I rated the gym with one star as a strong expression of my dissatisfaction with the fact that male staff members are entering the women’s section without prior notice or permission. If the gym has specifically designated a section for women, it is for a reason—out of respect for women’s privacy and boundaries. Allowing male staff to enter at any time undermines that purpose, and this is a serious issue. If this continues, neither I nor my friends will be renewing our memberships. This gym is the only one that offers a women’s section, which makes it special, and if it doesn’t take this matter seriously, it will be a shame.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry to hear that in this instance you were unhappy with the circumstances.
Other than ensuring our members safety and enjoyment whilst in our gyms we also have a duty to do maintenance checks or have certain out of order equipment fixed.
They should announce themselves before entering or get another member of staff to enter ahead of them to make members aware.
If however this didn't happen or you are still unhappy about this matter please do speak with the General Manager in your club and they can explain the procedure further and reassure you that this will be done in accordance with our policies in the future.

My very honest experience
I really enjoy the woman's only area, it is mostly clean.
I find the changing rooms are sometimes either clean or very dirty and smelly.
The showers absolutely stink, it makes me feel sick.
The toilet area is always smelly, the sanitary bins had blood on them today.
The staff that come into the changing room can sometimes be very rude, I have met a few nice people.
The temperature of the normal showers is very hot, I have had this conversation with many other members.
Parking is always a mission.

In terms of the cleanliness in the changing areas and how that makes you feel when you use them, we would always advise that you speak to a member of the team at the time so they have chance to rectify it asap and stop it effecting yours and other member experiences. I joined on line 2 weeks ago and was told inductions are on Tuesday and Wednesday so I turned up on Wednesday morning and pushed the green button as advised. A personal trainer came straight out and took me through a training schedule, he was excellent, sorry can't remember his name.

Thanks for leaving us some feedback Ian. Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible
Alternatively please do not hesitate in picking the brains of our Personal Trainers in Milton Keynes as they will no doubt have a weird/wonderful alternative for you if some of the equipment is out of action. Keeping you on track to smash your goals💪 . If you have any concerns about equipment, please notify staff on site as soon as you can, similarly please do so if you believe other members are hogging equipment and not necessarily using it as we wouldn't want you to have a disappointing workout! First of all you said there is a private room for ladies and when i talk to you by phone I mentioned that I am a muslim and you assure to me that …. But when I arrived the second day and during the time when i came inside the changing room i surprised with man from the stuff inside he was fixing something and he was so rude he stayed and argued with me that he has the right. That was awful , audacity plus he didn’t apologised even didn’t respect the others
I think i will cancel my subscription and i won't tell my friends

I used to exercise at PureGym, but JD Gym is the best. They have all the equipment, a steam room, and amazing studios. Additionally, I really love the lighting system at JD Gym.

Great gym and loads of choice for machines, cardio and weights area. The only thing stopping from 5* is the changing rooms. Could be slightly cleaner as do smell a bit

Nice and spacious
The gym is nice spacious, there is a women’s only area which is lovely. But the app doesn’t have a lot of information it would be nice if it would log the amount of times you have attended the gym. And if it would have workout plans that we could use

We do have plans to develop our app further in the future, but for now we're just using it to allow contactless entry for our members and it does that wonderfully well.

Hello Aysha, thanks for leaving a review! I'm really pleased to hear you are enjoying the equipment and the gym overall as well as the ladies only section at our Milton Keynes gym. We do our best to provide for all types of members and each part of the gym is sized proportionally to the overall demand. We don't actually have ladies only sections at all locations, but in parts of the country where there is greater call for this due to religious or cultural reasons, we do tend to put them in. As I'm sure you can appreciate, as a percentage of our whole member base, those requiring the privacy of a separate section is quite small. Almost all our female members make use of the main gym and the full range of facilities on offer. Perhaps there is something we could do to help you make use of the wider gym so that you're not feeling confined by the smaller space? You could look at speaking with a Personal Trainer... they would be a great person to discuss that with. If it's an issue with the equipment available in the ladies only section, you are welcome to take in extra items, e.g. heavier dumbbells, if you'd like to or raise this to a member of staff the next time you visit. Absolutely love this gym…
Absolutely love this gym … I have never stepped foot into a gym before and on my first day I received a very warm welcome and was shown how is use the equipment correctly to avoid injury and to get the best out of my training. Highly recommend

Missed opportunity
I see huge potential in the gym, however, the end result is very frustrating due to the many missed opportunities. A gym with this kind of traffic needs at least two or three normal leg press machine... and the only normal ones there are not working. Also, not precor and matrix wanabe leg presser. The grouping of the machines is also disastrous, a triceps press machine and at least two horizontal bench press machines are missing. In addition, there are particularly good machines that are of course not the above-mentioned brands... for example, the nautilus hip trust machine, for the back:
t bar, the pull-down and rowing machines with independent arms, and the seated adjustable back chest machine. What I particularly liked was that the boxing area is relatively large and spacious, but I was particularly saddened by the fact that the weight and quality of the bags is disappointing, the racket wall would be a huge plus point if it were not worn out. Unfortunately, there is no really heavy bag, aqua bag, a full-size standing bag for kicks, and a speed bag bar, but the latter would just be the cherry on the cake. Finally, it is incredibly cold in the room. Under these conditions, I will cancel my membership as soon as I can. It is so unfortunate that it has so many possibilities.

We work hard with our suppliers to offer a wide range of equipment that will best compliment the majority of our members needs.
We like to offer the boxing equipment as an additional benefit to the rest of the gym as we are not a bespoke boxing facility but understand it is an area of training you are passionate about, so we apologise for not being able to cater for that.

This gym smells really bad
This gym smells really bad, I tried to ignore the smell and carry on training but I was so strong I had to leave half way through. Yet there is people hovering and cleaning all day, please fix the smell. Really disappointed overall tbh I thought it would be a great gym and heard good things about the chain. But the equipment here is laid out really poorly.. you’re training on top of people pretty much and you can’t find things. It’s also really dark everywhere.
