Hi, I am Riz, and I am so glad you have found me and trusted me.
I am a specialist prosthodontist and have been practising dentistry for 22 years. I co-own Silveroak Dentistry in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, UK, with my husband and partner in crime for most things.
In my line of work, specialising in prosthodontics, which is the replacement of missing teeth, I've come to appreciate that nothingâno material, prosthesis, or techniqueâcan quite replicate a natural tooth, whether it's a single missing tooth or an entire arch. Despite working with top-notch labs and having a keen eye for detail in symmetry and colour, the truth remains that these replacements are never a perfect match. Additionally, their maintenance surpasses that of natural teeth, and their lifespan typically ranges from 10 to 20 years, unlike your own teeth, which, when well cared for, can last a lifetime, sometimes even beyond a century.
I've been fortunate to have a few patients who still have all their natural teeth. It's a delight to witness their excellent health and cheerful demeanourâthey often walk into the surgery without support and with their heads held highâan inspiring sight indeed!
In my years of practice, chatting with a diverse range of patients( easily50,000+), I've realised how much dental health and appearance impact all aspects of life. It's all interconnected, from overall health and confidence to career decisions, relationships, diet choices, and more. Making positive changes in their teeth and mouth often leads to a domino effect of improvements in various aspects of life and vice versa.
Despite being a dentist since 2002, I only delved into the world of evidence-based prevention and oral health during the COVID era. It embarrassingly all started with a casual debate on social media about children's toothpaste and fluoride with a hygienist. As I had to back up my argument, I dived into research, and because I found it so interesting and also because I had to either know all of it or none of it, I PLUNGED RIGHT IN.
While disease prevention is part of dental school, it wasn't a major focus for many; I suppose there is no real financial gain in it, as the public generally does not value prevention compared to the thousands they spend on repair! So, despite some knowledge, I had to spend hours poring over research papers to feel confident in this guide's suggestions. For fellow research geeks like me, I've compiled 500+ papers on my website, Rizdentopedia.
What I found was that dentists knowledgeable in research on prevention were often too busy or did not have an incentive or platform to share their insights, allowing influencersâboth from and outside the dental fieldâto make unsubstantiated claims. It's not uncommon to uncover research papers backing various products, typically funded by companies looking to promote their products or sway the outcomes through financial incentives. Unfortunately, I have seen most influencers have their own personal agendas, especially if they are going against national guidelines, usually financial, and promote these in the name of âholisticâ dental health.
This journey showed me my purpose: to share evidence-based dental information with those looking to care for their teeth or their kids' teeth better, sort through the noise on social media, and help people âAvoid extractionsâ and hold onto their teeth for a lifetime.
My brand focuses on empowering families with complete dental health education and personalized care. We prioritize preventive measures and early intervention, especially for kids, to ensure lasting oral health. We are against a one-size-fits-all approach, misinformation, and neglect of preventive care, and instead, we promote informed, proactive dental habits.
In summary, our brand is committed to establishing a world where dental health is a priority for every family, where every smile is taken care of from the first tooth, and where everyone is empowered to preserve their natural teeth for life. We aim to be the top resource for dental wellness, guiding families towards not only brighter smiles but also healthier, happier lives.
Riz is an expert dentist: she listened and tailored my treatment to suit after thorough investigative and detailed x-rays, studying my teeth carefully. Together with her friendly hygienist, they both put me at my ease. I had two new crowns and an extraction which have left my teeth looking and feeling great. So pleased I found SilverOak dentistry and Riz: I felt that I was in excellent hands and felt very pleased with the results of my recent treatment.
I started my journey with Silver Oak Dentistry in March 2025.I wanted to have implants to replace two broken teeth. At my first consultation with my dentist, Riz, she explained in great detail that this would be a long process to get to implants. My teeth were not aligned and the bottom teeth touched my top gum. First I would need to wear aligners to straighten my teeth. I wore these for nine months until the teeth had moved into alignment ready for the implants. This was then followed with the preparation for the implants. I was a very nervous patient but Riz was was always so reassuring and encouraging throughout the whole process. At each appointment she would take time to relax me and explain what she would be doing on that day. The dental nurses and reception staff were all very kind and understanding. Today 15th May 2026 is the best day. I now have a smile I can be proud of. I cannot thank Riz enough for what she has done to achieve this for me. Her kindness, patience, care and support every step of the way has made this experience all the better. I highly recommend Silver Oak Dentistry if you are considering treatment and, like me a nervous patient.
The little brushers guide is an extremely informative, organised and well structured initiative by Riz. I found the links to buy the recommended products extremely useful. Also the myth busters are such an eye opener. Looking forward to your future ventures.

The guide was very useful tool for us to Improve and maintain our little oneâs dental health. As a novice with little information about kidsâ dental well being - this guide really helped us with what to look for and where to look for. I would urge every parent to read this and help your little one. As I am someone who is still suffering from a bad dental health from childhood, I would strongly recommend reading this and help your little ones.

Thank you Babitha for a motivating message , I shall value that forever.I am glad that you will find it useful . tc.
I find this oral hygiene guide to be incredibly comprehensive and beneficial as a dental professional. It's truly worthwhile to spend time reviewing it and understanding the techniques and tools that can ensure your children's healthy teeth for life. Dentists often prioritize treatment, leaving limited time for detailed patient education. Since prevention is key, this guide can save money, time, and most importantly, spare your child from a lifetime of dental pain. I will definitely provide this resource to all my patients. Thank you, Riz, for your significant effort in creating it.

Thanks, Sara; I am grateful for your comment and also for letting me know it's useful for professionals. Actually, I started compiling a list to share with my patients who kept asking me for links, and it's much easier sharing a single link than searching for it every time. I am planning an adult guide soon . Reach out to me if u need any further help - thanks.
Just done reading the little brushers guide Itâs a really really good and comprehensive guide! As a dental student I learnt a lot and would be using this as a reference to guide my patients in pedodontics department. Thank you :)

Perfect, thanks, Afza. Best wishes with everything.
I am a mom of two boys - 7 year old and 3 month old. I faced a lot of problems with my first boy's teeth and had been a big headache. I had done a lot research to see what I could have done better so as to not repeat the same story again.
I found âThe little brushers guideâ as a one time solution to all my queries and I am extremely grateful to Riz for making my job easy. The well detailed crisp and clear explanations with fun filled animation videos were extremely helpful.
I highly recommend this guide to all parents. Thank you Riz!

Thank you ameera for your kind review and feedback . I am glad that you have found it useful . Yes i agree that with children especially if you have a history of decay or issues , could be high risk for your second child ( genes / diet/ bacteria spread from sibling) so the earlier you look after the baby teeth , control the diet as adviced and most importantly brushing and looking after the teeth , u can help them avoid any issues for the lomg term , if u need any further help u can contact me on my email given . Thabks again I appreciate it.
Thank you , I agree the guide is applicable for adults too , I am in the process of making a similar one for adults due to frequent requests , u can find more information about this on my website -rizdentopedia.com.
Ruizâs free guide was a fantastic resource. The clear explanations and additional videos in brushing techniques and diet was very helpful. My kids enjoyed the animation about plaque and now brush with enthusiasm.
