RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNTRUSTWORTHY, DISGUSTING AND UPSETTING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

Absolutely disgusting treatment and service (if that's what you can call it) received at the hands of the probate team of this alleged professional solicitors!!

They made a traumatic and deeply upsetting period of losing our Father, 10 times worse, more painful and protracted by their rude, curt, unprofessional, duplicitous and inefficient handling of our Fathers very simple probate....what should have taken a few months, took nearly 2 years with nothing being actioned unless we chased them, and when we did, we were met with blunt, rude an unsympathetic excuses and responses (reads a lot like some of the other reviews on this website, which this company clearly doesn't read, or if they do, they don't give a rat's a$$ about, they just want your money).

And yes, in light of the above, to add insult to injury, our original quote for their 'services' of between £6,500 and £8,500 ended up being £11,500...we still have no idea how they arrived at this exorbitant figure!

This whole episode drove my Sister to tears and me to become enraged,

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DO!

Esther Marshall

I contacted Mullis & Peake to review my settlement agreement after being made redundant. It was an easy choice of firm as our previous experience with them was exceptional.

Esther Marshall talked me through all the pertinent points of the settlement agreement, clearly and in layman’s terms. She asked the right questions and gave good solid advice (obviously has a lot of experience in her field).

She is very friendly, responsive and gets things done. I highly recommend her if you need an employment lawyer and the firm, in general. The high standard of service is consistent regardless of department or matter.

Inheritance dispute

We cannot thank Martyn enough for his advice and support in resolving our inheritance dispute. Our only regret is that we didn’t retain Mullis & Peake at the outset of our problem, 5 years ago.

Before we found Martyn Trennery, Consultant, Litigation Dept., Romford branch, we had retained another firm of solicitors to act on our behalf as we wished to buy out our brother’s 1/3 share of our parents’ house. What should, in theory, have been a speedy transfer of cash for title (he had no interest in keeping the property himself) turned into a 5-year costly and protracted dispute with a suspicious co-beneficiary.

Feeling frustrated with the lack of practical advice and shocking response times at the other firm, we found Martyn and we are so glad that we did.

In a very short time, he had built a relationship with the solicitor acting for our brother and guided us all towards a full and final settlement agreement, which is exactly what we wanted 5 years ago.

Martyn & the team were very responsive, pragmatic and down to earth.

We would also like to mention the reception staff who were very friendly and efficient.

We have recommended Mullis & Peake to several friends and will continue to use them for all our future legal needs.

STAY CLEAR the staff are horrendous and ignorant rude always chased them and took top rate money no pleasantness always out on holiday don’t matter what office u went to they always at other office no one wanted to give you straight answers I would NEVER RECOMMEND them disgraceful customer service especially when they are talking to bereaved people no compassion rude longs they get there money that’s all they cared about we done most of my dads will all they had to really do is cross talk and dot i’s but still took the highest rate of money they could

Beware this incompetent

Beware this incompetent, lying probate solicitor!

After Mullis & Peake probate solicitor, Mannie Islam took nearly a year to submit an application for grant of probate, I filed an official complaint with the Chairman of Mullis & Peake, Martyn Trenerry. I drew particular attention to the fact Mannie’s only communication during a critical period was one vague email and NO phone calls. The following written response serves as a perfect example of Mannie’s many convoluted lies:

‘Other than a brief period before Christmas (when I was on holiday in Australia) and early in the New Year (when I was unwell), we have always been in regular dialogue by email and telephone (mainly telephone)’

Because solicitors keep detailed records of all communications for billing purposes, these particular lies are easy to disprove. Accordingly, in the following response to the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Esther Marshal had no alternative but to admit Mannie was lying:

‘The firm have acknowledged that you only received one communication in the eight-month period outlined’

Despite the fact that I sent NO emails during that same time period, and have well documented proof that Mannie had earlier invited me to Mullis & Peake’s Romford office, without informing my fellow beneficiary until after our meeting, Mannie instructed Esther to submit the following lie to The Legal Ombudsman:

‘The firm have explained that they had an obligation to maintain open communications with both beneficiaries, and as a result of this, did not respond to some of Mr Rumney’s emails, so as to not prefer one beneficiary over the other.’

Instead of speeding things up, my complaint caused Mannie to deliberately slow the application for grant of probate down. By refusing my written request for help, Mullis & Peake's extremely sweet yet completely ineffectual Chairman, Martyn Trenerry allowed Mannie to drag the application out for a further two years.
When Mannie realized he had forgotten to make me sign a letter of engagement he went so far as to deny I had ever been his client. Despite written evidence to the contrary, he instructed Esther to repeat this lie to The Solicitors Regulation Authority and The Legal Ombudsman.
All-up, it took Mannie three years to have not one, but two, incorrect forms rejected by The Probate Registry. Despite the fact I have no knowledge of probate law, Mannie instructed Esther to lie to The Legal Ombudsman, claiming that I specifically instructed him to submit the wrong form.
Mannie threatened to charge me extra to submit the correct forms if I pursued the matter, had one of the replacement forms rejected by misspelling my mother's name, lost the original will in the post, instructed Esther to lie to the Solicitors Regulation Authority and The Legal Ombudsman about the date he filed an IHT400 tax return then refused multiple requests to provide a dated copy. Mannie then falsely blamed HMRC for losing the return he hadn’t submitted.
By falsely promising to recover money stolen by my brother, Mannie lied his way into the position of substitute executor. This meant I simply could not rid myself of him or his exorbitant fees. In order to settle this cashed up estate with a comprehensive will, I had no choice but to retain another solicitor to bring Mannie and Mullis & Peake under control. The Legal Ombudsman eventually fined Mannie, but he laughed that off as a complete waste of everybody's time.
The moral of this story is, do a little research. Don’t run the gauntlet like I did. It’s really not that hard. There are only four forms to choose from and the Probate Registry does all the work. In my case it was about as tricky as renewing a passport. Unlike me, you can learn how long each step of the three month process should take. Keep control of the probate solicitor you are paying while suffering through the loss of a loved one, and never let them talk you into relinquishing control!
Always read the firm's real reviews, and get everything in writing. Oh, and if you’re worried that someone with knowledge of the law will sue me for libel, don’t be. I have it on very good authority the truth can never be libellous. When these extremely serious accusations, for Mannie, his colleagues, and his firm, force Mullis & Peake to take action against me I will finally be able to obtain written proof of the many other lies Mannie caused Esther Marshal to tell The Legal Ombudsman and Solicitors Regulation Authority during their respective investigations.

These have been working I say that lightly as we did most of the work chasing companies ect my dads will was so straight forward a five year old could sort it with all the stuff we did they don’t answer your calls unless you keep on or threatening them with ombudsman it’s taken 2 years plus they only work on the case if you contact them there words as well as ours I would never work with this company again they have no empathy for anyone bad company it started June 2022 to now

Samantha Hamilton has been dealing with my daughters finances since 2015 since my daughter moved into residential care . She has never met my daughter who is mentally and physically handicapped with rett syndrome with no capacity but when I asked for items for her that she needs to help her in her daily life , wheelchair mobility car ect all I get told is my daughter does not have enough money which I find unbelievable as in the 9 years they have dealt with her finances my daughter has only had peanuts of them and keep refusing items that she really needs . They have allowed her money to accumulate so much that dwp have now stopped her benefits so please can someone make this make sense in my head that she has no funds but yet dwp have stopped her benefits because she has to much money that they have just let accumulated over the 9 years . I have never even spoken with Samantha Hamilton or set eyes on her and neither has my daughter so how can someone make these decisions when they don't even understand my girls needs . How is my daughter supposed to access the community and she has missed out on so much like weddings and family functions because there is no way of getting her to these places without an adapted vehicle . We are taking black cabs everywhere which is costing a small fortune and I am left to buy everything she needs out of my own pocket because it kills me to see her go without when there is no need for this as she had plenty of funds that they refuse her access to . So I'm sorry my advise is to avoid this company if you wish your loved ones to have a good standard of life then go somewhere else because she had taken my poor daughters life away and allows her to live in poverty when there is no need for this . I'm treated like some common crimal and get told that she hasn't got a bottomless money pot when I ask for things that my daughter actually needs. My daughter has grown out of her wheelchair and her feet are actually falling through the foot rest so when asked to purchase a new one I was told to go to NHS which is around a years waiting list and we did actually go to NHS in March of this year and she got refused because all they can offer her is a basic wheelchair which just isn't suitable for her needs . I have had enough now so will be complaining to everyone that mattes until we can get the power of attorney taken of this company

2 years and still trying to sort my


2 years and still trying to sort my late mothers estate.
It’s been the worst service from the start and has gone to another level when I actually sat next to my accountant while he spoke to my solicitor and asked her for documents that he was told she could not forward.
30 minutes later I sent an email asked for exactly the same to which I was told of course she could but she hadn’t thought that was what my accountant had asked for
. Its shocking!
I’ve actually started cc in who she reports into 
Not that’s it’s made any difference he ignores my calls and emails too.
Just the worst solicitors I’ve ever dealt with and many other people I speak to who have used this company have also said how appalling their service was too

Thank you Alison.
I used Mullis & Peake due to needing a solicitor for divorce and force of sale proceedings. Alison was always available, kept me updated at all times and gave me the best advice for my situation. I felt well looked after, her expertise in this field meant the right decisions/orders were made and I was supported throughout. She really did go above and beyond. Thank you so much. If I ever need anyone for legal again, I will now only use Alison, Mullis & Peake.

Extremely poor service at high cost

So far this company has taken over 3 1/2 years to administer a deceased relative's estate and it is still not completed. Throughout they have blamed everyone else for the delay which at the moment is HMRC's fault. It seems nothing gets done until we ask what is happening. We get minimal communication and are being charged maximum fees for this appalling lack of service. Would not recommend their use as Executors to anyone.

Do yourselves a favour and do not use them. Conveyancers do not respond even after persistent requests for contact and updates we get nowhere. As a result of these constant delays and lack of willingness to resolve a situation I have had to move my possessions into storage and sleep on the floor at a family members. In my opinion, Samantha Hamilton, is an alleged narcissist.

In my opinion, Samantha Hamilton is an alleged narcissist. I would not recommend her firm Mullus and Peake, either, even if my life depended on them. She will also be even harder to get hold of, to work on your file, since being, fairly recently, granted the power to deal with the property and financial affairs of missing people, or hostage victims, by the Office of the Public Guardian. It has been 7 years and still we wait for Samantha to devise a Statutory Will, which a Judge at the Court of Protection, ordered, on 28.04.2015, after I requested one. The Honourable Judge also ordered an investigation into the underselling of a huge Highbury house, by my mother, a non practising barrister and clever business woman, to NHS and private doctors, on what would have been her dead baby brother’s, a retired doctor’s, birthday, 12.03.2014 and that appears to have been shelved, even after I rang the Senior Partner in 2019 and he quickly organised a meeting with a Barrister, Samantha and my siblings. When I first rang Samantha Hamilton, more than 7 years ago, she batted off with that she got the “difficult” cases, eg a retired doctor GP, who used to keep walking into her Solicitors’ Offices to complain. He evidently had some mental capacity, to find their address in Romford, Essex, but he clearly didn’t have a leg to stand on and she decided to disempower him, by redirecting all his post, to her offices. I should have realised not to touch her with a barge pole, after that and I should also have read the reviews. I chose her from a list of 62 Court of Protection appointed Deputies, handed down to me and my siblings, by the Judge. What is the point of having Judges and Court, if Samantha Hamilton cannot carry out Court Orders in a reasonable, timely fashion?
