5:30 comes when I was promised it would collected by and surprise surprise they didn’t come. They that have the audacity to when asked if they will reimburse the over weight fees it was oh we will have to see about that.

We have weekly collections from Hills Waste Solutions for our business general waste and recycling. We found the help provided by Zoe Ratcliff excellent and refreshingly honest. Our regular driver Gary Lapham is friendly and provides a great service. Thanks guys

Friendly staff they are doing the best service

Hills donated our school some compost for our new raised beds. We are delighted that they supported us so the children can now grow plants and vegetables to help them understand more about the natural world and how to eat more home-grown fruit and vegetables.

We’ve been working with this team for our waste management services, and the level of professionalism and reliability has been outstanding.
Our general and recycling & food waste drivers , Curtis Fleming & Steve Derrick, have been consistently punctual, friendly, and incredibly helpful.
Alex Chew, our Sales Representative, who made the onboarding process simple and transparent. Alex took the time to understand our needs and provided clear, honest guidance throughout.
And finally, Zoe Ratcliff, who has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Zoe’s communication, support, and responsiveness have been exceptional from start to finish. She ensures everything runs smoothly and is always quick to help with any queries.

Following a visit from - very friendly and professional - Alex Chew, i decided to "bin off" our old service provider, who were frequently failing to collect. I was then introduced to Zoe Ratcliff (sales supervisor) who, together with Alex, got our account up and running. Both Zoe and Alex have been absolute stars - the transition to Hills was flawless, and the account set up was easy and painless. The service is a hundred times better than our old provider. I feel like i can actually trust Hills to do what they say they will do - i dont have any concerns with their service. Speaking of the collection service itself - i would also like to give a special shout out to Nick Andrews who empties our recycling every wednesday. He's a very happy chappy - always arrives with a smile, and every staff member here who has had the pleasure of meeting him has commented on how polite and helpful he is.
All round great service - highly recommend giving them a try! In my opinion, miles better than "the big guys" we were using before!

Ben Nicholson has been superb throughout the whole process. His attention to detail is second to none and he really makes you feel like a valued customer.

One of the worst service experiences we have had with a contractor.

Bin collections were consistently missed over an extended period, despite us fully complying with the service requirements. Communication was poor, accountability was nonexistent, and issues were never properly resolved.

To make matters worse, one of their drivers was rude and aggressive on site — behaviour that is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. This alone should be a serious red flag to any business considering using this company.

Instead of addressing their repeated failures, the company abruptly terminated the service, citing vague “operational issues.” This came across as a convenient excuse rather than a legitimate reason, especially given the ongoing problems beforehand.

The overall service was awful, disorganised, and handled with a complete lack of professionalism. We will be making other local businesses aware of our experience and would strongly advise anyone considering this company to look elsewhere.

We received excellent service by Jonathan and Robert from Hills' Purton Depot! They came to let us know the bin store padlock code would no longer work and actually help getting it open, while being very patient all the while! Many others would have simply turned around and left. They then cleared the bin store for us even though there was more rubbish than anticipated.

Can't thank Ryan & Laura enough for their assistance on a hectic project that had fast paced waste requirements. Would definitely use Hills again for future project. Thank you to both of you, and the rest of the team!

I am new customer to this company. Once they have got your direct debit authorization, they will charge whatever they think it is correct. They are sending different emails to tell you the collection dates and did not turn up but charge you saying that no access for collection. It is certainly no access because they have sent wrong collection dates. You have no idea when they are coming. It is not possible to leave the garden door always open 24/7. Sometimes Need to wait 30 minutes for customer services call. Totally frustrated

I have subsequently received the call from the company and relevant credit note was issued and I am satisfied with their prompt response to this matter. It is now resolved. One more comment on their customer service officer, Magdalene , who was patient and very helpful all the way to listen to my issue. Appreciated.

Todays driver, Marcus, was a great help. Despite the biblical weather he helped our warehouse operative to clear away some overflowing rubbish to allow him to remove our general waste skip. Once again top service.
