Light Renewables were excellent from start to finish. The installers were highly skilled and efficient and the whole installation went smoothly thanks to the expertise of the electrician. We would highly recommend and are very happy with our new system.

Light Renewables provided a very professional service from the start of our enquiry. Various options were fully explained and quotes were clear and comprehensive. The work was carried out as expected and to a very high standard. The team were friendly and professional and left everything clean and tidy. Light Renewables completed the essential administrative requirements and we were provided with all the information necessary to progress the new arrangements with our energy supplier. We are extremely satisfied with the installation.

We had a great experience with Light Renewables. They came to inspect our property and gave clear, practical recommendations on what would work best. Our south-facing roof has a dormer, so space was limited, but they came back with a sensible proposal.

The installation itself went really smoothly – everything was fitted neatly and without any issues. We ended up with 8 panels on the main roof and 4 on the dormer (5.1kWp in total), along with a 5kWh Pylontech battery. The full system is:
• 12 x 425W Sharp Solar Panels
• 1 x Solar Edge SE5000H
• 1 x Growatt SPA3000
• 1 x Pylontech US5000

I’m writing this about 15 months after the install, and the system has been excellent. Production is naturally lower for a few months of the year, but for most of the time we get free energy during the day, and the battery comfortably powers the house in the evenings. It’s definitely helped bring our costs down.

Octopus Intelligent + Tesla note (not directly about Light Renewables, but might be useful):
I’m on Octopus Intelligent and have a Tesla with a Wall Connector Gen 3. During handover, the Light Renewables electrician quickly set up the Pylontech battery in the ShinePhone app. I now have it scheduled to charge between 4:30–5:30am (the last off-peak hour), while the Tesla app ensures the car is charged by 4:30am. This prevents the car drawing from the house battery and leaving it empty in the morning.

The only catch is if the car is very low (around 10%) and I plug it in late while needing a full charge. In that case, it won’t reach 100% by 4:30am, and the Tesla app will stop the charge early. To get around this, I just adjust the Tesla app to finish later – which drains the house battery but ensures the car is fully charged. In my experience, it’s much easier to manage charging the car through the Tesla app than the Pylon Tech battery through the ShinePhone App.

Other than that, the setup has been seamless. I only use the ShinePhone app to monitor production, not to change settings. The only quirk I’ve noticed is that when I enter the Octopus export rate (currently £0.15), the ShinePhone app overestimates the earnings. That seems to be a ShinePhone issue rather than anything to do with Light Renewables.

Overall, Light Renewables delivered everything they promised, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering solar.

My system has broken down for the third time in 6 months and it was only up and running in September 2024. The App never sends alerts so I only find out by checking the app manually. So frustrating, I have lost 100’s of £s in lost energy.

Light Renewables were flexible and pleasant to deal with. They were efficient and practical on-site and cost effective. Very knowledgeable about solar power. Could improve response time to queries but just a minor point.

It has a been a very mixed experience.

On the positive side the team who installed the panels and other bits of hardware were excellent. They were efficient and very hardworking as well as very pleasant. The price was very competitive too compared with other companies.

My problems have come from the customer support angle. Even before installation there were disappointments when messages were promised but not delivered or arrived late. Emails were not replied to. After installation I had to remind them many times to get all the documentation that should have been handed over in one pack really directly after the work was completed. The biggest problem I had was getting help with understanding how the Soleredge and Growatt software functioned and although one person in the office did try to help they simply didn't have the knowledge so that was it. I was promised by the owner that the consumption data would be sent to me weekly as the system that was installed did not have that available to me. However I had to remind them the first week to send it and they haven't delivered it since then.
I think if you are familiar and comfortable with either the whole solar panel situation and know what you are doing or know the equipment they use then they are a good buy but if, like me, you are new to it all and will need some support with it then I am afraid they don't have the staff to help with that. The system they suggested I buy is complicated (for me) with effectively 2 inverters (as they produce their own batteries you have to have a separate system to run them) and I probably would have been better with a simpler set up.

We were recommended Light Renewables and have been extremely satisfied with their work. Matt has been very friendly and Amy and others in the office have been helpful and able to answer any queries.
On the installation day the team were conscientious and got the system up and running very quickly.
We were impressed with the value for money and would recommend their team and service.

Right from the beginning Light Renewables have provided a very friendly and professional service. The installation team carried out the work and did a very neat job. Apart from a delay in installing the battery , which was agreed upfront, it has been a very smooth process from beginning to end. The system had an early hiccup in but is now functioning very well. The remote monitoring picked up the issue and tech support got it sorted remotely. Early days but with the app it’s easy to monitor what and how the system is working. I would highly recommend Light Renewables as a company and the system is brilliant.

We had Michael come over and inspect the house and draw up the options for the installation - which several companies I had contacted, only do remotely.

The installation team was professional, efficient, and completed everything on time. The system is already saving us money. I monitor the stats via the app and correlate the data with the Octopus website.

Highly recommend this company for anyone considering solar – smooth process from start to finish!

From the first conversation to the final installation, the team at Light Renewables delivered a seamless and professional experience. I’d like to express my appreciation for the individuals who made this process smooth, informative, and efficient.

Mark Rodgers, Sales Manager, was my first point of contact and did a fantastic job explaining the whole process. He clearly outlined the technical setup, commercial advantages, and value proposition — which was particularly helpful as I compared Light Renewables with other providers (who quoted 2 to 3.5 times more). Mark's clarity and honesty set a strong foundation of trust.

Once I decided to proceed, Daryl Hogden helped close the deal and provided further insights and options to maximize the installation. His advice on getting the best value for money and fitting the maximum number of panels on my roof was spot on.

A big shout-out to the surveyor (whose name I unfortunately missed) for his professional site assessment. Everything went as planned thanks to his solid groundwork.

Catherine from the back office deserves special mention for her excellent coordination. She managed all the paperwork, scheduling, invoicing, and payments smoothly. She even arranged for two references from recent installations, which gave me additional confidence to firm up my decision based on a detailed conversation with them.

On installation day, Alex Rand led the electrical and cabling work with great precision, and was supported by Jack Croucher and Calum Seymour — the true "Spidermen" who swiftly installed the panels on the roof.

Cons:
They’re in high demand, so installation took around 2–3 weeks after deposit - but worth the wait!

Looking forward to seeing the long-term benefits of the system, and will provide an update after a couple of months of performance. Highly recommend Light Renewables to anyone considering a solar setup and happy to clarify any questions for prospective new customers!

An excellent trustworthy company. I have previously used Light Renewables for a solar installation and battery, on this occasion, Light renewables fitted a Zappy EV charger in my garage. The electricians did a very neat job. I did run into a snag after the charger was fitted which can be a problem if you also have a house battery, particularly if you use Octopus Intelligent Go. The charger can drain the house battery when charging the car overnight.
Daryl at LR was prepared to alter the wiring for me so as to prevent the house battery drain. A special thanks to Sergei and his assistant Brett, who did a brilliant job, very neat and tidy. LR are a very reliable company who can be trusted to stick with the customer if there any problems. We all know many companies who walk away from issues that can arise. LR are not one of those companies.

Excellent.
From initial enquiry to site visit was very quick. Thorough assessment of the property, roof and our requirements. Provided options that were exactly as requested. 19 panel system installed across two aspects was completed within a single day and is very neat. We had some over-voltage issues after installation, but these were due to the underground and overhead mains cables that connect the house to the grid. LR were helpful in getting UKPN involved in fixing this issue. Overall, very happy and would recommend.

From start to finish, this team have been amazing.

During the early days whilst enquiring, they weren't pushy with trying to sell a product. They gave me plenty of time on the phone to answer all my questions and helped advise me on what I needed.

During the home survey, again, they answered all my questions without attempting to sell more products.

During installation they were efficient and knowledgeable.

I will definitely be using them again and I would recommend anyone to go with them.

For anyone still in two minds; I did so much background research on them and still parted with my money - and I would again!!!

All great. We have 12 panels, and no battery as yet as our usage is so low we are going to assess over winter. Fitting fantastic - all done by mid afternoon, and all the documentation sent the following day. Just waiting now to get our excess exported to the grid.The App is easy to use. Really pleased with the whole experience

1930s place and some options were discussed. Daryl and the team were really flexible and have done an absolute fantastic job. Referring to my brother to do the same in their new bungalow in Lincoln which indicates a lot referring to family.

Update:

Additional 2 Panels and 2 x 15kw batteries anticipated for July. Been raking in about 4 kw peak sun. Be great to get G99 export when batteries are installed on the balcony.

Really pleased with the service and installation from Light Renewables. 12 500watt all black panels (7 on the front and 5 on the side) inverter and 2 7kw batteries.
The panel fitters were really quick and it looks better than I had thought.
The electricians were fantastic, they were the only firm who offered to route the cables under the floor from meter to garage 😀
Also very tidy wiring from loft to garage.
Al in all very pleased, just need certificates to start claiming for exporting electric.
