Unfortunately I have no choice but to have this provider as part of my son education. 4 times I have contacted them to sort out his budget which should have been addressed with no contact at all. Assurances every time over a week 4 phone calls and still ghosted.
Worst company ever!
Worst company ever! Every month they make mistakes with the time sheets. Bad attitude and bad customer service.
Role of English Teacher for HMP
People Plus reject have, once again, rejected an application I have made for a role that I have previously done very successfully. I received a bog-standard rejection letter citing too many applications received and my not meeting the criterion. I cannot comment on the former but, as for the latter, I have taught that role for years at many levels, but it seems that People Plus may have a preference regarding the type of candidate and as an ethnic female I cannot meet the type of candidate they seek (People Plus) seek. I won't be wasting any more of my time applying for any roles advertised by People Plus.
Shocking organisation after first…
Shocking organisation after first appointment advisor decided to quit this happened with my next 6 advisors I think this happened after they realised they had been misled by the wonderfull jobcentre they applied for jobs on my behalf until I told them not to unprofessional jobsworthsa really bad company that tries to enforce job centre policy total scumbags,
Discriminatory practices, payroll mismanagement, and toxic workplace culture
My experience with PeoplePlus was deeply negative and ultimately forced me to leave my role, with hundreds of redundancies made due to the role no longer being needed.
- Payroll & Benefits Mismanagement: Medicash deductions were unclear and poorly communicated. Payments appeared on payslips without explanation of whether they covered the past or upcoming month, leaving me financially disadvantaged and uncertain about my healthcare cover. Payroll errors and disputes persisted even after redundancy, with inadequate responses to repeated escalation.
- Workplace Culture: The environment was toxic, hostile, and dismissive of staff wellbeing. Safeguarding best practice was not prioritised, despite statutory obligations. Favouritism toward certain staff members was evident, creating inequality and undermining fairness.
- Disability Discrimination: Both PeoplePlus and its third‑party providers discriminated against my disability. They explicitly claimed that dyslexia is not covered under the Equality Act 2010 — a statement that is factually and legally incorrect. This denial of rights resulted in a failure to provide reasonable adjustments and contributed to a hostile environment.
- Workload Escalation: My workload was increased by approximately 20% every 6–12 months with consultation and sharing high level of stress. No reasonable adjustments were offered, and the cumulative effect left me unable to manage the stress. This amounted to constructive dismissal, as I felt forced out of my position.
- Wellbeing Failures: A £20 wellbeing budget was inconsistently applied, with no clear or fair process for staff access. When stress levels were graded as high, there was a lack of meaningful support or intervention, leaving employees vulnerable and disregarded.
- Unequal Pay & Qualifications: I was paid £31,000,
while a shared tutor in a comparable role was paid £35,500 — despite not holding any teaching qualifications, only management training in a catering environment. This disparity was a kick in the teeth for those of us with teaching qualifications and experience, and it highlighted inconsistent and unfair pay structures that did not value professional expertise.
- Pension Contributions: Staff were only paid the minimum 3% pension contribution until passing probation, and even then, increases to 5% were only applied if requested. This practice was neither transparent nor supportive, leaving employees disadvantaged compared to fairer schemes elsewhere.
- Working Hours & Recognition: My contracted hours were cut when I was required to cover my own exams and those of others, with no allowance for lost administration time. At times I was covering both my own class and another simultaneously — effectively a double workload — yet I received no recognition or even a small gesture such as the £20 staff reward that other tutors were given. In 3.5 years, I received only one positive shoutout, while colleagues with less than a year of service received multiple. This lack of recognition was demoralising and highlighted systemic favouritism.
Impact:
These practices caused financial harm, damaged my wellbeing, and eroded trust in the organisation. I was left with unresolved disputes, forced into redundancy, and compelled to rebuild my career elsewhere.
Conclusion:
PeoplePlus urgently need to reform their payroll transparency, benefit administration, and workplace culture. They must recognise dyslexia and other conditions under the Equality Act 2010, provide reasonable adjustments, apply wellbeing resources consistently, ensure fair pay and pension structures, respect contracted hours, and value staff contributions equally. Until such changes are made, I cannot recommend them to anyone seeking fair, supportive, and lawful employment.
This company is fraudulent.
This company is fraudulent, they are taking direct payments/personal budgets from the LA and then not paying the PA/carer correctly. My Pa has been underpaid since April, I have made numerous complaints - every time promised they will resolve it by next payday, it never happens. they now owe my PA over £600 and are with holding it.
I dont know how they keep getting used by the LA. Im too sick to manage payroll myself and too sick to be chasing/complaining every month. They are making me more sick.
People Plus
Along with Triage, People Plus are yet another company who fall under the umbrella of Reed (who are supposed to be a recruitment company).
The good - when DWP/JCP first forced myself to register with this company I was awaiting surgery. The original Work Coach said that the company recognised that I was sick and that I wouldn't be pressurised to apply for vacancies. I undertook onsite training for - Self Awareness, Reboot your CV, Interview techniques, Confidence, Resilience. Online learning - Introduction to Basic First Aid, Introduction to Health and Safety at Work, Safeguarding and Customer Services. Not having a printer, I had to download and request printouts of certificates (requested twice - out of sight out of mind) for Introduction to Health and Safety at Work, Introduction to Basic First Aid and Safeguarding. Prior to a Careers Fair, I'd requested printouts of my CV - they were waiting for myself at the next appointment, the only time I didn't have to remind the Work Coach.
The bad - on my final appointment I pointed out that since my Fit for Work note expired in June, I had applied for 90 jobs, had 6 interviews - all of which I had sourced for myself, the 3rd and final of the Work Coaches that I had been allocated, answered that they weren't there to help me look for work. So, when is a Work Coach not a Work Coach, I was under the mistaken impression that they were supposed to suggest vacancies (maybe the recruitment company Reed had vacancies that their umbrella companies had first access to prior to the vacancies being advertised)? Safeguarding online training was in two parts and only the certificate for part one was available to download and forward to the "Work Coach", also the Customer Services certificate was unavailable to download and forward to the "Work Coach". So, I've done the training, but don't have the certificates to proof it. There is one part of the onsite training not completed, on my penultimate appointment, I asked the "Work Coach" and she promised to speak with the trainer the following day, when he was next in the office, with regards to this. On final appointment, I asked the "Work Coach" if she had spoken with the trainer (I was constantly having to remind her about things) and she said yet again, that he was due in the office the following day and that she would speak to him - so she would be speaking with him the day after I had left the programme, what was the point in that? I twice told the "Work Coach" that my black skirt no longer fitted. At 2.5 pages, my CV was too long and I therefore amended it, to narrow it down to two pages and asked the "Work Coach" on numerous occasions for feedback. I received a survey from DWP asking for feedback on Restart, I advised the "Work Coach" that I had a survey regarding the service and (at the time) had not decided on how to respond - forewarned is forearmed, she might just provide a "good customer service" - no, so I submitted a negative survey. Taxpayers are footing the bill for this "service".
The ugly (the lies, just a sample) - I have apparently failed to attend three appointments - news to myself! They were two occasions when I advised that I would be unable to keep my appointment. The first time, I was recovering from surgery and varying between a Zimmer frame and crutches. I had asked for a telephone appointment, knowing that I would not be able to attend the office (they were given 16 days notification - not exactly a last minute request), no phone call was received - that wasn't my fault, but their fault, on one occasion I had an accident and had to visit A&E. I phoned the "Work Coach" to advise that I was in A&E, after having suffered a fall, due to an uneven paving stone and would therefore be unable to keep my appointment (possibly a couple of hours in advance - not having a crystal ball, I didn't know how long I would be in A&E, so only fair to notify the "Work Coach", as it happened I was released 1.45 hours after the allocated Restart appointment). At some point, I'm supposed to have refused a Restart appointment as it clashed with a physio appointment - if that's true, why did they just not offer myself an appointment on a different day - wouldn't that have been common sense? Failed to attend, is when you don't notify in advance, that you won't be keeping an appointment. "Work Coach" claimed that she had offered assistance with regards to amending my CV. I pointed out that these were lies and still had to sign the statement (not the first time I'd signed a statement that I didn't agree with)! In other words, I had to agree to something that was false - which makes no sense at all.
So zero marks to both Reed's Triage and People Plus services.
No customer service or support
No customer service or support. My son has completed and passed an online exam with them and because I paid for the test they have sent the certificate in my name even though they were advised prior to the test of his full name. I have been attempting to call them and email fir over 2 weeks to get this amended with no replies. Awful service.
Really bad
I paid for a course with my dads card and they put that name on my certificate.
I wish i could give no star review…
I wish i could give no star review actually it would be minus 5 darlington peopleplus the worst ran organisation i have ever seen i was spoke to like i was dirt on their feet by masud the advisor didnt actually advise much really apart from how to belittle me avoid at all costs
Forcing me to travel far whereas local branch is nearby my house
Wish i could give zero star even before going for initital appointment. They have branch at my local town near by my house, and even then they forced me to go to far to other town which includes half an walk and then train travel and then walk. I dont get them what kind of help they going to privide if they not able to handle a very basic thing .this is a total harassment.
I would say don't go here even if it…
I would say don't go here even if it was referred by the job centre, they are absolutely not here to help and they are a business so they only want your time which they get paid for your attendance.
my honest review of Restart Sunderland
I am so glad that I've left this place. This place is a waste of time. They don't help you get a job. It just feels like you are going to a job centre and they just review you. 1 whole year with Sunderland, Restart. I had a work advisor called Dayna. She is the worst person i have ever seen. She lacks too much. Lies about everything. She says that she'll do something that is job related but it doesn't even happen and even lied to me that if you don't have a job by the time Restart ends, your UC money cuts you off which I know is not true as I asked my work coach about it. I am a young person who has been on UC since i was 18 and I'm trying my hardest to get a job as I miss working so much. The job centre referred me to Restart as they have had no choice. I know my job centre hates sending people to Restart and no they have not told me that. I honestly think that this place is a waste of time and I am sooo sorry for people who have to suffer this place. It will be all over soon. I do know when I was with them. They make appointments and I receive the email but they change the date or the time or both just so they can try their hardest to sanction me and they even call me out of the blue saying I didn't attend this or that which they organise things without you knowing. They even try and figure out on what jobs that they want you to do instead of it being the other way round. Some of the staff is nice but the rest is just a no. A horrible and disgusting place I've ever been. It's like going through a death trap. I honestly DONT recommend this place in general.
The staff are horrible and they lack…
The staff are horrible and they lack empathy and have no tolerance. One time i was 5 minutes late for appointment because I had to travel 50 minutes by bus to runcorn shopping city from Widnes dittion, and when i got there the horrible red faced women would not speak to me and put my name down on the none complaint list which got me sanctioned and i was unable to go the rest of my appointments that week because I had no money which ment i started racking up sanctions. Over all i was sanctioned for all most 2 years ( January 2016 to March 2018) which damaged me mentally and now i am on antidepressants.

The lack of safegaurding in this organisation is unbeleiveable.
I find it hard to believe that this organisation has been subcontracted out by Reed (and/or the government).
I requested a private room for my first meeting with them and my request was not fulfilled. So I had to explain my circumstances in front of everyone.
The people employed in this organisation are not interested in the well-being of the people they are trying to get back into work. They want credit for everything and anything. So they or the work coach look good to the performance manager. (CreditPlus would be a better name for this organisation.)
My work coach lied on a digital form saying he or People Plus was involved in putting me on a course, even though he had nothing do to with it and previously said, "he doesn't want me to be the most qualified unemployed...."
After months of being People Plus, I found out that they run an in-house 5-day Employee Ability Week, which advises on CV writing, interviews, job searching and more. I found out by accident and had to ask about it. I still don't know why I was not put on it from day one.
I am also missing out on opportunities offered by the Job Center because I'm with this poorly run organisation. I cannot wait to be free from them.
Another concern was when my work coach started suggesting work that would affect my mental or physical health.
I was fortunate enough to meet a former employee from People Plus. He confirmed all I was experiencing about PeoplePlus. That is, "they don't care about your well-being or circumstances," and "They only interested in gaining credit or scoring points. So they can get more funding."
This means they will say or do anything (coercing) to get you into any job. Regardless of your skills or previous work experience.
If I knew the type of service this organisation was going to provide, I would never have signed that paperwork, or given consent to use my name. Fortunately, I can withdraw my consent. Which I have requested verbally, but (similar to the room I requested) it has not been done.
If anyone has read this far and has signed a form giving consent to PeoplePlus to use your name to promote this organisation, I suggest you send an email telling them you are withdrawing consent for PeoplePlus to use your name.
DO NOT let People Plus use your name to promote themselves as a good service. They are not interested in you, your development or your well-being. Request via email to withdraw your consent from PeoplePlus to use your name for promotional purposes.
(Do not verbally request this. There needs to be a digital record of this. PeoplePlus lack integrity and cannot be trusted.)
Reply to PeoplePlus
If your trademark is 'Customer First' then who are PeoplePlus's customers? The organisation that contracted PeoplePlus or the people that are sent to PeoplePlus?
If it's the people who are sent/go to PeoplePlus, then why are not happy with the service that is stated at the bottom of PeoplePlus's website? Which is: -
"We are a leading education and employability business helping people to transform their lives and businesses through work, training, education and independent living.
We help people source and retain sustainable employment, whilst working with employers to develop work forces of the future."
And on the first day of attending PeoplePlus, I was asked for consent. Though no photos or quotes where given.

1 star minus 1 star
1 star minus 1 star. Terrible service, no consideration at all for people with health issues or people going through bereavement either. My poor aunt was working 7 days a week after she lost her husband, and they wanted her to find more hours even though she wasn't in the best health as it was. That amount of pressure caused so much stress she ended up having a stroke- almost died. And guess what they did still baggered her over the phone whilst she was in hospital. Me and my mum told them she was in hospital recovering and they still kept trying. Bunch of hired robots and no remorse or care in the world for peoples health. Discusting service. Do hope I never ever get put under them because I will not keep my mouth shut.

Should be a zero rating for this I poor excuse for an organisation. They never respond to emails or phone calls. They make you feel inadequate, I actually wanted a job and start to earn money again, they spoke to me like I was an idiot very condescending, for example I needed to budget to understand having a job is better as I would earn more money!!! I was like what, talk about stating the obvious, of course I know that. Not once did I say I didn’t want a job. All they are concerned about is having a cigarette break. I received zero help from them or the job centre to be honest, both useless. I secured jobs myself without their help. The staff have no people skills or able to think outside the box. It’s like they follow a script and they can’t divert from it. Can’t use their own initiative, that’s way too hard for them, I can’t imagine they have many positive outcomes. All I can say is avoid as much as you can!!!

Useless and bullies
What can I say...my son goes there and they promise the world on the phone. When you get there they drag out the training and cannot offer what they say at the centre in Pontypridd. I do not Disagree with anyone's review here like some as its peoples actual review and each centre is different. This one the Tutor is horrible and argumentative.
States I spoke over her because she was loosing an argument. I work in the Asbestos Industry and wanted to take my son onto construction sites on surveys I was completing. The tutor stated quite rudely that she would have to send someone out to inspect my company which is a nation wide UKAS accredited company. What a joke. He now goes somewhere local and they wont pay him for extra time worked or transfer the hours worked last week onto this week. Absolute bull.
They took months to get him onto his CSCS and cannot find him a position on a construction site. They are teaching him rubbish in the class every Wednesday. They asked him what should we change about the health service in the UK compared to other companies and they said he could be done for slander because he said stop the dole bums abusing the health service like drunks and addicts. What bullshit.
I could not recommend this place. I have applied to college for my son and hopefully they will do a lot more for him. Stay Clear of the Pontypridd office as they are useless.
The most truely shocking unprofessional…
The most truely shocking unprofessional company that I have ever had dealings with.
They need to have a major overhaul from top down.
Multiple meetings being cancelled with no notification along with major communication issues trying to reach them the list goes on. Steer Clear.
