We recently completed a fairly substantial home energy upgrade, including a Tesla Powerwall 3 with two expansion packs and 11 Eurener bifacial solar panels, and I’m genuinely impressed with the service from Light Renewables.
From initial consultation through to commissioning, the team were professional, knowledgeable, and extremely organised. What stood out most was their technical competence — they clearly understand complex systems, hybrid heating setups, and battery integrations, rather than just installing “standard packages.”
The installation itself was neat and well thought out. Cabling was tidy, communication was clear throughout, and the team took time to explain the system settings and optimisation. Everything was commissioned correctly, including export limits and smart tariff configuration.
There were no surprises, no pushy sales tactics, and no corner-cutting. It felt like dealing with engineers who take pride in their work rather than just sales reps chasing volume.
Now that the system is up and running, performance has been excellent and the setup is fully automated — exactly what we wanted.
If you’re looking for a competent, technically strong renewable installer who delivers what they promise, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Light Renewables.

Great service, had an issue with the datalogger being offline following a power cut. Contacted the companies technical line and within 10 minutes was back up and running.

Excellent service.
We had our system installed in 2019 and it still performs as expected.
The inverter failed in 2022 and was promptly replaced under warranty.
The newer one failed to communicate after I changed our WiFi router but on contacting Light Renewables, Daryl advised me over WhatsApp which resolved the matter.
I can again monitor the output of my 14 panel system.
Thanks to Daryl and all at Light Renewables, I have no hesitation to reccomend their service.

Have been doing my research over many months and these guys were great. Price competitive, no pushy salesman and very professional installation team. Nothing too much trouble.

I’d been looking to install solar panels for around eight months and had spoken to several companies, both large and small. None of them really gave me confidence that they had my best interests at heart — it all felt very sales‑driven. Then I came across Light Renewables.

What immediately stood out was that when I looked up the company, the reviews mentioned the same people I was dealing with (Mark, Matt and Daryl), and they were actively responding to posts about the equipment they use.

They offered a very competitive detailed quote that included everything I wanted and more. The specifications of the equipment were better than many of the other quotes I’d received, and unlike other companies, they broke down the costs of the quote and they didn’t try to then add extra charges after the quote for things like bird protection., it was already included.

There was absolutely no sales pressure, which is what I wanted. They arranged a home survey to make sure everything would run smoothly on installation day, and only once that was done they check that I was happy to proceed. A lot of other companies tried to do this using just photos or Google Maps, and only after you had signed on the dotted line.

The installation was booked in just before Christmas. The team who arrived were a real credit to the company. Despite a yellow weather warning for rain, they worked incredibly hard, did a fantastic job, and kept a great attitude even though they were soaked through by the end of the day.

I’m extremely happy with the setup I have now got. Also a quick mention for the office staff, Jody and Amy prepared all the paperwork and certs efficiently and quickly and they have been very quick and helpful in responding to any questions even after the install.

I highly recommend this company.

From first contact to final installation, dealing with Light Renewables has been completely effortless. Mark, Daryl and the office team were always on hand to answer my questions, and the installation team — Aaron, his fellow roofer (whose name I’m ashamed to admit has escaped me), and Serhiy — were brilliant.

They worked efficiently, left absolutely no mess behind, and only charged me 4 cups of tea for their trouble 😂 A very fair trade.

From my first contact with Matt in the office, Daryl called me to discuss my needs to understand this better. All I wanted was a system that would cover my usage. He knew I had a very big roof with 3 faces available to fill and suggested I maximise this. He proposed 33 panels which was much more than I was looking for but explained the payback will be much shorter. He gave a really competitive price but I was worried if it was an upselling tactic but once I did some analysis I could see the opportunity. So I paid the deposit and Michael attended to do a very thorough survey taking over 4 hours ( much better than all the local installers). The installation day was amazing with a team of 4 here. They worked really hard all day but completed the installation in one long day. I have since had some questions and Matt has been brilliant answering them. I left it a while to leave a review to make sure I was happy and I am over the moon. I am looking to have full payback in under 6 years which is half of what a fit for purpose system would have taken. I have since had batteries installed and there was an issue with cmissioning one of the batteries. The electrician attended 3 days in a row until the manufacturer acknowledged it was a faulty unit. While this was inconvenient, it wasn't their fault and I couldn't have asked them to doore than they did to get the batteries working. Their service was faultless. I have no regrets recommending light renewables and have since had a good friend have them do their installation.

We had a six panel solar system with battery installed in April 2025. After obtaining quotes from a number of different suppliers including some of the bigger names Light Renewables were able to fit me a higher performing system for similar money but with much more attention to detail and no drama. The install was quick and painless with a very neat job.
The system has been running for around six months and has far exceeded the original expectations for energy production, the battery works amazingly and the customer service has been really good. We had a minor issue with the battery after six months but they responded to the email even though they were closed (it was New Year’s Day) and were out next day and swapped it, couldn’t ask for a better service than that.
Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a quality system for a sensible price, don’t just buy the cheapest one out there. These guys will set you up with the right system and importantly, the right customer service behind it.

Highly recom
It took me a while to build confidence before choosing Light Renewables. Initially, I was planning to go with EDF Solar, largely because I had already installed an EDF heat pump and assumed a big household brand would be the safest option. In the end, the difference between the EDF quote and Light Renewables was only around £500, so price alone wasn’t the deciding factor.

What made the difference for me was taking the time to do deeper research, speak to other customers, and look beyond brand recognition.

I was aware that Light Renewables had received some negative reviews during the pandemic period, but after understanding the context and speaking directly with other customers, I felt comfortable giving them a chance — and they absolutely delivered.

They installed 15 solar panels, a 15kw battery and inverter on 3 November, exactly as agreed. The installation team were professional, polite, and extremely tidy — they cleaned up thoroughly and walked me through the system before leaving. The system was live and working straight away.

What really stood out was the level of personal care and pride in their work. Daryl, the owner, personally attended my home with the electrician and spent time explaining how to optimise the system, including how to use Octopus Cozy effectively by charging the battery during cheaper off-peak hours. That level of hands-on involvement from the owner is rare and genuinely impressive.

All documentation was provided shortly afterwards (around a week later than expected, which honestly wasn’t an issue for me), and it was clear and helpful in understanding how to maximise savings. Payments have been made as agreed, and communication throughout has been good.

In my experience, Light Renewables are undervalued. They may be a smaller company, but they offer a far more personal and accountable service than some large household-name providers. My advice would be: give them a chance, be patient, and you’ll receive a high-quality system from a team that genuinely cares about customer satisfaction.

Excellent at installation 5+ years ago

However - I had to wait well over four months for new microprocessors to be installed - and that is after they had arrived at Light Renewables, because they had to be orfered first.

Many missed appointments. And, after that, refusal to come on site unless they were already in the area.

This issue has now been resolved, I am pleased to dsay. It took less than half an hour to carry out the work required.

I used this company to install my solar panels about 7 years ago. Since then everything was working fine but suddenly my inverter stopped working. So I contacted the company and they said not a problem as my inverter was still under warranty. It took awhile to get it replaced but was replaced free under warranty. And now I’m back up and running again. I would definitely recommend this company.

Light Renewables did a great job, planning and managing the installation very efficiently and sorting out scaffolding and roof repairs as well. I was really impressed! Very nice people too.

After years of saving, researching and planning, I had a final list of 3 companies, which led me to Light Renewables and they’ve been brilliant! We are finally solar powered. It’s been totally overcast since it was installed but we are so impressed with how much the system is still producing and it doesn’t stop till it’s completely dark (eve)! I had a number of quotes from various companies and was a little wary of using these guys as they were a lot cheaper than others. However they had come on a recommendation so went with them. Great service, quote, survey and install went through with no issues and little fuss. The aftercare has been excellent, all queries sorted with speed.

A profession service, right from the beginning to completion. The whole system was great value for money compared with market research i carried out before going with company. The technician who installed the system was highly experienced and knew exactly what he was doing. The guys who did the solar pannels were also phenomenal. The team delivered to highest standard possible. This is coming from a qualified chartered engineer. I would highly recommend this company. You will not be disappointed.

After completing a LOT of research, I received a recommendation for Light Renewables. In my initial enquiry I asked a lot of questions that were answered in a way that gave me confidence that they were a good choice. From the initial discussion, through the site visit and installation I found everyone I dealt with to me knowledgable, professional and thoroughly competent. I now have a system working well and an app that provides me with loads of useful data. I would have no hesitation recommending them to others.

I had my install with Light Renewables in July, which went really smoothly. They've been easy to get hold of before and after, and have really been responsive and helpful with a couple of snags. A good local company, competitively priced with good workmanship.

My experience of Light Renewables has been excellent to date.
The sales team were easy to deal with, without any pressure. The quoted cost compared well with other quotes.
The installation was completed without delay and is functioning well.
Hopefully there will be no problems, but at present I don't anticipate any.
