Misleading promotion and poor resolution

I placed an order based on a promotion that clearly included a free gift. After completing the purchase, the gift was automatically removed from my order because it was allegedly out of stock. I was not informed about this at the time of purchase, nor did I receive any proper notification afterward due to a “technical issue.”

In other words: the website advertised a gift, I made the purchase decision based on that offer, and only later was the gift quietly removed.

The explanation I received was that Notino operates in 27 European countries and shares warehouse stock across markets, so online availability may not reflect reality. That is not a customer’s responsibility. If stock is unavailable, the promotion should not be displayed — or at the very least, customers should be clearly informed before payment is completed.

The proposed solution was a €5 voucher for a future purchase (valid for 3 months), essentially asking me to shop again to compensate for their own system failure. Alternatively, I was told I could return the products.

This is not a customer-centric approach. It shifts the consequences of internal stock and system management problems onto the buyer.

Promotions should be transparent and reliable. If a company cannot guarantee advertised campaign items, they should not market them as part of the offer.

Very disappointing experience.
