I have tried many music online lessons and Musical U is the best I have encounter so far. They not only teach music but their philosophy behind the teaching is also very helpful. This is one of the few sites where they ask you to give your input and they actually read your answers. It feels good to know that someone is out there rooting for you. I have made leaps and bounds since I joined Musical U and I highly recommend them. There are many modules I can work with and they all tie in together. I am a better rounded musician since I joined Musical U and if you decide to join you will be as well.

Ordered a course two days ago, also upgraded to the monthly membership plan. I have Paypal receipts for both transactions but no emails from Musical U about accessing either the course I purchased or the monthly membership. I emailed support first thing yesterday but received nothing beyond an automated message. I tried messaging the Facebook this morning - message still hasn't been read. I have no idea whether the course is any good or not as I can't access it.

Bite-size chunks that you don't forget

For me, learning isn't the hard part - the retention over time is. Musical-U gives you bite size lessons, then recaps the lessons while learning something new, so you don't even realise. You really are building skills for life

Musical U offer a great series of well conceived and constructed courses to help you on your musical journey - but the stand out for me is the dedication of the support team plus the opportunity to belong to a great community.

Pre ordered a book. The promised email with bonses as advertised failed to arrive. Ignoring my emails and no one ever available to answer phone. Avoid.
After an immediate response to this review, the problem has been resolved.

It has taken me way longer than it should have to finish my latest season on Musical U. That's because I tend to be very busy in a whole range of areas, but the learnings to be had in Musical U are second to none. How I wish these resources had been around when I first started learning music 60 years ago. But onwards and upwards - there is so much to delve into - and in an accessible format. I have dabbled with improv for the first time ever. There is a whole universe to explore in that space, but got to start somewhere.

I came across MU during the pandemic. I have an honours humanities degree with creative writing and music as my majors, and the pandemic offered a good opportunity to do something serious about developing my music studies further. Like many of us during that period, I had a lot of time on my hands and a very reduced social life! MU did not disappoint: not only did it give me a range of incredible lessons to help me develop further musically, but also tremendous support and encouragement from the wonderful MU team. I could not engage much with MU in the earlier part of this year, but I am now back and as enthusiastic as ever. Thank you, MU!

Musical U has gifted me with invaluable advice on how to improve my practice. My cello playing has improved considerably in a relatively short timeframe. I feel more confident to perform and look forward to seeing how my musicality grows over the next few years.

I’m afraid they are a SCAM!!!
I tried to get a refund on their website but the steps to do this in their FAQ are incorrect.
I’ve called several times and all I ever reach is an answerphone - no-one calls back.
I’ve emailed - no reply.
Don’t know what to do next?

When I first opened up the site I was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of information and had no idea where to start, but once I got over those teething troubles, I've found the information to be very good. I really wish I had found this site earlier (ideally in lockdown when I'd have had more time). The music theory in particular has been explained in a way that made sense to me.

Scam! You can't cancel your subscription! Only musical u can cancel your subscription on their end. They don't reply to emails!

I recently joined Musical-U because I wanted to expand my musical skills a bit. Honestly, I was blown away by the amount of information on their membership site, their professionalism, their kindness, their ongoing support and so much more. I felt welcomed from Day 1 and can't wait to log in every day and continue my learning. There is a community, too; some are a little shy, others are open and very friendly - just like in the real world. Don't hesitate to join, no matter what level your musicality is at, there is always something to learn and challenge yourself with. I wish all schools taught music the way these guys do! Musical-U truly is great value in all ways and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

A really performing platform offering all that is expected to develop one’s musicality, musical skills, learning techniques, in a very global, serious way but so fun and enjoyable, and with the questions, experience and support of a community sharing the same doubts and dreams. A wonderful learning platform that works for newbies like me, as well as lifetime musicians - at least those are the comments everyone is sharing. My experience is guided by helpful team members who encourage and support my musical journey.

MU is an excellent platform for musicians, be they beginners, amateurs or professionals. I have been with MU for over three years now and never fail to learn new things in many aspects of music every day. I have always loved music and play several musical instruments. I can honestly say that all the courses have greatly helped me and I wouldn't be without MU.

On 16 May I paid £27 for a 30 day Superlearning course. I was told to expect a confirmatory email and invoice within 5-10 minutes. This did not come so I contacted the appropriate email address. Still nothing. Very suspicious of these people now.

Like the name implies, Musical U teaches you musicality, meaning all of those skills that truly make you a great musician.

You will learn all the essential skills and concepts like ear training, rhythm, pitch recognizition, solfa, pentatonic scale etc. But there's more to it than just enhancing your skills.

The teachers show you how to cultivate a growth-oriented mindset so you keep on learning and practicing. They encourage you to be creative and improvise. Their extensive ear training truly opens up your ears to hear music from multiple points of view.

I now approach my daily practice time with a fresh mental framework. I hear music differently than before. I can understand and analyze songs in so many levels. I know exactly which skills to keep developing and have grown the confidence needed to keep pursuing my goals in music.

I think the "secret" of Musical U is not in what they teach you but HOW they teach it. The team behind Musical U have clearly put a lot of effort into ensuring the material and exercises are constructed and presented in a way that is easy to grasp. The exercises really help you internalize the skill at hand, so you can immediately put it to good use in your music making.
If you run into any trouble or just don't know what to do next, there's multiple ways to contact the team and they will quickly help you get back on track.

Musical U has been the most impactful aspect of music education I have experienced over a lifetime as a pianist and choral singer. Despite skilled piano teachers and choral directors, I felt my musical knowledge was scattered and hard to pin down - I was looking for foundational musical glue.
Musical U provides live and archived resources to fill any personal gaps I wish to fill. I have enjoyed the program and its community so much I have no intention of graduating...there is always something to learn.

As classically trained, I was unaware of what creative potential I might have. My introductions to songwriting and melody writing have been joyful.

From my experience of over 3 years, multiple superlatives go to the Musical U Team members who lead this enterprise. It is they who created the content and the environment in which our community thrives and in which we have the opportunity to express our individual musicianship and - MU's favorite word - musicality.

I was looking for an ear training program and happened to find Musica-U. I joined it and found that it has much more than ear training. It offers all-round training in musicality. It has a lot of resources and an amazing number of contents. The training programs are very well structured. The staff are diligent, and they are creating an encouraging and supportive environment. I am impressed. I have been with Musical-U for about 3 months so far, and I noticed improvement with interval recognitions which I have been working on with Musical-U. The accuracy and speed of recognition increased. I am looking forward to doing more things beyond ear training with Musica-U!
