Terrible service. Made us come home from our travels as our insurance would not be valid anymore if we had stayed out in Asia. So we booked to come home, meaning cutting our trip short. Only to be then told that because we took our flight they wouldnât give us the money back for it.
On top of that we have only had half a year of insurance given to us as we had to come home as if we go anywhere it would be void. Yet they will not give back money because they are not insuring.
Such a bad company that only care about themselves. Not really sure what the point of getting insurance is if they are not going to help.
They do not read the concerns over email properly they think they have done you some sort of favour when complaining then when I didnt give up sent it off to their complaints department which take forever to then come back with the same crap response.
Do not use pay a little more for a much better company

Paid around £400 for a service we didn't get. Refusing to pay out for cancelled flights, as we were offered credit which we will never have the opportunity to use. Paid for 8 months insurance and used 2 as we had to return home. I pay an annual travel insurance company £28 that would have covered this trip. Out-backers are refusing to do anything about this however. Absolutely gutted we've spent so much money on a service we didn't recieve.
Avoid at all costs, customer service is poor too, do alot of talking and not much listening.
Awful insurance. They will not give you money back for cancelled flights and say that a credit voucher is enough, despite being previously told that actually I could refuse a travel voucher and get money off my insurance. They will also take your money for insurance cover for 8 months and refuse to offer any money back when you only use 2 months of the cover AND they wonât even let you claim. They are making money and offering no service to their customers. Terrible service and a complete joke.

Slow service, and they're trying to avoid paying me because of something that wasn't written in the policy; that because I'd been offered a voucher it wasn't a irrevocable loss. That wasn't defined in the policy, and I know, because I read all the definitions. They've even accepted it wasn't in the policy doc.
What's the point in a fifty page document which defines everything if you're just going to ignore it? Why make somebody wait for over two months if you're going to just try and ignore the contracts?
I purchased 18 months premium travel insurance, the most expensive one they had as i didn't want to take any chances and thought if something happened there would be good customer care... how wrong I was.
I lost my phone around 12 months in, followed all the process of police report etc and sent it away. After weeks of numerous emails and not getting anywhere I was told that outbacker had changed the insurance company since I took out my policy so i needed to contact the old insurer. Outbacker did not inform me of this ever and it did not mention anywhere during the claims process that I needed to contact an old insurer.
Once i got in touch with the insurer called TCF, it has been nothing but dismal. I have a string of emails dating back over 3 months and still no conclusion. They take over 10-15 working days per reply for most things. I finally felt like I was getting somewhere the other day, sent them everything they needed (for the 4th time) and they replied asking that i send them my address and policy details because they could not identify me. I sent them this with the first email. and every subsequent email including my initial claim.
Stay away everyone, don't waste your money. They might say they cover more than most but lets be honest, that's only a good thing if they actually do cover more than most. I'm at the stage that i feel like they are a complete scam (i know they are genuine but their incompetence and delay at replying definitely make it feel that way).
Much better off just taking out cheap cover and accepting that if you lose your phone its probably not worth claiming. I spent more on the policy than the phone is worth so i'd of been better off anyway...

Excellent customer service and an easy to use website that makes every simple and clear.
Donât usually write reviews however brilliant service with outbacker. Unfortunately had a medical claim of £400 which was dealt with efficiently and within 10 days of documents arriving was paid into my account.
Just note extension is very expensive to extend on a £239 policy covering 5 months for one month extension i was quoted £124 so make sure to account for full length of trip.
Will be using again!
Terrible experience, utterly abandoned by my insurer and given no support. Tried to make a complaint and you get passed from sister to company to another like a piece of unwanted trash. DO NOT TRUST OUTBACKER. DO NOT PAY FOR AN EXPENSIVE PIECE OF PAPER!!!

I found the layout of the website far easier to understand than other insurance companies I looked out. Overall, the whole process was very simple and quick. However, since my flight was cancelled on Saturday it has proved very difficult to now cancel my insurance. I understand the high quantity of call and email but surely it should not be so hard to cancel before my policy starts. Regardless, the overall quality - assuming I am eventually allowed to cancel - was good.
