Nailed through a cable and left me with no power while fitting new carpet.

On top of that, the customer service was poor and rude — staff argued and shouted in my home, there was no apology, and no offer to find what caused issue or provide compensation. Very disappointing - I'd avoid.

Edit: You did attend my property, and there was an argument about whether you caused the issue. To state “you did not attend” is simply untrue.

You also claim the fault was pre-existing without ever inspecting the affected area. The power failed immediately after your fitters nailed the grippers down — draw your own conclusions.

I stand by my review.

We have used MCK on three occasions, but the most recent experience was unacceptable and has changed our view of the company.

Electrical issue during fitting
While the carpet was being fitted, the power tripped and a damaged cable was identified. Despite this occurring during their attendance, MCK immediately asserted that it “could not be them”, relying on general theory rather than investigating what actually happened at the property.

We were left without power because the electrician MCK relied upon was on holiday. I carried out a temporary repair myself. MCK refused to acknowledge responsibility.

Although MCK may state that they “offered solutions”, those offers were framed without accountability. Inspections were conditional and carefully positioned to avoid liability rather than establish cause.

Fitting quality and workmanship
Since bringing fitting in-house, quality has declined. The first installation was poor, the follow-up failed to correct it, and only on the third visit was the carpet finally cut, trimmed and stretched properly. Fitters also left a bag of carpet waste behind for us to dispose of ourselves.

Conduct
Staff were dismissive and defensive throughout.

Conclusion
This was not miscommunication, it was a systematic avoidance of responsibility combined with declining workmanship. A simple on-site inspection, accountability and quality control would have prevented this. We would not recommend MCK based on this experience.

(Replies below are untrue, electrican offered was to check the work I completed outright refused to confirm the source of the problem, we were left the entire day before anyone attended not immediately, they did not ask to attend to check measurements, re-strech is also untrue as it also needed to be cut down.)

Just had most rooms re-carpeted by MCK. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Very helpful from start to finish. Great service & selection & the fitters were excellent.

I have used MCK Flooring several times and they always offer excellent standard, choice, communication and fitting. They fitted us in very quickly after a delay that was unavoidable.

Recently had lvt flooring fitted supplied by mck flooring. The staff have been very helpful and professional and ensured everything went smoothly. The fitter worked hard and did a great job within the time frame. I would highly recommend this company.

MCK were a pleasure to deal with , very professional, competitively priced and extremely attentive, we had a runner up the stairs (which was measured whipped and fitted on the day) hall 3 bedrooms dressing room and ensuite flooring all fitted in 1 afternoon, the fitters were very professional friendly and did an amazing job, and left no mess , we would 100% recommend this family company

10/10 – We visited their store in Saltney to browse flooring styles and get a rough idea of the cost. They were very friendly and helpful. We found a style we liked and their prices were significantly lower than other quotes we had received, so we decided to go with them. They carried out the screeding, fitted both carpet and laminate flooring. The results look fantastic and we're really pleased with both the finish and the price!

Would highly would choice these let you pay off bit by bit monthly book you in, flooring amazing would defo go to these again, the layer was so lovely helped me with door trimmers where needed didn't ask for extra for this either, the people so lovely

I have had parquet LVT throughout my bungalow. All dealings with MCK have been great all staff very friendly and helpful. Fitting went smoothly and very pleased with the result. My son had carpet fitted in his lounge and again . Estimate very competitive and lots of choice . Fitter was quick and efficient

Failed to advise the sub-contractor that my original floor was oak, so it is going to take longer than the planned 1 day. As it was booked in for a Friday, my idea floor has been ripped up and I am left without a floor in my living room until Tuesday at the very earliest.

MCK claim the sub-contractor was made aware, he says differently.

As well as this, there has been damage done to various parts of living room.

I’ve had 1 call from them to advise they would look into it ‘asap’. Since then, nothing. Unacceptable.

I highly recommend this Company. The staff are very helpful, communication is effortless (very important!) and the price undoubtedly competitive. The job was done with the minimum of fuss and, even though I had gone for a 'budget' carpet, the quality is excellent!

From the initial consultation the company have been extremely flexible with fitting dates. They prepared the floor prior to being laid which resulted in an exceptional final fit. Although we had a minor issue MCK quickly sorted this resulting in a floor that more than meets out expectations, this is a company I highly recommend and will definitely be our first choice for flooring in the future. I'm a returning customer after having carpets put in over three years ago so didn't even think twice about where to go when I moved home. Communication and support throughout from Mck flooring is the best in my opinion. Great customer support throughout from Becky, fast and reliable. Chris was absolutely fantastic, what a lovely, polite nice guy and nothing was too much trouble. I'm extremely pleased with my new carpets and looking forward to getting the rest of the home booked in soon. Thanks guys! X

Brilliant experience from first visiting in store to the final fitting!
The employee at the MCK Flooring store in Chester went above and beyond to give us the best options, prices and information about which carpet would be best suited for what we needed.
Turn around time from choosing what we wanted to then actually getting the carpet fitted was just under a week which we were really happy with as we wanted it in before Christmas.
Price wise they are extremely affordable in comparison to a lot of other places which is massive bonus.
We had some additional requirements which was no problem to them at all. Becky was brilliant and dealt with everything seamlessly for us, making sure we were kept up to date with the process and just providing an overall great service.
Definitely will be using them again!!

I have never been disappointed by MCK. Top quality service from start to finish. Chose carpet and it was fitted within the week on day of my choice. Becky in the office was really helpful throughout and
