Ich mache leider zunehmends schlechte Erfahrungen mit den Shimano (XT) Bremsen für Mountainbikes. Sowohl Hebel als auch Bremssattel funktionieren nicht mehr zuverlässig und leiden anscheinend (wiederholt) unter Mängeln - das war vor einigen Jahren gefühlt noch anders. Leider ist der Service seitens Shimano schlicht nicht vorhanden - es gibt ja nicht einmal ein Kontaktformular, noch ein Impressum. Unterirdisch.

EP8 , EP800 Motor: Nach 2 Jahren , 9 Monaten und 860km hatte der Motor einen Fehler am Drehmomentsensor. E01020. Der Shimano Vertragshändler bot ausschließlich einen Tausch gegen einen neuen Motor für 800€ an. Das ist der Grund, warum ich von Shimano E-Bike Motoren und dem Service unbedingt abraten muss.

Comme toujours avec Shimano, excellent SAV. Un technicien a pris le temps de me trouver une pièce détachée qui n'est plus produite. Réactivité et efficacité toujours très appréciables. Merci pour tout!

with reference to the assistance request concerning the ST-R9270-L (DURA-ACE) lever, we inform you that the material has been inspected at our facility.
The reported issue (LOSS OF PRESSURE) is not a defect of the component, but the result of excessive tightening of the clamp bolt.
Furthermore, rust and corrosion are present on the lever.
Therefore, the warranty claim is rejected.

With reference to your response dated 03/03/2026, I would like to request a technical clarification on two points.
1. Causal link between the clamp and the hydraulic circuit
The clamp bolt is an element external to the lever body whose function is solely to mechanically secure the lever to the handlebar.
The internal hydraulic circuit — consisting of the hydraulic chamber, piston, sealing gaskets, and fittings — forms a sealed system structurally independent from the external tightening mechanism.
I therefore ask Shimano to explain, with technical reference to the internal construction of the ST-R9270-L, how excessive tightening of the clamp bolt could transmit mechanical stresses sufficient to compromise the integrity of the internal hydraulic seals, and which torque values were measured on the inspected component.
2. Rust and corrosion on a top-tier component
The ST-R9270 is a component of the Dura-Ace line, positioned at the top of the Shimano range, with a retail price exceeding 300 euros.
It is therefore reasonable to expect that the materials used — both for the lever body and for the exposed parts — provide adequate resistance to corrosion.
It is well known that road bicycles are used in rainy conditions, and that contact with the rider’s sweat is also a foreseeable circumstance.
I therefore ask you to specify which materials were used in the construction of the levers.
I kindly request a response that does not appear to be a standard reply.

Un petit problème de led qui ne s’allumait plus sur mes poignées ultegra . Il s’avère que c’était de ma faute. Réaction rapide de Shimano Bravo Merci

Unfassbare abzocke 4mal werfer beim normalen fahren zersprungen und mein fahrrad unspaßig gemacht. NICHT SHIMANO KAUFEN,ES BRINGT NUR SCHLECHTES MIT SICH!

Concernant les roues Shimano..il faut savoir que l’équipementier ne détaille pas les pièces détachées.
Les moyeux Shimano sont très fragiles
Si problème portée moyeu abimé = Roue à la poubelle.
Bizarre cette politique commerciale assumée par service SAV.

Toujours pas de nouvelles du SAV concernant une cassette Dura Ace 11-28 ayant le pignon 19 dents dessertie du trio 17-19-21.
Cela est incompréhensible et regrettable 🤷‍♂️
Avec un cassette SRAM cela ne serait jamais arrivé.

Es normal que todas las marcas de bicis estén dejando de montar motores Shimano, primero porque no van bien, segundo porque se estropean y la garantía inexistente y encima no tienen despiece de sus motores. Yo por ejemplo se me ha roto el enchufe del motor que se desmonta con tan solo dos tornillos y no me lo han querido vender y me tocó pagar un motor entero nuevo. Ya he puesto a la venta la bici y nunca más motor Shimano. Está soberbia les está saliendo caro.

Avoid Shimano motors. Don’t buy.

I’ve had a Bakfiets electric long-john cargo bike for four years, equipped with a Shimano motor. After only about 7,000 km, the motor began losing power, then developed a loud clack-clack noise, and eventually the pedal froze completely.

My repair shop, Royal Bikes in Nantes (France), opened the unit and found that an internal part had literally disintegrated. This is not wear and tear. This is a manufacturing failure.

Shimano was contacted. Their solution? Offering just 25% off a replacement motor.

In other words: they sell you a defective motor, it dies far too early, and then you have to buy the same motor again. Imagine driving a car for 8,000 km and being told your engine must be replaced because the original one was poorly built. It’s absurd.

Do not buy Shimano motors. The product failed, and the company refused to take responsibility.

J’ai fait une commande depuis le 12 octobre. Presque deux mois après, aucune livraison. J’ai contacté le support de multiples fois et j’ai à chaque fois la même réponse merci d’attendre la livraison qui n’est jamais arrivée !! C’est intolérable, sachant que j’avais payé une livraison « express ».. Un conseil : ne commandez pas !!

Ik heb geprobeerd om contact te krijgen met Shimano over een terugroepactie van een afgebroken fiets crank. 45 min tel in de wacht gehangen voor het Nederlandse service nr, ik verwacht niet dat ze daar wel eens opnemen. Het emailadres gemaild maar dan krijg je een standaard, no-replay mail terug waarin ze naar de site verwijzen. Niet gelukt om contact te krijgen dus.

Ich möchte nicht bevormundet werden und deshalb finde ich es eine Frechheit das ihr beim di2 grx Schaltwerk die hinteren letzten Gänge sperrt.
Einfach unglaublich das man das nicht ändern kann, es ist doch meine Sache was ich schalte. Ihr haltet uns für zu doof richtig zu schalten.
Sollte sich das nicht ändern, werde ich auf Sram gehen, da funktioniert das nämlich.
Macht es einfach möglich mit einem Update und dann kann jeder selbst entscheiden ob er das so machen möchte oder nicht.
So wie es momentan ist bin ich lieber wieder ohne di2 unterwegs.

J'étais très déçu du manque de disponibilité d'une pièce exposée aux chutes (capot de manette de frein) sur un groupe GRX DI2 2x12V qui vient de sortir. Le premier contact avec Shimano m'avait conseillé de "changer la manette". Dur à avaler vu le prix.
Apres un peu d'insistance, le second conseillé a fait le nécessaire pour remonter ce problème de logistique et m'a assuré que l'erreur allait être corrigé dés janvier 2026. J'ai apprécié son écoute et sa prise en compte du problème! Merci.
