This is a review for the purchase of the travel insurance only. I wanted an annual plan with an option for extreme adventure as I am hoping to summit Mt Kilimanjaro in August. I am an expat who travels a lot and had questions around residency and the plan. The team were able to communicate clearly and professionally and answer my questions. The website is easy to understand and to follow for purchase.

We haven’t taken our trip yet, but I want to commend the amazing service we have been provided with. Unfortunately we have had to move our trip due to regional issues and Rise and Shield have moved our policy to the new dates with no hesitation and lots of support. Thank you to Abie!

I initially came across Rise and Shield independently while researching high altitude rescue insurance. Then I discovered that the guide service I'm using also recommends them. I was pleasantly surprised at how much the policy covered saving me from have to buy additional medical coverage. The whole process was and straight forward. However, the final test, the true test will be if I have to file a claim. I hope I do not but that's when you find out how good they are. After the rescue of course.

Took me ages to find a company that made Antarctic insurance conditions understandable!

To be covered for Antarctica, just add their "Plus" extension option. Really simple! They were also the first company to be clear about evacuation restrictions (got to be from land - Ushuaia or Stanley and evacuation has to be pre-approved - fairly standard as I understand it).

They don't ask you to declare pre-existing medical conditions - they just don't cover you for anything you've had in your medical record for the last 5 years. Unusual, but it made quoting faster and simpler.

Also contacted their customer service via email and got an almost instant, helpful and friendly reply.

And, even with Antarctic cruising included, the price for a whole year compared well with last years annual cover.

Easy to obtain. Support/queries were promptly replied.

Rise & Shield had the best policy for Nepal trekking that I could find and had a very competitive rate compared to another provider for similar terms. I was also able to get insurance for cancellation without the trip more than one year out. They have clear T&C's, so you can see exactly what you are getting covered for.

Making a trip to Peru and making multi-day hikes at high altitudes. Finding and securing the proper insurance for both of us was clear and easy to do. Hopefully we do not need it, but if we do, I am sure that process will be just as streamlined.

Quite hard to find travel insurance for my trip to Nepal but these guys covered my wife and me to get to Everest Base Camp.

This is my second policy, I didn’t claim the first time but I had to cancel my trip this time because I broke my leg and they just repaid me for my trip. 🙂

I had to make a claim for a flight delay, and actually spoke to a human which was nice, and they told me what they needed and paid my claim.

You can't buy the insurance from them if you are a citizen of Ukraine, even if you are a resident of another EU country. When I asked the customer service about it, they said that Ukraine is a "sanctioned country". The customer service representative was very attentive and polite though and suggested other companies I can buy from.
