Came, got paid, left more problems. Terrible!

In response to your reply, I do appreciate that you took the time to explain in detail, but I am still unsatisfied and bothered for the fact that there was no CO leakage detected before or after, that no one was affected by the supposedly dangerous gas before, and no CO leakage was detected after another company installed a Honeywell detector. The same company who installed my new kettle and detector did not find any leakage, even though they did not mention what kind of leakage was not there. The problem was not about the fix of 260 Euros, it is about the further quote of 410 which is still a mystery if there is any leakage.

I would happily pay 260 if the problem is fixed and I could take a shower again, but not only more money needed, and also your company cut the whole machine off! I had 11 degree of cold water, but after your paid visit, I had 0 degree of cold water, until the other company came to install the new kettle several days later.

Later I found out that there is another company offers what you offered for 85 Euros (excl. VAT) for max. half hour of work, callout fee, and 3 months of warranty. Can you comprehend why I am mad at your company for charging me 260 for 5 minutes of work and wanted to charge more for a mysterious cause?

There were also some communication problems in our whatsapp messages. I consider them minor so I will not write more here. You have no idea how much I would like to see a young entrepreneur to succeed, I really do. In this case, I am trying very hard to convince myself your work worth the charge. So far, I cannot conclude positively.

ORIGINAL REVIEW

I had a old kettle, and the mechanic saw a cash cow. I called the company to help me to resolve an error in the kettle, then received the help for 260 Euros of 5 minutes of work. That was fine. However, the mechanic performed an unrequested 'check' and concluded my kettle was leaking a deadly gas. He insisted to cut my kettle off and come back the next day with another 410 Euros quoted. In summary, the problem was not resolved, the kettle was completely shut off, and he wants more money.

After consulting many companies, the situation feels fishy, then I moved on with another company to install a new kettle. Before the other company took the old kettle off, I asked them to perform a check of leaking gas. There was NONE. There was NO leaking. It was a huge mistake to invite HRI Techniek to my place. The owner of the company wrote to me 'sometimes things in life happens out of our control'.

I hope the company may earn honest money with skills and knowledge, not tricks and lies. Spend my money carefully, because one of us worked hard for it.

Thank you for your honest review. There are a lot of things we have explained to you regarding your old Intergas HR 22. We did our best to be at your location within 2 hours of time to get the kettle fixed, at this point we did not know there was more wrong with the kettle than the code showed on the display. When we changed the part that was broken, the kettle was running fine and you had warm water again. After the warm water was running we detected the gas leakage. Your girlfriend is a witness. The so called unrequested check is obliged for us CV kettle technicians. Please refer to the BRL 6000-25. So I want to explain a few things:

- Your CV kettle had never a gas (aardgas) leakage, rather it was a CO (carbon monoxide, koolmonoxide) leakage. This gas is dangerous and deadly. Please read more about CO on the internet.

- The BRL 6000-25, which is our certification and dutch law for CV kettles teaches us, that if we find more than 20 ppm of CO leakage, we have to make the CV ketel out of operation.

- The 260 euros is including 21% tax, driving costs, labor costs and material costs. This is a normal price for a company that came the same day to your location and found the solution within 5 minutes. You should be glad we have the skills and knowledge to garantuee you a solution and fix for the problem.

- We never intended to see your kettle as a cash cow. Rather we told you that we can replace the part where the CO leakage came out from. This part costs about 285 euro with tax (HR 22 voorplaat). This could not be done the same day, because we had to order it from Intergas itself.

Please see the pictures of your kettle through the link below. You can see the upper left of the kettle is bent. This caused it to leak out CO gas to the room. I detected this CO gas with my Euralyser STx and I detected 80 ppm of CO and it was running up very fast. I decided to turn off the kettle before any of us faints or passes out. This is for your own safety.

I understand that you are disappointed, but please refer to the BRL 6000-25 and see what it says about CO leakage for companies that works with CV kettles. You can not tell it is a “unrequested check” as we are obliged to check that for your own safety. This is a protocol we have to follow according the dutch law (BRL 6000-25). At the end of the day we are responsible for your own safety. It is a pity that you think warm water and money is more important than your own life.

Again, thank you for your review. We are glad we (HRI Techniek) prevented any more dangerous situations by turning off the CV kettle and make it out of operation as we are trained to do by such situations according the BRL 6000-25.

De snelle reactie en bereidheid om nog dezelffe dag even te komen kijken was erg fijn..het meedenken en je niet gelijk op kosten te jagen werdt erg gewaardeerd.de monteur was vriendelijk en behulpzaam en heeft ons prima geadviseerd.
