I signed up for a monthly donation as I felt this was a worthy cause, even since, I have been inundated with post, text and more doorstep visits requesting more money. Looks like they now see me as an... もっと見る

In my experience, Marie Curie plays games with the UK's most emotionally vulnerable! They will ask you to register your details with them. They will ask you how you're coping. They will assure you tha... もっと見る

Door-to-door trickery
I had a door-to-door salesman trick me into donating to this charity using really cliche tactics like complimenting me, making jokes, guilt tripping me, and trying to talk really fast to trap me in the conversation. I made a payment just to make him go away. The irony is, he was raising money for mental health and, as a person who suffers with anxiety myself, the guy used my clear discomfort to get money from me. What’s worse is they’ve bombarded me with phone calls every day since, to the point I’ve had to block their number. This is why organisations don’t do door-to-door volunteering anymore, because it’s creepy and invasive. I previously had a positive view of this charity but I wouldn’t trust them after this experience
Caring and compassionate
Caring and compassionate
My mum recently died at home from metastatic bowel cancer. The last week of her life was harrowing but 3 visits from Marie Curie staff were a godsend. All the staff were caring and compassionate and their presence gave family members chance to catch up on some sleep. They were there when other prearranged support had abandoned us, and I will never forget their kindness.
In addition, their range of booklets are easy to read and practical and I am currently finding ‘When Someone Dies’ invaluable.

Keep up the good work
Just had a door knocker supposedly…
Just had a door knocker supposedly seeking donations for Marie Curie.
Wanted me to sign up then and there.
NO
I asked for a leaflet that I could read about Marie Curie and make an informed decision.
NONE
This felt like a scam.
FOOT NOTE.
Have rung Marie Curie and they have had operatives in the area from July 29th.
It would be helpful if they had leaflets to give out to enable people to respond in their own time after due consideration.
A fantastic service
The three marie curie nurses we had overnight ( calderdale), were fabulous, it meant we could have some sleep. They all looked after our mum wonderfully on each occasion, but we must give a special mention to Ken, Ken was amazing with mum, he sat and held her hand the whole night, he calmed her when she was stressed and all her overall care needs. When I got up the next morning she was the most relaxed I'd seen her for a long time and she slept after he left. I cannot thank him enough for the feeling of relief I felt. Unfortunately mum died a few days later, but Ken will get a special mention at her funeral and will forever have our gratitude.

I am not comfortable handing debit card details to a stranger!
Someone came to our door, I was interested but I am not at all comfortable with handing my debit card details to a stranger, even they do so via the website.
Get me to scan a QR code which takes me to your website with details of the salesman attached. I can then check the site out in my own time and make sure everything is ok before committing fully, plus your salesman can move swiftly on to the next customer.
As it happened you just wasted my time, and hers.
Cheeky visit
Adbi Farah visited my house in Mid-Wales and was honestly such a pleasant and funny guy to talk to. I’m unfortunately a little too young to be able to contribute much to this charity but I can easily tell the people apart of this charity are incredibly compassionate and positive with the sensitive work they do! Five starts for Adbi!!
Dustin and Sophia
Met Dustin and Sophia today. Absolutely lovely people, kind, caring and very professional. There should be more people in the world like them ❤️
My night angels!
The Marie Curie South West Nursing team stepped in to night sit my husband for the last weeks of his life. Without them I would not have been able to share the little quality time he had left. They were diligent, compassionate and always ready with a hug for me, just when I needed it…thank you so much!
Care and compassion in abundance
as with a lot of families our lives are shattered when a relative is very ill with cancer. Last night my dear brother sadly died in Marie Curie in Elswick, Newcastle. His care by Doctor Kit, nurses, axillary staff and every person we came into contact with, was so genuine and humbling i am lost for the words to thank them. Everyone treat my brother with the up most dignity, care and understanding. I wanted some how to let them know how much they helped us knowing he was in such good hands and also how they made us feel. Every day whoever came on shift came in to see if were ok, did we need anything. You all spoke so caringly to our brother, although he wasnt awake, you were so gentle and when you went off shift you called in to say goodbye as you knew that it could be that last time you would see him because you didnt have a shift for a few days. A big thank you to the chef on last night who kindly made us a tray of sandwiches, crisps etc for our over night vigil with our brother, sadly he didnt make it over night, but the compassion was unmeasurable, we are so grateful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts from Mike's family x
Marie Curie representative
Abdi Farah who represents Mari Curie came to visit my home and town to raise awareness and money for this amazing and worthy charity. He was an amazing representative and was positive and passionate about the charity which is, from experience, worthy of this level of representation. Thank you Abdi for doing such an amazing job as well as being so kind, knowledgeable and approachable!
Mariecurie are running an advertising…
Mariecurie are running an advertising campaign to donate £23 for an hour of care.
Now I'm all for supporting charities as I've given £10 a month to Cancer Research for the past 17 years.
I have been a working man for over 40 years and presently earn £12.60 an hour, working 6 days a week, 10 hours a day during this cost of living crisis.
I'm sorry, but I'm not going to donate double my hourly rate to anybody which equates to £60,000 a year.
I suggest you ask for a more reasonable amount
Superb service.
My nephew is presently being cared for at the Newcastle upon Tyne Marie Curie hospice, where he has little time left, and I could not think of a better place to be considering his predicament.
The entire staff is professional and friendly to a fault: even the food is good, and that's saying something.
The consultants, nurses, doctors, receptionists and auxilliaries, etc, go out of their way to look after my beloved nephew in his final weeks, and I am very grateful to them.
What an amazing team of people
What an amazing team of people
My father in law is on end of life care and we have had amazing support
Last night we had Tracy from Thornton, she was so caring and considerate to the needs of a dying man and the support for us as a family was amazing…… she made us feel safe and secure to get some sleep
Cannot believe her kindness
Thank you Marie Curie
Marie Curie Nurses are Angels. Thank you for helping our Pops pass peacefully.
The Nurse from Marie Curie who visited us was an Angel for our Pops who passed away at home in January. Pops was in a lot of pain but the nurse new when he was almost ready to go and helped him pass peacefully and also gave our Mother peace aswell. Thank you Marie Curie.
Marie Curie eCards - beware!
This is a review of Marie Curie's ecard web offering, not their organisation in general which I believe does sterling work and deserves five stars.
On Christmas Eve, I sent three Christmas eCards to my family. When I came to open the cards via the link in the confirmation email I was sent, it had substituted the names I had put in the 'Who's it from?' box ! So in effect, the cards were seemingly addressed to the people that sent it!
Turns out the version received by the recipient had the correct 'to' value shown on the card. But nevertheless, a poor show.
