You could only give 5 stars to a gym if: the changing rooms are spotless most of the time, toilets smell good and stocked up, sauna is on at the right times, shower pressure is good, machines are not... もっと見る
Love the sauna. Plenty of lockers. There's plenty of weights machines. Just disappointing that my local JD Gym doesn't have any yoga classes on, on an evening.
Leeds North is a fantastic facility for keeping fit. The Personal Trainers are extremely professional & approachable. More important for me is they give you eye contact when they interact.

I have reviewed before but think it's important I do so again. Member at JD Gyms for a number of years and was impressed by the terms of membership, right up until they needed to be used.........
Unfortunately I did become unwell & indeed was hospitalised for a period of time. Thus my membership was suspended, for which I was very grateful after notifying the gym I used - Leeds North. Great, hugely helpful, friendly staff there and this review & experience has not stopped me thinking that. Absolutely first class.
What's happened in my case though is payments were started up again, when I was still signed off by the NHS as being - not fit to attend the gym & despite notifying them of this and seeking the return of monies taken they are choosing to IGNORE ME & NOT REFUND MY MONEY?????
Strongly advise anyone considering JD Gyms to consider their future health before doing so, as they may appear sympathetic but this will be temporary when they need the money - they'll take it anyway! Very worst customer service I've encountered, in recent memory.
25 Jun update - submitted payment review enquiry, immediately following JD's reply & will keep updating but still yet, to hear anything about my funds being returned or compensation for my loss as a result.

5 stars for the staff.. especially Casey! but 2 stars for the equipment! This gym is always busy and the people are amazing but the equipment needs updating, a lot of the machines are out of order and mats and pads are ripping apart.
I’ve seen alot of the other jd gyms instagrams and they have amazing equipment, please jd gym group sort the Leeds north out!

All the team are so friendly! The gym is clean and staff are regularly out cleaning and tidying! Couldn’t ask for more from a gym!
Been going to jd seacroft for a year! Great staff great environment and overall best gym I’ve been to.
Special shout out to Beth for being great and Gav for being the best personal trainer
Can tell it’s discount season again, loads of equipment broken and loads of 14yr olds running about acting like it’s a playground, don’t bother if I was you

I've been going to the gym since it opened. The staff is amazing, and the place has a good vibe.
The gym is going downhill, considering it was overhauled only two years ago. The equipment is below standard, always breaking, the pads are ripped or worn, there is not much floor space to be able to complete non-machine exercises.
I have a membership that allows me to attend other gyms in the group, and it surprises me that the equipment of these other gyms is far superior to this gym.
With other gyms in the area like Ultraflex, Jetts and Pure Gym, that have better equipment, that are at a higher standard, it makes it harder to want to stay at this gym.
Please…. Update the equipment, and listen to your staff

I’m writing this review in the hope of getting JD Gym’s attention, as my recent experience with a membership freeze has been frustrating and disappointing.
I submitted a freeze request on 3rd May 2025, after finding details on your website that freezing was an option instead of cancelling, which suited me, as I was leaving the country for two. The form I completed included detailed personal information such as my membership number, home gym, email, phone number, and postcode.
I promptly received an email that same day confirming my request had been received and reassuring me my request was being dealt with, following :
"Hello,
Thank you for getting in touch!
This email is to let you know we have received your freeze request and will process it as soon as possible. Please sit tight whilst our team work to process your request. This can take up to 14 working days.
Don’t worry, we process all requests based on the date you submit them. We appreciate your patience and kindly ask that you refrain from submitting duplicate requests"
However, on 7th - May four days later — I received another email requesting more information. By this time, I was already out of the country and not expecting further email response so did not see this email Immediately. I replied with the additional details on 15th June. Despite my original request being submitted and acknowledged in early May, I was then told the freeze would only take effect from 14th July.
As a result, payments were taken in both May and June.
I believe this delay after already providing identification details and receiving assurance of a backdated freeze was unreasonable and misleading. The process gave me false confidence that the freeze would be honoured from the date of submission, as clearly stated in your own communication.
I’ve tried to resolve this via email without success and now feel compelled to share my experience publicly. At this point, I am very disappointed with the way JD Gym has handled this and would appreciate contact from someone who can offer a fair resolution.

Do not join! Their terms and conditions are really sketchy they say there’s no cancellation fee but they take and additional payment after you’ve cancelled the wording on the terms and conditions is really misleading-
I would like to point out that Clause 11.1.1 makes clear this is a request and not a mandatory contractual obligation. Specifically, the wording used is "if you can give us 30 days notice this helps us complete the process” which implies that members are encouraged, but not legally required, to continue payment during the notice period. This is further supported by their statement that members "can cancel the direct debit at any time."
They refused to refund even though I told them multiple times that I would not use the gym because the equipment was always out of order, the gym was filthy and it full of people standing over you asking to use your kit!

As a JD member I must admit to feeling absolutely irate over the latest news that this gym is now giving free memberships to illegal migrants. I pay damn near £30 a month! Will be cancelling immediately.
I’ve been a loyal member of JD Leeds North since it opened, but the gym has gone downhill. Most of the equipment is outdated, especially the white kit, which is falling apart. Machines are constantly out of order, and there’s only one standard leg extension and hamstring curl, leading to long wait times—when they even work. Dumbbells are limited, rower screens never function due to dead batteries, and several cardio machines are always broken. There are no basic accessories like bands or blocks, so I’ve had to buy my own.
I recently tried UltraFlex, and the difference was huge, top-tier brands like Hammer Strength, Nautilus, and Prime, plus multiple leg presses, extensions, and rows. If JD Leeds North doesn’t invest in maintenance and new equipment, I’ll be canceling my membership.

Yes it’s a massive gym but there’s also a hell of a lot of members so the machines are always taken up. The car park is always full and hard to get parked. There are only 3 toilet cubicles which is bizarre given the amount of members. There is nowhere to get changed privately unless you want to do it in the toilet cubicle. Cancelling the membership takes forever. All round disappointed with this gym/company. Best thing about it was the Zumba class with Sue, she’s amazing and her class - the only reason I gave 2 stars.

None of these are in order so it warrants 3 stars for now. The middle of the gym is decent and the classes seem very good, weights area is decent too but people often leave dumbbells etc on floor and walk off. It’s a good gym, and has room for improvement for sure. I can appreciate looking after a gym has many moving parts, so I’m willing to change my review based on how things progress

Very disappointed at being lied to I attended the gym this morning and was advised not to leave my bike outside as the two lads that had stolen a bike the previous day where scoping the gym again tried to put in the gym but got no help from the staff will be putting a complaint in.

Feels like standards are slowly beginning to slip at this gym. Overall it is usually great, however, recently there has been a significant amount of equipment that has been out of order at the same time. It is also disappointing to see that certain machines have been removed which doesn’t help either.
Finally, I would like to bring attention to the hygiene and cleanliness of the toilets which is often poor, the floor is usually dirty and there is a constant smell of urine.

Really like the Leeds north gym overall. My main issue is lately, there has been too much equipment out of order and not being replaced or fixed with any pace.

Over the last MONTH the SAUNA has not been turned on first thing in the morning
I’ve on a number off occasions asked the LADY MANAGER to put it on
I shouldn’t have to ask every other morning to put it on
By the time you finish training and go in the SAUNA is cold at 6-15 in the morning
When the GENTLEMAN MANAGER was on it was always LOVELY AND HOT at 6-15 in the MORNING
it’s ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL now

Well i joined the gym 2 months ago sea-craft one 2 months ago, the gym was ok but not great the equipment are too old and they put the equipment really close to each other and you have to be careful to go from one place to another specially when its busy, toilet was always dirty when ever you use it like gym is busy all the time so you have to clean the toilet every hour and shower room water is really really slow when more people is using it
