I have been training for my RCI assessment recently and been out climbing with Martin 3 times now! He is an incredible instructor, makes you feel super safe at an all times. I highly recommend if your thinking of learning as a beginner or updating your skill set. Helps you understand very patiently, really wants to help and make sure you have fun too. Whether your setting up, abseiling, belaying or on the rock he will make sure you are always safe and comfortable and take you through every bit step by step. Looking forward to climbing some more once I’ve passed my assessment. Lots of fun. Beautiful locations. Amazing instructor.

Martin is an excellent instructor who has massively built my confidence trad climbing. He is very patience and makes sure to always put safety and your wellbeing first. Additionally, he is extremely knowledgeable but happy to admit if he doesn't know something.

I highly recommend Martin if you are looking for a sport or trad instructor.

Martin is an excellent instructor. He’s clearly an experienced climber and he combines technical knowledge and on-the-crag wisdom very effectively. I’m pleased to have met him and look forward to arranging further sessions in the future!

I had got stuck with my outdoor sports leading & Martin broke it down into logical steps to enable me to return to leading with confidence and more importantly enjoyment. Martin is very calm, relaxed, knowledgeable and experienced. He pitched his teaching tips perfectly, demonstrating by ‘doing’ and then encouraging my progress. I have planned more sessions with him 🙂

Thank you Martin! We had amazing 2 days, learning a ton about trad climbing. From theoretical understanding of the systems we need to put in place to getting to get straight on hands-on. Loved how you adapted your teaching approach according to us, knowing that we have both very different perspectives and skills. I really had a great time and come back super motivated to pursue this sport more ✨

I recently did a days climbing with Martin at Portland with 2 adults and 2 children aged 9 and 6. We had agreed prior to the day what we wanted to achieve, which was to come away with the adults being able to confidently belay the children and for us all to have fun.

It was our first time rope climbing, we all boulder regularly.

We had a great day, Martin was great to spend the day with. He spent time running through the various belay devices, advantages and disadvantages of each one. We then went through making sure we could harness the children safely, as well attaching them to the belay rope.

We then climbed a number of routes over the day, Martin always checked all of our work before we climbed or belayed. He was great with the kids, we all come away having enjoyed the days climbing and learnt a lot.

Martin supplied all the equipment we didn’t have.

It was a great day, we wouldn’t hesitate in booking Martin again.

Great instructor for a recent trad course we did. 2 super enjoyable days with lots of tailored learning. Martin was really considerate to our out of the ordinary request and overall a really personable guy. Would 100% recommend !

A friend and I did a full day course with Martin at Fairy Cave quarry where we learnt the basics of leading trad. We had a great day and he taught us how to building belays and confidently place gear. We both led a route (on top rope) and he was on a fixed line next to us talking us through our gear placement and rated the quality of our gear. It was a great day and helped build my confidence to start leading. I would highly recommend going out climbing with Martin :)

We had a really great day on Portland with Martin and his Dad. We were a mixed group of differing ambition and ability but Martin made sure everyone felt safe and yet also challenged. The kids aged 15,13 & 10 all loved the experience and are keen to climb again. Martin was punctual, organised and fun to spend time with.

Third time climbing with Martin. The whole family enjoyed it! Love being in the wild epic landscape and doing something challenging but achievable. Will be back soon! thanks

We had a brilliant learn to lead trad course with Martin. He broke everything down in bits that suited our levels, I learned loads and enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you!

We had a great weekend of climbing - Martin is very friendly, patient and great at explaining gear placement and anchors. As we progressed, he quickly adapted the sessions and I felt very safe which made the whole experience really fun and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend!

My partner and I had the BEST day climbing with Martin. Due to last minute changes completely out of anyone’s control he was quick to react and arranged an alternative (and I think better) venue for us to enjoy. He was friendly, supportive, knowledgeable and we felt we were in a safe pair of hands. Would definitely book again. Thank you so much.
