I thought spending $350 on a Rithum


I thought spending $350 on a Rithum would just be an unnecessary luxury, and maybe it still sorta is, but it's become an instant staple in our home. My wife is non technical, she doesn't like to pull her phone out to start music on the Sonos speakers and Alexa is spotty at best with playing music on the right speaker, right station, etc. Now that I've installed this, she's used it daily to start some music while she's cooking in the kitchen. She loves the simplicity. And the plugin for Sonos works better than the Sonos app itself! Minus a few capabilities, the Rithum plugin seems to be quicker and more stable/consistent.

I'm in the US and hookup was as simple as installing a new outlet or light switch. I didn't put mine in a j-box, I used drywall anchors to hold the bracket in place. There used to be an ugly ADT home security panel in the spot I installed the Rithum, there was already a hole in the drywall so I figured why not. It worked out well. I wouldn't call it an easy install, but if you're moderately handy it's not bad.

Just great

The smart home world is often an area full of enthusiasts who like to spend a lot of time working on their settings. Rithum builds a bridge to everyday life, where people are simple and just want things to work without thinking long and studying instructions. Quick, easy and reliable. I have rarely launched a complex smart product in just a few minutes and am happy about a simple gesture that transforms my house into either a warm and romanesque cozy nest or a loud party cave. Well thought out and very well implemented! Keep it up Rithum

A great product and a must have for smart home lovers and Philips Hue / Sonos users

I have two Rithum switches in my home and they work with Philips Hue, Sonos and some other integrations which I don’t use. Every now and then new integrations and features are added which is a big plus!
I’m very happy with both of the switches. I’ve had, and still have, some problems with grouping speakers which is not fixed yet by the developers. I’ve also found some other bugs which were fixed pretty fast after I contacted the development team. If all the bugs are fixed I will definitely give the Rithum team 5 stars!

Hi Martijn - Thanks for your review.

As we have pointed out in a few discussions, the "problems" and "bugs" you are referring to are not a bug, they are a limitation of Sonos' API.

We would like to add the option to trigger Sonos "Group Presets" but it is currently not available in their API.

Additionally, whilst we would like to implement some logic whereby when you are playing music, the Group Preset is automatically triggered, again Sonos' API does not provide data on whether the audio is from a TV or is music.

I hope that makes sense.
