I have recently applied for a loan to purchase a new car. Everything was simple to understand and I was kept informed of next steps, time scale expectations etc!

Was guided all the way through application by Natalie who was very helpful as I’m not very computer savvy but she was very helpful

Applied for a debt consolidation loan and some of the parts I had slightly missed or wasn’t sure where to find and the staff helped me out with this, friendly and professional, honestly recommend.

After getting into difficulties I applied for consolidation loan with NHS Credit union. I do appreciate with the help from staff who help me from start to finish. Once again thank you very much.

Excellent service and absolutely helpful

Very easy and efficient to deal with. Understood what I was looking for and was arranged very quickly.

I’ve had two successful loans with NHS Credit Union, so I can’t say they haven’t come through for me — they absolutely have, and I’m grateful for that.

The ability to complete everything through the app is convenient in principle. However, the process itself can feel quite soul-destroying at times. Some of the communication feels very transactional and lacking empathy — for example, messages like “If you don’t reply by X time, your application will be closed.” When you’re already in a financially vulnerable position, that tone can add unnecessary stress.

The NIVO app can also be frustrating. It doesn’t always clearly show what you’ve uploaded, which leaves you guessing whether documents have gone through successfully or not. That uncertainty just adds to the anxiety during the process.

The interest rates are also higher than I would expect from a credit union. For example, I’ve just taken a £25,000 debt consolidation loan and will be paying around £13,000 in interest at 18%. That feels steep, particularly given the ethos credit unions promote.

That said, the system does work, and they have approved me twice when I needed support. At times, though, it has felt like I didn’t really have another option

Easy and straight forward process from begin to end, very person centred to individual situations which makes a very positive review. Very helpful and I have now solved all of my debts with a debt consolidation loan
