I moved to this gym a few months ago from PureGym because my PT switched gyms. This is a much bigger gyms, there are plenty of machines and weights available for cardio and strength training and I love the amount of floor space available for your workouts. Compared to the PureGym it's massive and has got loads of energy. Also Claire Thomas is an amazing pt, I've been with her for 2 years and she's really fun and effective. Check out some of her spin classes.

The barcode scanners at the gate takes some getting used to though. I spent the first few days at this gym spending five minutes fiddling with the scanners trying to enter and leave the gym.

I love this gym but really sad to learn that flo has been let go. Of all the classes I’ve attended she was by far my favourite instructor. She went out of her way to make me feel comfortable yet motivated at the same time. Hoping they can bring her back as I’d be very reluctant to attend any of the other classes and would consider moving gyms just for her classes if possible

On arrival at the 10:50 I was told by staff that at the gym we would be observing a 2 minute silence for Remembrance Day. At 11:00 nothing stopped, music kept playing, nobody stopped training apart from 2 people on the gym floor and a couple of people in the spin studio. No staff were present to conduct this.

What can I say …. What a night Thursday was full class pumping tunes and one hell of an instructor Flo🤗🏋️‍♀️ but also sad that this was Flo’s last night at JD Benton.

Simply can’t understand how JD could let one of their best instructors leave.

Flo has been such an inspirational motivator, to me as 53 yrld old woman who loves coming to spinning , body pump and conditioning , all because of the motivation, fun, tunes, and the team work, that these classes bring.

so disappointed that I can’t enjoy these classes anymore with Flo and the team. I have cancelled my membership.

Also could you please fix the broken spinning bikes for new members as so old and cranky !!!!!

I have to rate the gym 1 star but Flo’s classes 5 star.

As former member of Xcercise4Less I’ve been excited to see JD taking over, offering pool, steam room and refurbished equipment. Nothing that was announced was actually delivered, despite an empty promises I remained a member for a spin routine I have cultivated for years. Until recently when I have been told the only REAL fitness instructor is being let go. Flo Marshall***** has been nothing but exceptional fitness model, motivator and a true inspiration to many. Her classes became a community of spin addicts, fitness and health junkies.
Understandable JD doesn’t care about their members experience but the bottom line only.
Wish you all of the best with your bunch of unexperienced unfit PT’s, often glued to their phones rather than clients and presenting nothing but ££££ drive and no purpose.

If anyone new is considering joining DON’T .

You didn’t let go the one instructor, you let go the long list of members that don’t get to see the reason to continue..
JD Benton your lost but it will be someone’s gain…

I joined JD Benton after a recommendation from a friend who attended multiple classes. I decided to give Spin a go and Flo the instructor was amazing! She helped me get started and gave me the encouragement I needed to improve my fitness to the point where I couldn't wait for the next class. I started losing weight (almost 1 stone) and felt amazing physically and mentally, she really is the best instructor i have came across and I'm 56 yo but unfortunately the management have let her go and without her classes the gym has nothing more to offer me. Unfortunately I'll be cancelling my membership and joining a gym who actually value their best instructors.
I leave JD Benton 1 star but give Flo Marsh 5 stars. Flo you deserve better.

I've been attending jd gym benton since last December. I not only wanted to get in shape but I also thought it would be good for the mind.
I've never really felt comfortable going around the gym floor, so thought I'd stick to the classes and ooh boy I loved it.
I tried a number of classes body combat, zumba, pilates, HITT but my most favourite classes are or should I say were are body pump and spin with the amazing and talented Flo.
Tonight was my last class with her, she pushed me to be my best and can I tell you the results are good, I feel like a new person both physically and emotionally.

Even my partner comments on my results all the time in how well I've done.

I could not have achieved this without Flo's support and help, I've made a friend for life.

Jd Gyms may be a good price, but its not just about the money, if you haven't got dedicated professional instructor like Flo then what's the point of going.

I will sadly be terminating my contract and finding alternative classes.
You have made a massive mistake JD gym benton by getting rid of a much loved instructor.

Since being a longstanding member (formally X4LESS) it's now time to say goodbye. Just because it's a reasonably priced gym, this should not warrant substandard equipment or practices, but unfortunately it does. JD took over. We were told we were getting a pool.....not quite. They took part of our gym away to build a private pool. We are getting a sauna.......nope. New spin bikes.......newly sprayed old bikes! A total of 10 bikes were broken. I sort of excepted this ( shouldn't have) as I was still getting quality classes from fitness instructor Flo. Keeping me going, getting the best out of everyone. Management have decided to terminate her contract as I will my membership. Very disappointed.

When I joined this gym a few years ago (X4L then) Flo Marsh taught the first class I ever tried, and after that I was hooked! I never thought that Spin would be for me, but she makes it so addictive, fun and challenging that I haven't looked back. I'm stronger, more confident and healthier because of her help and encouragement.
I was shocked and heartbroken when I heard that Flo will no longer be at JD Gyms. Her classes have been part of my weekly routine and the reason I've maintained my membership. I've been a member for so long because of how amazing and inspiring Flo is, and I am grateful for all of her help. She made my time at the gym incredible and without her there is very little on the class timetable that makes me want to stay.

What a great but sad night at jd benton end of an era in my eyes. Jd have let the best and most popular instructor flo go. I’ve been doing her classes for 5 year she’s the most hard working instructor works and talks to you all the time while some just walk about telling you what to do not getting the best out of people but flo tried all the time to motivate you. So like I said sad night tonight for us members and jd. So I’ve give jd 1 star for not trying to keep top instructor and not listening to its members who make the gym possible.

I have attended JD (formerly X4L), for the last 2 years.

When I started the last thing I would ever choose to do was spin! I hated cardio, hated spin, hated ‘classes’ in general ….then I met Flo Marsh!
She is the most motivated, passionate and infectious woman I’ve ever met. Her approach isn’t for everyone but it works for sooo many people and 99.9% of the people you speak to have nothing but great things to say about her. Flo’s classes are always packed and I get there super early to make sure I get a spot!
I feel many were able to overlook the MANY broken bikes and treadmills because of her! I know I did because I came out feeling great!

Needless to say I was left utterly stunned that Flo was being asked to leave last week. To say I’m gutted is an understatement! What a ridiculous and ill-informed decision!

And so, the girl who would rather chew glass than do a spin class….has just bought some spin-shoes for the next DOUBLE session! However, I won’t be using them at JD…wherever Flo goes, I will find out and follow

…….and I know I won’t be the only one!!

If these are the decisions made by management then i cannot recommend this gym. It’s just absurd and demonstrates the sheer lack of understanding and respect for the views of the many who have already expressed their upset with this ludicrous decision!

I was witness again this morning to another health and safety issue, a member had to leave the class after the pedal on there spin bike was coming off, I’m not sure if they were hurt (hopefully not) as they didn’t return to the class. I will definitely reviewing my membership as the quality of the equipment in the spin studio is shocking and we pay for the privilege of using said equipment. Shocking for a gym of this size

Since going back to the gym after a back injury I have enjoyed Flo Marsh's spin and body-pump classes tremendously. She inspires and supports me so much and her classes are both enjoyable and fun to do, with great play lists. Losing her from JD is such a massive shock the loss can only be a negative thing for the gym and whoever has made this decision needs to think again!!!

A fairly standard gym if it were not for Flo. Though I am unaware of the circumstances surrounding her departure, I can say that JD Benton without Flo is a place that I will not be attending. Flo’s classes offer support, a positive group environment and an atmosphere that fosters development. The management team at JD Benton needs to consider their alternative PT options.
As an insight to the management team, those that have covered Flo’s classes in the past have amongst other things:
Not carried out a warm up or warm down
Not demonstrated the technique
Not taken part in the activities
Read from their phone
Not turned up at all
If this is the type of class you wish to run going forward JD Benton, myself and many others will no longer be paying our membership fees. We strongly advise you review your decision.

There are a lot of people who come to the gym - myself included, specifically because Flo teaches there. 

By letting her go, you are doing such a disservice to the gym, and so many memebrs who have been coming to her classes for a long time now.

You are clearly not listening to or obviously haven't even asked about what members think of her teaching, and if people want her to stay - it will be the majority.

The classes make my week a lot better and she pushes us to be fitter and stronger - which in my option, is what you should want from your instructors and PTs.

I know I am only one person and JD is a massive corporation so they probably don't care, but I am seriously considering if I want to continue at this gym because of this situation.

Joined two months ago and started doing Flo Marsh’s spin classes. Love her classes and her energy. Her classes make up for the poor quality bikes. Every week there seems to be more and more bikes that are broken(10 at the last count this morning)!Even the bikes that were left weren’t great! Now I here Flo Marsh has been sacked without any explanation! Shocking! Avoid this gym if you want to do spin. Once Flo leaves all that will be left is a load of broken bikes!!

Flo has been an integral part of our gym experience, and her exceptional skills in guiding, motivating, and supporting us have significantly contributed to our progress and overall satisfaction with the gym. Her ability to push us to reach our full potential in a caring and constructive manner is something that sets her apart as an outstanding instructor.

Flo's unique approach to encouraging us to consistently progress and avoid becoming complacent has had a significant positive impact on my fitness journey. Her presence has not only inspired us but also created a sense of community within the gym.

It is disheartening to see such a valuable asset to the fitness community being removed from her role. We believe that her dedication, expertise, and commitment to well-being should be recognised and celebrated, rather than disregarded.

I kindly request that JD Gyms Benton reconsider this decision and reinstate Flo Marsh as a gym class instructor. Her presence has been a source of motivation and inspiration for many of us, and her absence will be sorely felt.

I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and hope for a favorable resolution that benefits both our gym community and the reputation of JD Gyms.

I have been a member of JD gyms for over a year and mainly attend the classes , les mills body pump is the class I attend. We have been informed that JD are getting rid of one of the instructors Flo Marsh. This is a huge shame , myself and a lot of the other people who attend Flo’s class agree that she is really good instructor she has a personal touch to her classes and she makes you feel like a client rather than a number , she pushes you , encourages you and with Flo you actually see results with her advice and guidance which is more than what you expect from a free class included in the membership. With me only attending classes I will seriously consider cancelling my membership with JD if they proceed to terminate her contract

First time going to gym was very nervous but the atmosphere and staff are lovely was struggling didn’t know where things were had a lovely woman who works there come over and help me was very grateful love coming
