This course uses instructional videos to teach you the patisserie skills. The videos are excellent. You prepare and make the dishes alongside the tutor. Every stage is shown, so you can see how yours looks and compare it to the tutor's. You can also see photos of the items made by the other people on your course. (There were 7-8 people on my course) It's really helpful to see what others have done, and you learn a lot from them. The course runs over 12 weeks, and to complete it in that time scale, you need to allow about 1-2 days per week. You do have access to the videos for 9 months though, and the documents accompanying each section build up a into thick portfolio of theory, recipes and techniques. You need a LOT of ingredients and kit, some of it quite specialised, so be prepared for the extra cost of all this over and above the cost of the course. You also make a LOT of cakes, so it's useful to think about who you can get to help you eat them! Once you make an item, you photograph the finished product and upload it to the Workshop App using the link given at each section. You can add some text, perhaps commenting on the process, or asking a question. The course mentor will reply usually that day, via the App, to give you feedback, tips, or answers. The replies are very positive and very helpful. I felt my confidence grow considerably over the course as I learned many new techniques and tips. At the end of the course, when you have completed all the sections you get a certificate sent automatically to you. The various sections are released weekly and I found it helpful to do them in order, as the later sections built on previously taught skills. Altogether, I am SO glad I did this course. It has taught me so much.

I have now done several courses with Leiths Online both accredited and special interest over the last 3 years. Ive always learnt such a huge amount from each of the courses. They are easy to follow and well presented and the personal feedback you receive from both your mentor and fellow classmates is invaluable. I would recommend the courses to anyone either wanting to start up working in the industry or keen home cooks who want to expand their knowledge.

A fantastic, year-long experience with Leiths, from Absolute Beginners through to Chef Skills. I’ve learnt an unbelievable amount. The online tutors give honest feedback, looking for the positives in every dish, answering your questions and offering tips on how to improve. Very glad I did these courses.

I had always wanted to do a Patisserie course but they are so expensive, the opportunity came up to do the Leiths online course which was much more affordable. The course was informative and easy to follow and the great thing was I could fit it around my work, everything was very well explained by very knowledgable tutors. I’m so pleased I took the course, I’ve always loved cooking and baking and now feel more confident in what I do as well as expanding my own knowledge.

6 months of cooking, baking and eating lots and lots of very delicious food. Foolproof recipes involving with tons of skillsets packed in detailed classes. I can safely say that the quality of quite a few of my desserts, bakes and savouries since the course are on par with the stuff that you would find in the best of the bakeries and restaurants. This course will teach you skills that are far beyond what you can ever learn watching Youtube videos.Worth every penny this course!!

I’ve done three Leith’s courses online. All have been excellent and it’s so convenient to be able to work at my own pace. The video teaching is brilliant and really demonstrates the skills needed to complete the recipes.
