Beware of Open Referral
10/28/2026 Update - Since posting my original review, Open Referral offered to review my refund request if I would consider updating my rating. More than two weeks later, there has been no resolutionâjust repeated responses saying, âWeâre reviewing.â
They also asked when I would be available for a phone call. I provided multiple time windows, but no one called. The continued delays and lack of follow-through have only made an already frustrating experience worse.
They also will never answer the phone, you get an automated message each time you call stating the exact same thing "Hey, I just missed your call." Stay away from this place!
I purchased Open Referralâs highest-tier package based on specific promises made by their sales representative in writing. Unfortunately, our actual experience has been nowhere close to what was represented.
The sales email specifically promised:
⢠5â6 live transfers per month
⢠7 hours/week of Virtual Assistant support for the first 6 months
⢠Priority call, text & email support
⢠3-Step Verified Prospects â AI + Human + Live Connection
⢠Full Marketing Toolkit + Templates + Premium SEO
⢠Showcase 5 listings on their website
⢠SEO-optimized premium Realtor profile
⢠Monthly Profile Scorecard
⢠5 High-Revenue Ads per quarter
⢠Closing Guarantee within 90 Days
⢠Lead Strategy Planning
We were also sold a package that included 60 vetted, ready-to-engage referrals through December 2026, represented as exclusive referralsânot recycled or shared leads.
We started in April 2026.
Since then, we have received fewer than 10 referrals TOTAL.
Even more concerning, we have received ONE live/warm transfer since Aprilâdespite the sales representative putting 5â6 live transfers per month in writing.
And it isn't just the lead volume.
We have not received the promised monthly Profile Scorecard, and I have not seen any of the 5 high-revenue ads per quarter that were part of the package. There are also multiple other services included in the sales proposal that have not been clearly demonstrated or delivered to us.
The package also included a Closing Guarantee within 90 Days. When we raised the issue of the guarantee and requested a refund, the company refused. Their position is particularly frustrating because the agreement does not clearly define whether the 90 days means calendar days or business days.
Here are the documented numbers:
PROMISED: 5â6 live transfers EVERY MONTH
RECEIVED: 1 live transfer since April
PROMISED: 60 vetted referrals through December 2026
RECEIVED: Fewer than 10 referrals since April
PROMISED: Monthly Profile Scorecard
RECEIVED: None
PROMISED: 5 high-revenue ads per quarter
RECEIVED: I have not seen any
PROMISED: Closing Guarantee within 90 days
RESULT: No closing and refund now being refused
The issue isn't that every lead has to close. Real estate leads don't work that way, and I understand that. The issue is paying for a specific level of service and then receiving a fraction of what was represented.
When a company uses specific numbers, deliverables, and guarantees as part of its sales pitch, customers should reasonably expect those commitments to mean something.
I have retained the original sales correspondence documenting these representations and will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding our experience.
If you are a real estate professional considering Open Referral, I strongly recommend looking for other viable options as this company does not deliver what they state they do.
Our experience has been that the service delivered has not remotely matched the service we were sold, and the company is now refusing to stand behind the guarantee used to sell us the package.
