Brilliantly incompetent. OMG if I ever have to deal with these people again I will walk straight into the ocean. The hold music is the theme track to my nightmares. NO I AM NOT "REST ASSURED" EVERYTHING IS TAKEN CARE OF. Three weeks to cancel a crack ass phone I didn't want. Only using them because I am forced to. On the day I can get back on ATT I will drink a bottle of champagne and cry tears of joy.

Awful! nobody knows what they are doing in this company!!! If you need help with anything prepare yourself at 1 to 3 hours on the phone getting transferred over and over to somebody new that has no idea what they are doing. I own a motel and spend 7 hours on the phone this month simply trying to get a new box its crazy!!!!!!!!!!!! Do yourself a favor and pick any company besides optimum, they are a joke and a waste of your time and money

It's really a pity that TrustPilot does not allow for negative -10 to 0 to +5 reviews, because some companies really only deserve way negative reviews!
OPTIMUM, a company owned by German ALTICE (they acquired SuddenLink --- which I nicknamed SuddenlNOlink back in the day!,) has to be one of the worst and biggest scam internet providers around!
For the life of me, I cannot understand how they are even allowed to do business in the USA! They keep randomly increasing prices for the same LOUSY service (or lack of service!,) and no one seems to be able to stop them. Over the last couple of years my bill increased by more than $40! Why? For what? Speed is lousy, connectivity is still a hit and miss, often with no signal, lines down, modem needing to be restarted EVERY SINGLE DAY!, or there's no signal, etc.
But guess what: the prices keep going up! Just got my monthly bill, and there's no stopping these crooks from scamming people! I guess now we are charged extra for bad service!
No wonder their overall rating on TrustPilot is barely above 1 star! I'm sure if people were able to give them negative stars, they would be at the bottom of the hell pit they throw their clients in! Unfortunately, where I live, (Elkins, WV) there is no alternative, as OPTIMUM is the only company servicing this area... but boy!, would I run from them like from the plague if I could!!!
If you have alternatives, do NOT sign up with OPTIMUM! Chose someone else!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Service is useless and so is their customer support. I am currently on the phone trying to cancel a service I never got working. Currently beign held hostage for over 30 minutes and on my 3rd rep - JUST TO CANCEL! NO STARS! Highly do NOT recommend!
UPDATE: CSR told me after an hour on the phone that her computer was down. I am sure that this was just part of the abuse they make thier customer go through to cancel. She would NOT cancel! Would not give me a code. I was being switched from rep to rep to cancel because each one wanted to offer me new stuff to stay! ABSOLUTELY NOT!
I cannot create an an account. Everything I try gets kicked back. I know they are going to bill me and pull from my account. This place needs to be investigated. I have never in my life experienced such abuse of my time and energy just to cancel. I never got the product working and was given a lecture about how if I am inept I should have asked someone to set up for me. I have been setting up routers and in the tech biz for over 25 years. This is a circus. Someone investigate this fraud!!! If I get billed I will sue!

Had a terrible experience with the customer service. Hardly spoke English and couldn't understand them. Then when I did purchase the internet. Was told it would be hooked up the next day and paid the deposit. Got a text on the day it was supposed to be hooked up and said it wouldn't be till the following week. Called and asked why , got the run around then said it was denied for that day. I canceled the order and was disrespected and talked to rudely. Then told me it would be 3 weeks before I would get my money back. They are rude, unprofessional. Would not recommend them to anyone.

The worst experience I have ever had with a phone company. My mother signed up for an Optimum package w cell phone, cable & Internet. Unfortunately, the phone service barely worked. You literally had to walk around holding the phone in the air just to try and get a signal.
When my mother decided she wanted to go back to Verizon, the nightmare really began. Optimum customer service was beyond frustrating. They would not help us properly transfer the phone number they had given her, even though they originally told us it could be transferred. We spent THREE days trying to get this resolved.
We were constantly told emails were being sent that never arrived, text messages came with the wrong codes, and every phone call led nowhere. It felt like they stalled the process and made it impossible to leave their service. They keep you on hold forever hoping u will give up. They try to bribe you to stay.
In the end, my mother had to give up and get an entirely new phone number with Verizon because Optimum made the transfer process such a disaster. My mom just kept the phone with optimum and has a new one with Verizon. REALLY unnecessary !!!!
I would absolutely not recommend this phone service. Be very careful about believing the promises made when signing up.

As an Optimum internet client for 26 years, I regret ever starting its service. All my email and business contacts are embedded in the service which always has outages, simple functions to delete emails does not function, just as their servers are not capable to deliver service at scale. NASA has satellites in space that communicate reliably, consistently, and for decades: not Optimum. Instead of having core Internet services properly operating, they keep jumping ahead with new services advertised at great pricing to attract new customers. Optimum is a zero sum game, never sign on, never believe the hype as their servers and personnel do not belong in business. Not only are their services the worst, but also they revert to customer service arguing with frustrated customers.

The internet service is a joke. Our internet goes out at least 3 days a month.
We are working on our 6th day this month.
Couldnt get a tech out for 5 days last month. Had appointment set for today....well optimum canceled it so now we have to wait another 5 days for a tech. No customer service, just automated circles. When you do finally get thru to customer service they want to argue with you or "conveneintly disconnect" the call.
So yea, after this ordeal we now switching internet providers. Worst experience ever. Please please do not purchase this provider. You will regret it and most likely lose your sanity.

An Optimum salesman came to my house and lied straight to my face. He went by the name "PaPa," but given how he behaved, he probably lied about his name too. He told me I could get four cable boxes and internet for under $130 total. He pressured me to start service right away and install everything – all four TVs with cable boxes.
When I finally got my bill, it was $220 not under $130 like he promised. That's almost $100 more than what he told me.
When I called Optimum Customer Service after installation, they told me straight up that the price the salesman promised was not true and they could not honor it. I tried calling and texting "PaPa" to get him to fix what he promised. He told me he would call me back – and then he never did. He ignored my texts, ignored my calls, and never called me back. He completely ghosted me after lying to my face in my own home.
Optimum as a company should be ashamed. They sent a dishonest salesman to my door who lied about pricing, told me to install everything anyway, and then ignored me when the truth came out. And when I reached out to Optimum for help, they did nothing to make it right.
I have lost all trust in Optimum. Do not believe anything their door-to-door salespeople tell you – and don't expect the company to back it up either.

Optimum was Awful they were horrible to communicate with. Our router wasn't working and they tried to walk me through a 2 hour list of things I had already tried and tried to blame me before sending someone out and then trying to charge me for the representative that they sent out. If there are any other internet service providers in your area I highly recommend that you go with them not with Optimum. Optimum is one of the rings of hell.

The worst internet service provider. The level of bullshit they come up with is astonishing. Their service is the worst and they lure you into getting their service. The promotional price they give you is a bunch of lies. I ended up paying double the amount I was paying with Verizon in 2 months. Never again!! If you are a business owner STAY AWAY FROM OPTIMUM!! Impossible to connect to a human being via phone (20 min for call back- which is a nice feature to choose so you're not on hold the entire time) or live chat without logging into an account - even though I have the latest bill/account number in front of me. I was just trying to gather information for them, not make ANY changes to their account or discuss billing, just gather information at this point. I wanted to speak to a retention specialist regarding the fact my aunt and uncle are paying over $400 a month in New York. They have been loyal, long-term customers. They happen to be senior citizens, retired, on a fixed income. Outrageous prices and fees. Highway robbery especially for people over the age of 65. Unacceptable.

If I could give Optimum Mobile zero stars, I would. Switching to this service has been one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made. They lure you in with "affordable" bundles, but you quickly realize you’re paying for a service that barely functions.
The "Service":
I’m consistently met with dropped calls and data speeds that feel like they belong in 2005. I’ve had better connectivity in the middle of the woods than I do in the heart of the city with "5G." Half the time, my texts don't even send, leaving people wondering why I'm not responding.
The Billing Trap:
The transparency is non-existent. My bill has fluctuated with "hidden fees" and "activation charges" that were never mentioned upfront. Linking your mobile account with your home internet for the promised discount is a bureaucratic nightmare that their own staff can’t seem to figure out.
Customer "Support":
Calling their support line is like stepping into quicksand. You’re passed from one outsourced agent to another, none of whom have the authority to actually fix a problem. They are trained in "retention scripts" rather than actual technical support. I spent hours on hold just to get a port-out PIN that they purposely make difficult to find.
Verdict:
Do not fall for the promotional pricing. You will pay for it in stress, lost time, and a phone that is essentially a paperweight whenever you leave your home Wi-Fi. Go to a provider that actually values its customers and understands how a cellular network is supposed to work.

BEWARE!! Getting in was easy getting out it next to impossible. They will put you on hold and transfer you multiple times. One hand does not know what the other is doing and they charge you a full bill no matter when you terminate and then change a disconnect fee. They are very hard to understand it is Horrible!!

*Service was at best intermittent.
*Spend literally 30 min to HOUR on the phone explaining to incompetent "service techs" that the problem was not with internal modem / router.
*NEVER would be a service technician "in the area", frankly I know your ex-service techs and they all quit your company because of apparent lack of business ethics optimum had with them and their clients.
*Upon finally getting fed up enough to disconnect optimum service, then I had to FIGHT my way through at least half a dozen other optimum reps, who's main goal in life was to try and talk me out of disconnecting service by offering me anything I wanted, who all were told I would NOT stay with your service even for FREE.
*I finally fought my way through the last of the "optimum warriors" and passed onto whomever… it was negotiated that I did NOT have to pay for a FINAL month of service because my cancelation was on the FIRST day of a billing cycle and because to make up "for all the hassle" and to make retribution for over 80% of the time I was with optimum I had NO SERVICE.
*Apparently this last person was doing NOTHING to notate any of that conversation and was bold face LYING to me about what she was capable of offering.
*20+ days later I start to get text messages, emails and phone calls from optimum THREATENING to turn my "delinquent" account over to a collection agency!!??
*Of course, as previously said, NO ONE in the company could find ANY record of ANY phone calls that I had been "dissatisfied" with ANY service I ever had with optimum.
*Optimum, I am glad you guys sent this survey and I hope you read it, because I'm about to post it all over the web, google, yahoo, on your site, the BBB…. ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE I can to get the word out about the SHADDY, UNETHICAL, LYING THIEVES that the company optimum is.

Good evening! I am David Lee Harris from West Virginia and I am living in Brazil now. I have problems with my cellphone here in Brazil where I am living since March 2026. I went to Optimum mobile service where I bought it and paid it off and I got an email that the payment was done. Unfortunately the telephone company didn’t unlock my phone and I cannot use it here in Brazil at all. I have contacted Optimum mobile service for many times and the problem was not solved. I have had enough with the lying and the bullshit! First off, do not write back saying "We are so sorry you are experiencing this," Because it is a lie. These people are immigrants who should not be allowed to work in such an environment because they do not know what they are doing. This crap goes on and on and on, and they lie. They fix it for a day or so, then it's right back in the same condition, no internet, the same thing over and over.
This whole corporation is crooked because they don’t care. I run a YouTube channel. I have lost subscribers because I can't go live or I cannot upload a video as promised to my viewers and subscribers.
I will file a lawsuit and report them to the FCC, and they will pay me back for the loss. They are making you pay their price for something that does not work and leave you in the dirt because they don’t care. They do need to be shut down, and if enough people come forward can make that happen. I will be posting all this all over social media, and I will get this spread.
You're going down Optimum Internet! People have had enough of your crap and lies, and high prices for services that don’t work!! Stop paying your bill with Optimum, it is not worth any of the price. A petition will be started to shut them down ASAP.
This has been happening for several years and keeps getting worse.
