Solid Service from NY to CA with Minor Hiccups
I used Safemile Auto Transport to ship my car from Great Neck, NY to Laguna Hills, CA. The price was fair — originally quoted at $1,500 but negotiated to $1,220 — and the pickup went smoothly. The driver was professional, did a proper inspection, and the car was delivered in good condition with no damage.
The main issue was communication and delivery timing. I was told the trip would take 6–7 days, but the car was pushed for delivery only 4 days after pickup, well before I arrived in California. I had to chase updates myself, and at one point the carrier threatened storage fees if I couldn’t accept early. In the end, the dispatcher worked with me and arranged delivery the evening I landed, but the process was more stressful than it needed to be.
Overall, Safemile delivered as promised, and the price was solid for cross-country open transport. Just make sure to get the delivery window clearly confirmed in writing and expect to be proactive about communication.

Horrible Experience
Horrible Experience – Avoid Safemile Auto Transport at All Costs!
Do NOT use this company if you value your time, money, or sanity. In early July, I reached out to Safemile to arrange transport for a non-running classic car and specifically confirmed they had enclosed trailers available. Initially, John was very responsive and answered all my questions, which gave me some confidence in their service.
On Saturday, July 19th, I paid the deposit and received confirmation that pickup was scheduled for Friday, July 25th. I even called on Tuesday, July 22nd, to double-check everything, and was reassured that a driver would contact me on the 24th to coordinate pickup.
Well, the 24th came and went with no call, no text, nothing. I reached out to John – radio silence. Then, on the morning of the 25th (pickup day!), I call the main office only to be told they couldn’t locate a truck or driver and my car would not be picked up.
Unbelievable.
I flew from Florida to Virginia specifically to coordinate this transport – and Safemile completely dropped the ball. Worst of all, they didn’t even have the decency to notify me ahead of time. I had to chase them down on the day of the pickup to learn that they had failed to do their job.
Completely unprofessional, unreliable, and inconsiderate. This company is a logistical disaster and left me stranded. Spare yourself the frustration – find a real transport company that actually delivers on what they promise.

DearJeff, thank you for sharing your experience and we’re very sorry for the inconvenience this situation caused you. We’d like to clarify a couple of important details. First, Safemile did not charge you any deposit. Second, as you mentioned, we did secure a carrier with an enclosed trailer equipped with a winch to accommodate your inoperable vehicle. Unfortunately, two days before the scheduled pickup, the driver informed us that his winch had broken and he would not be able to complete the job.
The moment we learned of this, we immediately reached out to all of our carrier partners in the area to find another enclosed carrier with a working winch. However, as you can imagine, enclosed carriers with winches are very limited in this industry and unfortunately we could not secure another one in such a short timeframe.
We sincerely apologize that we were not able to fulfill your shipment as planned and for the frustration this caused. Safemile is committed to continually strengthening our carrier network and improving our communication so that situations like this do not happen again. We deeply regret that we let you down this time and truly hope we may earn back your trust in the future.

Beware of SafeMile and BUR…
Beware of SafeMile and BUR Transportation they’re working this scheme together! Promised me a 2 day delivery which ended up being 7 days. Minimal communication ONLY when I reached out when daily delivery promises were not met. Claims of truck being broke down 2 hours away. The miles have increased on my car and no explanation was given. I honestly didn’t think I would see my car again!
