Why oh why did I not read these yesterday!!!!
I have fallen for the scammers also!!!
So I had a car needing to be scrapped and thought I’d use a car scrap comparison site. One offered me £350, I thought happy days and clicked on to be put through to a company. Friendly lady answered and said hello when picking up the phone, odd I thought so asked what company they were. She said scrap car comparison. Anyway cutting to the chase she booked in my car for collection the following day between 10-12pm. Saying truck driver will call when he’s on his way and he will deal with all the paperwork on the day. At 11.35am the truck arrived not having called first, therefore you have no paper trail at all. I never received any email from the company even though you give your email address.
Man was very nice didn’t really explain too much just said I’d receive my full payment by 5pm and stamped my log book…. All done, although I had alarm bells, being female and on my own I didn’t feel comfortable in what I’d just done.
Back indoors I googled the best breakers scrap yard stamp on my log book to find it doesn’t exist. Panic kicked in googled the original telephone number I had called and the company turned out to be scrap compare!!
Lo and behold no money arrived in my account that day!!
Forward to today I called scrap compare to ask for my money and apparently they also couldn’t give me the full £350 as when a mechanic looked over the car it needed a new gear box. This is completely untrue, and could now only offer me £50!!!
Having read these comments before calling them for my money I was ready for this. I asked for the car back which they say they cannot do as they sell it to the breakers yard. They give you an email address to get in touch with them. I told them the breakers yard is fake which they deny as they deal with them all the time. They say because the car is not in full working condition they cannot pay out…. Funny as your selling it as scrap, never heard so much rubbish. Chased them all day for my money, as effectively they’ve just stolen my car!!! Finally got a payment of £50 at 4.30pm to find out that your car gets taken to a little yard in Hertford, it’s all a front so not use them. They are nothing but thieves!!!!!

Despicable disgusting untrustworthy company. Stephen Edward Queen (address I can provide) born Dec 2000 is one greedy man. Director of 6 companies he and his his cohorts feel the need to steal a lousy £250 of the unsuspecting public who simply want a fair price for scrapping their car. How this odious man sleeps at night I do not know
At NO COST use this company if you want to scrap a vehicle. Vermin

I was offered £250 for my car which I was assured would be paid the same day by 5pm. This is also clearly stated on their website. The driver collected the car at lunchtime but by 5pm no payment had been received. I phoned Scrap Compare and their offices conveniently close at 5pm so I was unable to chase the payment. The following day I called to chase and was told the offer had been reduced to £80. I declined this offer and said I would collect the car. I was given an email address to contact the breakers yard directly and am still waiting for a reply. The address for the breakers I was given is false (unit 4, binley industrial estate, Coventry CV3 2 RQ). This property is currently on Rightmove for sale/rent and is a vacant office suite. Scrap Compare was previously called Scrap Today but changed their name in Dec 2024 - please look at their previous reviews and run a mile

Scammers. Do not scrap your car with these people.
They used to be known as scrap-today, look them up on trustpilot to see the way they scam you.

Scrap-Compare has been live since 16th December 2024, so it's obvious how this company works.

Read the reviews about scrap-today and you'll soon see the scam. They offer a good price for your scrap car, the guy arrives to pick up your car and you sign paperwork, then after a few days, (so it's too late to do anything), they tell you that your car has an after market cat conveter and drop the price to £50.

You signed the paperwork so are screwed. This happened to me when they were known as scrap-today. It is the same website under a different domain. They scammed me, don't let them scam you. There are many other reputable scrap companies out there.
