Stay clear of the Manhattan TV box
Had this box as a gift from my family and as it is not fit for purpose it makes me feel guilty that they have lost their hard earned money. So what are the problems. Box started freezing, flashing screen, saying hard drive was full when 82% empty. Recordings either part recorded or never did. Signal between box and remote ceased so could not use it. Spoke to their support and was not impressed. Onus put back onto customer. In their opinion the aerial was not new enough, the tv was too old. Wrong HDMI socket used. Box needed to be used upstairs instead of downstairs. Every excuse used and they would not admit the box was faulty. No replacement offered so as long as they have your money they dont care about their customers.
Beyond The Call Of Duty
I have a Manhattan T3-R 500gb Freeview Smart Recorder which I have used successfully with my non-smart TV for several years. Bought a new smart TV which recognised my Manhattan Box but would not perform properly - mainly unable to record programs. E-mailed Manhattan for help, and got a prompt reply from Mukesh, who asked for my phone number to talk me through the process. He called today and talked me through the not so simple TV / Manhattan connection process with patience and good humour. He then talked me through the complicated software update process then went through all the other settings to make sure everything was AOK. Exemplary customer service - much more human than the faceless conglomerates where you wait ages being told your call is important then have to press various buttons before you arrive back where you started. Thank you Mukesh, you are a great ambassador for Manhattan.
SECOND one we have bought⊠again broken !
This is the SECOND one we have bought in 13 months (only bought this one 3 months ago and receipt now binned ) and already not working properly. I am far to busy with my full-time job and family commitments to be going back and forward, back and forward and writing things in triplicate and taking photo`s and emailing them as `proof`, etc, etc. I am sure the company rely on people being too busy to complain, and just make shoddy equipment anyway. Get your act together and start treating customers with a bit more respect.

Had a bad software update to my Manhattan TV recorder which meant I couldnât play recordings. Got in touch with their tech support who were all amazing. Very responsive. Answered the phone within 3 rings and always answered emails the same day. They even called twice to see how things were progressing. Best tech support team Iâve ever needed.

We have had our T3.R box now for about 7 weeks. We had problems nearly straight away with box turning itself off and not being able to turn channels over. Got in touch with manufacturer and had to factory reset the whole box again and start all apps again which took a while. That was two weeks ago and the box freezes when Iâm on the BBC Iplayer app. I have to turn box off at the plug and wait a few minutes. Iâm a bit annoyed at this happening. Itâs not what I was expecting after reading such good reviews.

Fantastic customer service. Our T2-R freeview box is really easy to use. We have rung customer service a couple of times and found them to be very helpful and friendly. This week we had a minor problem and they are sending us a USB update in the post free of charge even through the box is now over 2 years old. Can't ask for more..

Terrible customer service. Woman was raising her voice, talking over me and not listening. I told her it was bad customer service and she stated she didn't care. I was only trying to register the guarantee. Returned the item.

Slick interface and very fast
I recently bought a T3-R box to replace our Humax which had finally given up the ghost after several years. The Manhattan is whisper quiet and very zippy to use. It does tend to cut off recordings a bit too promptly, perhaps this will be fixed in a future firmware update? I am however delighted with it. It also takes up much less room than the Humax.

I'm fed up of the box locking up causing me to keep switching it off completely. It's been changed once with no difference on the new one. It fails to record programs and adds some for 2015

I had trouble recording some programmes.
If I wish to record multiple programmes with the same name on the same day (craft channel), the box only records the first programm, and flags any others as already recorded. So unless I stay in to watch, THE MACHINE IS USELESS.
Also when recording certain films that are split by a news update, It records as two separate recordings,
so to watch the film i have to start the second recording - and it generally misses the start of the second one.
I emailed Manhattan and they blame the broadcasters.
Would not a simple (old fashioned) timer recording facility fix this?????.
Buy yourselves any other recoding device. I wasted £180 on this, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this to anyone

The Manhattan T3-R Freeview Box is sold as an all sing and dancing box. No its is not in our experience. It has failed at 12 months old and despite being assured that it was registered via the phone by an agent they now say they have no record, how convenient!!! Denying you have registered this when you have been phoned up and you confirm on that call you have done so and then deny it, is in my mind despicable!! you know we have no way of proving it so you can suffer the consequnces of this review. All we get is an argumentative technical rep who tried to tell us Amazon should resolve this, Amazon say Manhattan should resolve this problem, mean while we have box fit for the bin. Thanks Manhattan!! Are you kidding me!!! Companies like this make me sick, take the money and RUN is that the philosophy?? To all readers be aware this is what you can expect from Manhattan!

i have used other makes of pvr and found them to be very poor
tried the manhattan t3-r and have found it to be an excellent machine far superior to the other top pvrs that I have bought. I have not been able to fault this machine.
I even contacted them for some help setting up my other devices to all work together. again their support was excellent. cannot rate them highly enough
