I ran into this company by accident but it has been a pleasure working with their friendly and professional staff. I worked directly with Danny and I can easily say he was very honest and helpful with my every inquiry. I highly recommend them.

I stopped using Icons8 in September 2025. In November, I went to cancel — but the interface led me to "pause" the subscription instead. Three months later, it silently resumed and I was charged $15 for a service I hadn't touched in six months.

When I contacted support and pointed out zero usage since September, they refused the refund, citing that I "paused, not cancelled." I asked to escalate — same answer.

The charge is small, but the practice is not okay. If your cancellation flow is designed in a way that tricks users into pausing instead of cancelling, and you then use that as a reason to deny refunds — that's a textbook dark pattern.

Update: Icons8 reached out after this review, issued a full refund, and shared a screenshot of their flow — which does show a prominent green "Pause" button and a gray "Cancel" button. Looking at it, I can see where my mistake happened.

I stand by the original concern: a UI where "Pause" is the dominant action and "Cancel" is visually secondary is still worth flagging. But credit where it's due — they resolved it quickly once it escalated, and the refund came through without friction.

If you're looking for the perfect example of a company that treats its users with utter contempt while systematically robbing them blind, look no further than Icons8. My experience wasn't just bad; it was a masterclass in corporate sociopathy and deliberate deception. This platform is a predatory trap disguised in bright, friendly colors.

Pricing Designed to Punish & Enslave: Want to own an icon? FORGET IT. They have deliberately eliminated the possibility of a simple, one-time purchase. Their pricing is a labyrinth designed for one outcome: force you into a recurring, exorbitant subscription you don't want and can't afford. It's digital extortion: "Pay us a recurring ransom, or lose access to everything you built." This isn't commerce; it's a protection racket.

The "Deactivation" Death Sentence: This is their most evil, user-hostile feature. As other victims detail, if you dare to stop paying their blood money, they don't just stop your downloads. They DEACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT AND THREATEN TO DELETE EVERYTHING YOU'VE EVER DONE. Your projects, your designs, your hard work—held hostage. They literally hold your creative work for ransom. This is beyond unethical; it's psychological warfare against freelancers and small businesses.

A Support Team of Gaslighting Robots: Contact them about this exploitative model? You'll get canned, condescending responses that ignore the fundamental immorality of their practices. They are trained to defend the indefensible. They will call holding your files hostage "standard policy." They are not here to help you; they are here to silence you.

The Silent Shakedown: Many report hidden clauses, unclear licensing, and sudden changes to terms that leave you vulnerable and liable. It's a house of cards built to collapse on the user.

To the decision-makers at Icons8: You have built a fortune by preying on the desperation and trust of creatives. Your "profile summary" page isn't a dashboard; it's a stock ticker showing how much misery you've monetized. You are the epitome of everything wrong with the subscription-everything economy. You are not innovators; you are parasites.

To Every Designer, Developer, and Creative Person Reading This:
RUN. DO NOT WALK AWAY.
Do not give them your email. Do not give them a single minute of your time. Do not, under any circumstances, give them your credit card number. You are not buying icons; you are signing a Faustian bargain that will haunt you. The stress, the rage, the feeling of violation is not worth it.

Use any alternative. Draw stick figures. ANYTHING is better than feeding this monstrous, user-hating machine. I will dedicate a portion of my career to warning people about you. You are, without hyperbole, one of the most dishonest and harmful companies I have ever had the misfortune of encountering.

Great library of icons and the integration with Adobe makes it super easy. Customer support is very helpful, too.

I had a very big problem and within hours my problem was solved. Great support work!

I bought a 3-day free trial of the face changer and adjuster, and i forgot to cancel it. After 3 days i got autorenew for 100$ which gave me axiety and frustration. Luckly i got a refund in just 5 minuted because of the amazing support they have.

Besides the fact, they have great service for developers, the solved my problem which I had with accessing my account. And the problem has been on my side (the browser). So for everyone else: if the login does not work, it might be the cache/cookies of the browser. Delete them or use another browser. Icons8 receives 10 of 10 from me!

Excellent service for searching branding illustrations and icon packs

Requested a refund, think I'd put a 3 month pause on and forgot - so when the autorenew happened I was obviously frustrated although it was my fault. No issue refund processed in minutes!

The smart upscaler provides one of the best image sharpening tools I've ever tried(and I tried a lot of them). The support line is also very quick and helpful, and they helped me resolve a situation with one of the plans, which are also quite flexible.

I’ve been using Icons8 for many years and they are fantastic. The service has just gotten better over time. They have a wide variety of icon options and have great tools as well for tasks like changing colors or combining icons.
