Each month I get a dozen or more calls from many different phone numbers all reminding me that I am late, a day, a week; etc. . I know when the bill is due and don't like to constantly be reminded. And then there is always the threat sent of cutting your unit and getting rid of your items.

I had an issue with my movers leaving the lock on my unit after move out, and Self Storage 1 was just the best in helping me out. Def recommend!

I've had some of my belongings at Self Storage 1 for 2 years. Every time I go there to bring some articles home it's easy to get in and get around in. I feel my belongings are safe and well cared for.

Updated Review: 11 months after my review, Self Storage responds with: “Thank you for your feedback and we understand your frustrations. Even with proper regular maintenance, due to the frequent motion of the garage doors opening and closing, sometimes parts can get loose.”

This is the type of customer service I’m referring to. Making an excuse for the mechanical issue just shows how tone deaf this management is. Of course things fail and need to be maintained or replaced. That’s not the issue. The issue is that I was lied to (“send pics and we will review the video and get back to you”) and ignored. I was told I’d be reached out to for resolution. Now it’s 16 months later and the only communication I’ve received is the idiotic response to this review. Take your money elsewhere if you’re looking to store some of your things.

Original Review:
I've had a storage space here for over 5.5 years now. The storage space itself is fine and I had no complaints until an incident in October of 2020 that did damage to my car. The damage isn't the reason for the review however. The total lack of response and ignoring any requests from me for going on 6 months now is the reason. I talked to the manager about potentially taking care of the damage to my car. They took my pictures, said they would look at the video, and then nothing. Multiple attempts by me to reach them have been unreturned and I've been totally ignored. I'm sure they're protected from any liability due to their 40 page contract you sign but they won't even acknowledge me to confirm that. Completely unprofessional and just inexcusable for something that could have killed me (or anyone) had it fell on my head and not my car.

To summarize the incident, there were mangled garage door arms (metal bars attached to door opener and door track 20+ feet above... I'd attach the pics if I could) and bolts loose. Obvious neglect to allow a door in this condition to be used. I parked my car inside the garage, got out and went to my storage, came back to the car and entered my code to open the garage door to leave. As soon as I started to back out, I heard a loud thump on my car. I had no idea what it was but after looking for a couple of minutes, I found a large bolt by my windshield wiper. Bolts had fallen from above and hit the top of my car, bounced onto the windshield. It left two small dents in my roof and scratched a little paint.

Good units, free truck (requires your insurance), decent prices and best of all the best staff, that will make renting a storage unit a breeze and fun.

It was easy to set up a lease. The free moving truck was a nice bonus! Everything was easy and professional. If I need storage again, I will be back.
