Too much red tape, fine print
I’m an aspiring photographer. When it was still Llama I used to rent some Nikon D5s and Canon Mark III without issue. When it came to renting on Hygglo I got so much hassle. It was quite a painful process to get to nothing. Worse that it was last minute (probably my fault for assuming it would as smooth as it was on Llama). I don’t even think that their precautions are unfair to be honest, simply a nasty surprise when the event I was shooting was the following day and I’m chatting to their customer care at 7pm. I think pre warning of value levels, all socials to be in government names etc would be extremely helpful. If they feel you haven’t recently used such an equipment (I showed them pictures from 5 years ago, again, amateur photographer), they won’t rent to you. There’s a limit to the value you can rent. You don’t know the value of items upfront. The value of equipment isn’t shown upfront so you must ask the renter. If I had known all this from the start, it would’ve been better as I would’ve avoided the entire painful experience and gone to a brick and mortar renter. Now I’m forced to use my iPhone for pics like some kind of animal.

Straightforward and trustworthy
As an old lender from Fat Llama, I’ve found Hygglo to be a reliable and safe platform for both lenders and borrowers. Its verified users, secure payments through Stripe, and included protection give real peace of mind, and the whole rental process feels straightforward and trustworthy.

Hygglo have proven themselves time and…
Hygglo have proven themselves time and time again when it comes to handling returns.
I’ve been renting out my kit for over a year, and despite the occasional person trying to take advantage, Hygglo always steps up and takes care of any matter immediately.
Their support has been reliable every single time, and it gives me real peace of mind renting out my equipment through them. Highly recommend.

Won't let you rent things that you actually need.
I've rented kit out on Fat Llama for years, but when I come to want to rent something myself I now have to go through a separate round of intrusive verification checks (including 'do you post on Facebook regularly') and then 'm hit with an arbitrary value limit that makes it impossible to rent something I need. The team says 'you can rent lower value items and that might increase your limit.' I already own thousands of pounds of kit, and only need one specific item, but apparently the only way to do this is to spend more money (on which they take a cut) on rentals I don't need, and hope that they might raise the limit. Which makes this platform completely worthless, as I'm not going to do that and will therefore never be approved to rent something I actually need.
Customer service was deeply unhelpful, refused to put me in touch with someone who could do anything, just a bunch of platitudes and empty apologies. No opportunity to discuss the decision, no consideration of my years as an owner on the platform, nothing.
Avoid the hassle and just go to a legit rental house.
Edit - and when I explained to the person I was renting from, who has now missed out on income because I couldn't rent it, Hygglo censored my message that explained the situation saying that I 'appeared to be trying to move off the platform'. Yeah, obviously I have to go somewhere else now.
Complete joke.

We understand how disappointing it is to be unable to rent the specific item you need.
Our verification process and borrowing limits are in place to help protect both lenders and borrowers, support secure payments and payouts, reduce risk, and keep the marketplace safe for higher-value rentals. These checks can sometimes mean that an account is not immediately approved for a particular rental value, even where someone has previous history on another side of the platform.
That said, we appreciate that this should be communicated clearly and respectfully, and we’re sorry if our support did not meet that standard.
Message moderation is also intended to keep conversations on-platform for safety and protection.
We’re sorry this has left you feeling let down. Your feedback is useful, and we’ll take it into account as we continue improving how we explain verification decisions and rental limits.

Great app, and very good customer service if your equipment ever is damaged, they responded very quickly and helped fix my equipment and covered the cost on the one time an internal screw came loose

Hyrt och hyrt ut med Hygglo flera gånger! Tydligt utbud i appen, bra steg för steg-guide när man hyr och hyr ut. Mina saker har ibland blivit skadade med Hygglo men försäkringen hanteras väldigt smidigt!
