I spent £142 on TT 120 track and an engine. However being new to the hobby I hadn't understood and double checked the code of the track. Even though I'd searched TT 120 you'd think the offering would be compatible. No problem you can send them back for a return. Pretty standard you'd think but no, any which way either full refund or exchange they want to steel and it is robbery in the true sense, £3.95 to set up the return. There's not much good will with this firm. I'll be very reluctant to shop again.

Having reluctantly decided to dispose of my 00 gauge model rail, I contacted Rails of Sheffield to enquire if they were interested in purchasing items. The whole process is delightfully smooth, professional and efficient, from submitting an inventory to obtaining and accepting an offer. Each process is dealt with quickly, even payment which was same day I accepted their offer. The only real delay was the post office who let my packages sit in my local sorting office for a couple of days despite it being 24 hour postage. Completely outside Rails control.

I have just used Rails of Sheffield secondhand purchase system. Emailed videos and photo's of the loco's and stock I wished to move on. They made fair offer which I accepted, packed and posted, Rails covered the costs. The offer was confirmed upon receipt/inspection and monies paid same day.
The whole process took no more than 7 working days, faultless.

I have used Rails for purchases many times and been very pleased.
Now I have sold my entire collection to Rails and they were very efficient,trustworthy and fair

My husband died in June last year and I was left with the daunting task of selling his model railway collection. I contacted Rails of Sheffield and my email was answered by Ben, who said that yes, the company bought full collections, and to contact him when I was ready. I sent photos of the collection, Ben sent a very good offer, which I accepted. I packed the collection in boxes, Ben sent pre-paid labels and a link to sort out pick up with parcelforce. All very easy. Ben emailed to say that the boxes had been received, I supplied my bank account details and the money was transferred the next day. I'm very impressed with the service that I received and it made a huge task very easy.

I cannot fault the brilliant service I received when I used Rails of Sheffield to sell my surplus rail items.
I expected a load of hassle, but was completely wrong.
The whole procedure from advising them of the items to getting the money in my bank took only 5 days, and a fair price as well.

I used the online service to sell quite a lot of various model equipment & it was an easy process and the staff were really helpful along the way.

Sold some unwanted Locomotives to them absolute pleasure to deal with hasel free was quoted a decent price for them sent the items by post at there cost and was paid within a day of them receiving them

First experience of selling my excellent second hand trains through rails. I have previously purchased lots of stock through the shop and have always been impressed. Having recently had a poor time through eBay I decided to give them a go. What a master stroke! professional, efficient and fair in their pricing. Today I received my bank transfer effort free. Never using eBay again for locomotive selling! Thank you Rails. Top shop 5 star!

I had mainly engines and carriages from the Hornby range going back to 1960's gathering dust and rust not knowing where to pass them onto. I found this website which was easy to list, save and send to the company for valuation. Ben who dealt with my order was quick to reply giving me what I felt was a fair valuation (However, it is difficult to check in such a niche market though!) Once I agreed with the valuation, I sent the items to the company via Royal Mail. The process was swift after receiving my items, Ben made payment to me by 5pm the following day. I would highly recommend this company if you have such items which have not been looked at in years.

In early April I bought a set of six (3 pairs) of LNER West Riding coaches from Rails of Sheffield. As usual they were delivered within just a few days. However after very few days running coaches C & D derailed consistently on left hand bends. After trying everything I could think of to rectify this I emailed Rails for advice and within 24 hours had an email 'conversation' with Anthony who guided me through all sorts of tests and checks, including uploading photographs for him to 'inspect' to identify the cause of the problem. He eventually diagnosed a manufacturing fault on the coupling and immediately arranged a replacement, with return postage paid, for my faulty set. The new set arrived a couple of days later and now, after a good few weeks running, they continue to be absolutely fine. I remain a very satisfied customer of Rails.

What fantastic service from both Ben & Jake in the second hand department! I posted my working Hornby engines etc to them yesterday. Today they emailed & said they were happy to buy them at the estimated price. The money is in our account today! Highly recommend. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

What an amazing experience. I sold a Hornby train set to ROS, next day reply, and as soon as the product I sent to them arrived, the money went quickly into my account. Decent offer. Would defiantly recommend them for selling your bits but also buying products from them!

I have recently, as a long-time collector of G. & R. Wrenn, purchased several Wrenn pre-owned locomotives from Rails of Sheffield. Just about all of the items have now arrived with me, very expeditiously across the Globe, and I am very pleased to be able to say that all of the arrived items were very well packed, in near mint/ mint condition and all are fully working. I have previously purchased from Rails and have always found their listings to be accurate. I am absolutely delighted with all of the arrived items and I would unreservedly recommend Rails of Sheffield to model railway enthusiasts. I can add that recently I did have to advise Rails that there was an accessory pack missing from a brand new item I purchased from them, they sent me a replacement accessory pack without any hassle at all and to cap everything, the replacement reached me, U.K. to N.Z., in JUST 3 days ! Remarkable !!! Keep up the great work Rails of Sheffield. :-) :-)

I recently used their trade in service for a few older locos on my collection. They have a dedicated website to enter details of your trade ins and replied very quickly by email with a fair price. They also provided free, insured postage. Once the items were received at their end, payment was very prompt. Overall a very good experience.

Great Service. Prompt and professional. Got the best price for the steam locomotive I was after. It barely took a week to get the locomotive from the UK to Australia. Fantastic after Sales Service. Asked for some advice about running the locomotive on various controllers and got a very thorough and detailed response. I dealt with Shane and he was superb to deal with.
