Emails on a daily basis? Why?
I have received lots of emails from this company, or saying they are from this company on a daily basis, why? Saying in my situation? What situation? Please be very careful not to click on anything. I feel it is important to advise individual as they clearly collect people details from other sources i.e. name to get your attention or 🐟 spam 🤔 Please do not contact anyone who contacts you first. Lots of 🐟ing out there.

Probably the worst investing app created. Don't bother downloading. Connecting and transferring from a bank is new impossible as it always fails and you have to contact M1 just to remove an old bank. Its an ordeal that should never have to be dealt with for a customer. Sign up elsewhere.
disingenuous company, no right to have their place in financial services. avoid at all cost
Zero customer service. They charge $100 for EVERY SINGLE ACCOUNT you have when transfer your money out from their brokerage service. They use social media and influencers to dramatically overblow the benefits of their service. At the end of day, you get a fancy mobile app with really bad trade execution and lots of fees. I will give this 0 if there were a rating. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There are so many full service brokerage firms out there that charge lesser fee and provide much better service.
Zero Customer Service
I initiated a rebalance on Sunday. It should've been completed at market open on Monday, according to M1. I emailed support Monday afternoon asking why it wasn't completed. M1 claims to respond within one business day. By Wednesday afternoon I still hadn't gotten a response and the rebalance was still pending. I've now initiated a transfer of my M1 account to Fidelity Investments.
STEER CLEAR OF BANKING OR CREDIT SERVICES
This company has a great platform— but an incredibly flawed system. Their credit card is a mess— I’ve only had it a couple months and used it with Apple Pay- somehow multiple companies I used it with had duplicate charges and those companies claim it never shown in their end.
I updated my address twice— emailed a picture of my license and address change on top of the two calls and was guaranteed that no new card would be sent out until my address was updated. I called a week later to find out they’d sent my card out and never updated my address. They “weren’t really sure why the address had not been updated“ and “wished there was a good answer for why.”
This company is basically in beta mode, so I would NOT UTILIZE their card or bank account services.
I have to say it has been nothing but a complete hassle. NOT WORTH IT.
Have written them 3 times and never gotten a response
Have written them 3 times and never gotten any response through their system other than a generic confirmation. I had my account liquidated, but still somehow managed to earn dividends on an investment. How can I earn dividends when everything was, supposedly, sold?
Then during the same liquidation process, because I changed banks, they wanted a whole lot of documentation. Mind you, they were able to transfer a small amount (which I used as a test) into the new account, but not the full liquidation. Interesting, right? So I ended up contacting BOA, who surprised me in their speed and efficiency so props to them, who got me a letter stating when the account was opened and closed and that managed to placate M1 so I was able to liquidate. Now, about a week after liquidating and getting all my money out, I somehow ended up with another dividend payment. Yes, more money for me, HOWEVER, if the investments were sold and funds liquidated and transferred into my account so that NOTHING was in the account, how is that possible? Sounds questionable, right?
I emailed them each time the dividend thing happened and got no response. I also asked how to deactivate the account. Surprise, no response. I don't recommend them to anyone. And for all those praising them for "long-term investments", curious to see in 10+ years how easy it is -- or isn't -- to actually get your money out.

Update January 2024 they issued me a check in the mail and they blocked my phone number bad bank . They claim that my account was closed because of suspicious fraudulent activity which I never did .

i never trust M1, called their hot line waited for 3 hours and queue no is 146. also within the same month of telecommunication service they send a sms to threaten to cut off my mobile line and also late payment charges of $10.80. did i authorise them to send sms to me, now even paper billing will require additional charges. totally unacceptable at all
I will never trust M1 again.
I opened a new account and successfully made an initial transfer to start my investement. I also setup a reoccuring transfer every two weeks which never happened. I tried to manually transfer money in but told the account was froze. I opened a ticket and the only response I've received so far is to upload a pic of me holding my photo ID. Now my account is locked. They asked for a photo again a few days later claiming the first uplod did not work, even though I can successfully view the photo using the link they sent to confirm the upload. It has now been 10 days - I email every day asking for an update and get no response. I just want to get money back so I can go to a service that actaully cares about their customers.
Another M1 Disaster
I decided to update my review. Unfortunately it is worse. Another example of why I have been very concerned about M1's practices. So I have a credit card on file that is perfectly valid. There is nothing wrong with the card and I later confirmed this with Citibank. M1 charged my M1 spend account which then created insufficient funds because I did not expect this charge. Then to make matters worse M1 is not taking responsibility that something got screwed up with their system and turning it back on me. This is their MO and not the first time something like this has happened. Really starting to consider leaving M1 even though it will cause me a lot of work but I just don't trust this company right now.
Just got charged a $24 return fee for no funds...unreal...
Another bad thing about M1 is they only allow you to add one checking account to pay bills. That totally sucks because I have multiple checking accounts to pay certain things. Very limited.
More updates to M1. Just noticed BP gas use to be 5% cash back. They moved it down to 2.5%. They continue to make changes that are not for the customer. I am working on my exit strategy.
More updates. Now M1 is charging people a monthly charge to be an M1 Plus member unless you have over $10,000. Its a scam because they are removing more compaines from their reward teirs. M1 is really a con artist company. I am getting my plan together to move everything out of M1.
Customer service is simply placation till you leave and let them steal your money quietly. Do not use this broker.
I have been getting the error this account has been locked for months now. The customer service just runs me around in circles. They tell me it was a problem with an outside subcontractor, and it was fixed. I go to log in again and I am still locked out of my account. Meanwhile my credit card is racking up late fees and dings to my credit history and my margin loan is liquidating shares when I have plenty of money in the bank. I can't stress this enough this has been going on for literal months. I have tens of thousands invested with M1 and this is how their customer service treats me. I am about to lawyer up. I would strongly recommend no one do business with these crooks. They don't even have a phone line to call and clearly do not give a damn about their screw ups. They just liquidate your stock rack up massive charges for late fees on your card and pass off halfhearted placations to get you to go away while they drain you dry. Do not make the same mistake I did this company is a pure scam!
Non-existent customer service
Tried to open a trust account which requires several pdf forms to be submitted. Submitted the forms and nothing happened. Emailed them and received an auto case creation email, which no one replied to. Emailed again and received another one. M1's customer service is terrible. I'm so glad I didn't actually deposit any money. There is not a phone number anywhere to contact them. I like the idea of their system but at this point I can trust them with my cash.
Bugs in M1 Finance Platform. Cost and Avg. price incorrect.
Love M1Finance because of the simplicity of its platform. But recently I've been having issues with them. Not sure if its some bugs or something. I performed a trade that was supposed to execute in the afternoon (posted it around 2pm E.T) . After the pm session was ended, my trade was still pending; resulting of me missing entry in that position cause the next day that stock was up more than 5%.
My most frustrating issues with them is that if you are not careful you'll notice sometimes the costs of the stocks and their average share prices don't match. I have to spend times to do all the calculations myself before a customer representative has to fix it. You'll find out sometimes the gains in the pie platform and the holdings tab are completely different; kind of out of proportion.
Scared M1 is trying to steal our money
I had a family member transfer money to my m1 spend balance and they said it was unusual activity so they blocked my card and after several phone calls they asked me to verify my identity again which I did then they asked for a bank statement from the external account which I gave them and they still refuse to unblock my account I have literally a few thousand dollars in the account they refuse to release to me we are going on over a week now and I’m getting very very upset I want my money and they are refusing to unlock my card and they said something about sending the money back to the account it came from but that $ was sent because that account is now closed I’m so upset with this place if they ever decide to unblock my account/card I’m taking my money out of there and closing the account I thankfully had a back up plan but had I not I would have lost my job and everything being stranded out on the roads with no way of returning home after my grandpa sent the money for his and my own circumstances as I’m his poa and have always helped with finances but this bank or whatever they wanna call thenselves in mine and my grandpas eyes is trying to steal our money

My experience has been positive. Their Spend account offers very competitive rates. Transfering funds is easy and efficiently. Have not traded that much with them, but my experience has been positive too.

They liquidated my holdings when I transferred my account without my authorization, which inadvertently lost me thousands. I followed up several times and they chose to ignore the issue, hoping it would go away. This is still ongoing. Their software is also super buggy, which makes adjusting pies super annoying sometimes. But the pie-based stock concept is a really good idea and should be more widely adopted.
