I think the ISA fees are too expensive
I think the ISA fees are too expensive. The share offerings are not great IMO, no opportunity to invest in AIM listed shares or similar alternative investments.
Overall, if I was to spend a period of 3 years not contributing and only had a small amount invested I could end up being back at £0 after charges have been removed.
What happens if there is no money in the account, how do you bill customers?
Although itâs cool to have a S&S isa that allows exposure to individual shares without traditional dealing charges it overall doesnât suit me as Iâd prefer UK alternative investment options rather than just U.S individual share options.
Some of us are old fashioned and prefer giving our monies to UK firms if we can in some fashion.

Our ISA fees are one of the lowest around, with a subscription fee of just £1 month and a platform fee of 0.10%, we also don't charge a fee per individual trade like some companies do. We also offer a range of services with our ISA account such as fractional shares, instant deposits and roundups that other companies do not offer. Our ISA does deal with UK shares; it is through our Instant GIA that you can only invest in the US stock market at this time. We are adding new shares to our portfolio all the time, for example in May we dropped the absolute mother-load of top companies, available to trade instantly from just £10 on our instant GIA account. At Wombat, we only provide access to the stock market. We cannot control or predict stock performance. You are correct, if you did not contribute for a couple of years, you may end up with a balance of £0.00, this is the nature of investing; the stock market is all about ups and downs, sometimes there are up periods, sometimes there are down periods. Unfortunately, we have no control over this, and just provide access to the market. If there was no money in your account (no investments or cash balance) then your account would simply stay at £0.00. I would like to assure you that Wombat is a UK firm and by investing through Wombat you are supporting a small UK business.

I found setting up the app far easierâŠ
I found setting up the app far easier than I expected given most banking KYC nightmares.
Using the app is easy, especially since they hand you £20 of THEIR money, real money not test account fiction, to play with, and the fact the market tanked after I invested and I lost 25% of THEIR money shows what would have happenned had I put any of my own in !!
My only criticism is the limited range of places to invest using the GIA account they give you to start.
It's given me a definite appetite to look around at other similar apps and platforms.
But like the national lottery, I've made nothing out of my speculation yet

Our Instant GIA account only has US stocks on it at the moment. Our Product team are aware that UK stocks are in demand and are looking into what options we have to offer these. In the meantime, our Standard GIA does have more UK stocks available. You are able to hold both account types if you want to invest in more UK stocks.
The Instant GIA account is also a relatively new offering for us. We are always working on improving the experience and service so please do keep your eyes out for improvements coming soon!
