Just finished my first trip as a solo traveller with Naturetrek. Can't rate my experience highly enough. If you want to experience wildlife close up with experienced and friendly guides this is a perfect place to start. Small groups, lovely people and amazing places. I've seen humpback whales breaching right next to the boat, ridden horses ro the top of mountains to see the Monarch butterflies overwintering in their tens of thousands, and wandered down hillsides and valleys rich in birds and butterflies. The finale was an evening boat ride through the mangroves. What a thrill!

Brilliant 2 weeks touring the Galápagos National Park. Saw some amazing wildlife, stunning scenery and enjoyed the company of our 14 strong group.
A key factor was also our guide Darwin who had a vast depth of knowledge and enthusiasm about the islands, the seas around them and their wildlife. Darwin planned our days expertly taking into account the groups interests and ensuring that we rarely met other groups of visitors.

The holiday was well organised. The itinerary was mixed. We had a superb guide. The Gambian staff were excellent - very helpful. The hotel was good, the food was excellent and our room was comfortable.

An excellent birdwatching holiday over Christmas in Gran Canaria, this tour was exceptionally well organised. As a regular traveller with Naturetrek, I’m used to a high level of satisfaction, but a cancelled return flight (BA) threw a spanner in the works! A distressing end to the holiday was eased, however, by our guides who went far beyond their role to sort out our flights and accommodation.

Wife and I spent Christmas on a birdwatching trip to the Camargue area in the south of France. Everything worked, as we have come to expect from Naturetrek: all the arrangements, our excellent friendly and very knowledgeable guides, the accommodation and food. Whilst we learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed the birdwatching, this was a relaxed and easy-going break, not a hard-core, "must see every bird at all costs" type of holiday. I'm an overweight 70-year old and did not find the walking too strenuous, just very enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend this company for both day trips and holiday.

Excellent trip very well lead by our two guides who tirelessly worked to ensure we all saw the sightings.
Any minor issues with logistic were also dealt with promptly.

Quality of accomodation, food and guides was second to none.

Just returned from a trip to Ecuador and the galapagos. The main part of the holiday was a visit to the galapagos, spending 2 weeks and the beluga yacht. What an experience. The yacht and crew were brilliant, especially our guide Juan, whose energy and enthusiasm knew no bounds. We were able to visit most of the islands allowed and the wildlife was fantastic.

Before and after visiting the galapagos, we went birding at Mindo and looked and found not only condor but spectacle bears in Antisana.

This was a trip of a lifetime and I will definitely be using Naturetrek again for future holidays.

We went with Naturetrek to Bhutan, Assam and the Sunderbans and had a fantastic time.
The main and local guides were all extremely attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable.
Loads of excellent birds (around 300 spp) and mammals (28 spp) including incredible views of Bengal Tiger swimming (twice) across a wide channel. Throw in numerous Laughing Thrushes, Ibisbills, Scarlet Minivets, Gibbons, Rhinos, Gaur and Water Buffalo and you've got a wonderful trip.
The group (11) got on really well - the accommodation was good and food far better than anticipated - wonderful Bhutanese/Indian food on offer.
It's not a cheap trip due to the Bhutan tourist tax but most definitely worth it!

A stunning trip to a mesmerising, colourful and chaotic country. Organisation excellent, guides superb, accommodation very good and wildlife absolutely top notch. Several tigers seen plus numerous other mammals and nearly 200 species of bird. Plus crocodile, monitor lizard, snake and for me, some spiders that were just too big. Food was good, accommodation mostly spotless and the guides were attentive, knowledgeable and everything done with a smile. Would highly recommend. No better experience than seeing a beautiful tiger in the wild. More to the point, looking at a tiger as it is looking straight back at you. Trip of a lifetime. 😎👍

This trip fulfilled all my expectations. The service of the office team at booking and in dealing with a few queries was prompt, friendly and efficient. The accommodation and food was good to excellent. What made this tour outstanding was the guide. Our guide was highly professional, a local naturalist with excellent English and a profound knowledge of the reserves, habitats and wildlife. His ability to spot and identify birds, even from their call whilst driving the minibus, was outstanding. He was hardworking and always enthusiastic and dedicated to the success of the trip. I am looking forward to my next trip with Naturetrek and will be booking more.

Just back from a Naturetrek trip to Ecuador, the trip was excellent. A superb local guide and great accommodation in a country with fascinating wildlife. The tour covered various habitats meaning lots of different birds. We were also treated to mammal sightings including spectacled bear and a close encounter with a Three Toed Sloth from a tree canopy ! Naturetrek also organised for us to have 3 days pre tour in Quito which was very worthwhile for the history etc.
Already booked our next trip with them!

This was our first bird watching ever holiday and we are so pleased to have done it with Naturetrek. Our holiday was Ecuador, Galapagos and Sacha Lodge all over three weeks. From start to finish, we were on a trip of a lifetime. When we arrived in Quito, we were taken to tour around beautiful catholic churches and learn about the amazing history of each one. We also visited the Botanical Gardens which was a delight.
The next day we were collected by our super Transfer company to the airport and they basically gave us a VVIP send off to the Galapagos. We were welcomed by our brilliant guide Jose and then embarked on the cruise ship Cachalote Explorer to sail around the Western Isles for the week and Eastern Isles over the second week. The magnitude of sea wildlife and birds, iguanas, sea turtles, whales, dolphins, more birds, sharks and the best of all seeing a community of albatross was sensational. The food and service on the boat was next to none. The crew could not have done anything more.
We then visited Sacha Lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest travelling by boat along the Napo River. I felt like Pocahontas travelling along the river in a canoe..to look for caymans, monkeys, birds, mangroves and otters. It was funny to see an otter eating a piranha fish... yikes!
What I came away with was total respect of the people of Ecuador for keeping the country/wildlife and nature so well and respected. They have peace, pride and love for their surroundings. They need you to visit their beautiful country so that you can appreciate why it is so important to save the rainforest and more .. for the sake of our children's children!

My 'Borneo's Mammals' tour of Sabah with Naturetrek in October 2023 was an outstanding experience. We saw a rich variety of wildlife at both Deramakot Forest Reserve and Kinabatangan Wetlands. This was due in no small part to the efforts of our excellent guide, Henry Sapinggi, whose experience in the dense rainforest - especially while spotlighting at night – allowed us to locate numerous elusive nocturnal species, such as tarsier, slow loris, colugo and leopard cat. Though the emphasis was on mammals, the birding was outstanding, with specials such as Bornean bristlehead, red-bearded bee-eater and black-crowned pitta, while reptiles, amphibians and insects were prolific in number and variety. Tracking down wild orangutans (as opposed to the habituated individuals at rehabilitation centres) was a highlight, while other primates included grey gibbons and maroon langurs. Three days of boat trips on the Kinabatangan river provided a different perspective and more leisurely perspective on the forest, with additional wildlife including proboscis monkey, Storm's stork and estuarine crocodile. Accommodation was comfortable throughout, all the transfer and logistics worked seamlessly, and the small group size meant everybody was able to share in all sightings.

I travelled to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica with Naturetrek in January/February 2024 and truly enjoyed the trip of a lifetime. The wildlife was varied and superb, including eight species of penguin, six species of albatross and several hundred cetaceans of a whole host of species. The Naturetrek guides were friendly, extremely knowledgeable and attentive to all our needs, whilst the food, accommodation and on-board presentations were excellent. As an unexpected bonus, I got to see Cape Wild on Elephant Island, from where Shackleton sailed to South Georgia to arrange the rescue of his men. A brilliant trip with friendly, like-minded people. Unforgettable.

I joined the Naturetrek cruise around Svalbard (Spitsbergen - Realm of the Polar Bear) and had the most fantastic experience. The MS Quest, with only 45 fellow guests, was a perfect size to explore the fabulous scenery and arctic wildlife of this region. The crew were friendly and welcoming, attending to our every needs, and the food served on board was excellent. The onboard expedition leaders were terrific and complimented by our three Naturetrek naturalist leaders who left no stone unturned in providing us with multiple opportunities to experience some stunning wildlife. The highlights were too many to list but included four Polar Bears, a rare Bowhead Whale, a huge pod of Belugas, Walruses and various species of seal, Arctic Foxes, Ivory Gulls, Grey Phalaropes and vast seabird cities, all set against a magnificent backdrop of mountains, fjords, tundra, packice and indescribably beautiful glaciers. A perfect trip with so many unforgettable memories. Thanks to all at Naturetrek for organising it so well.

Antarctica - a trip of a lifetime. I went with Naturetrek in January on a three week long trip to the Falklands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsular and what a trip it was. From the initial enquiry, through the booking process and then the trip itself, Naturetrek did everything right. We were accompanied by four very experienced and knowledgable guides, the planning and organisation was first class and I can whole heartedly recommend Naturetrek to anyone thinking of going on any of their many and varied trips.

I joined Naturetrek on their Baja Whales trip. It exceeded expectations in every way. We didn’t just see dolphins, we watched super pods over a thousand dolphins playing around our boat.
We stroked young grey whales, swam with sea lions, watched hundreds of humpback whales breaching and tail flapping. On other days we sat on the back deck of the boat looking out for blue whales and albatrosses.
We visited deserted islands in the Sea of Cortez nature reserve with exotic plants and birds and had the chance to swim with Whale sharks.
The Naturetrek guides were charming and very knowledgeable, adding greatly to the experience.
The crew of the boat were great and the food excellent. Great trip.

Following on positive information, and finding that Naturetrek offers a trip close to my requirements. i have been trying to contact them and have a detailed conversation with one of their staff, to decide and, hopefully, book this trip. More than one week later, all i have is a brief email informing me that someone will contact me. A second message pointing out disappointment at not being contacted remains unanswered. This is rather discouraging. i am still interested given the numerous positive reviews, but certainly doubts about the reliability and seriousness of the company are increasing.

Update on 26 july. I have now had a long call with staff at Naturetrek and have booked the trip. There was a mistake with respect of the person who should have called me. I do hope that the experience of the trip allows me to write a new much more positive review later this year.

I have been on holiday with this company on many occasions including Tailormade ones. I have never had any complaints about their service or advice in their pre departure pack. They are upfront, honest and as I have a slight disability advise me whether they think the holiday is suitable for me, unlike some companies who would sell you anything so that they can make a profit. I have personally met most of the staff and have no bad feelings about being told that they don’t think the holiday is viable for me. As far as the one criticism on this sight is concerned all their foreign guides have been superb to the point of arranging for me to be wheelchaired around the Iguazu falls as my legs were not good this was by far in excess of what anyone would expect. I cannot praise this company highly enough for care and attention to detail. Accommodation is always clean and sometimes fairly basic but then considering that it is wildlife orientated one expects that.
