I have had my things in storage with Shires for ten years ( ! ) - for that whole time they have been efficient, great value for money, and amazing to deal with. A special shout out to Lesley - she's amazing. When I had my things delivered yesterday, the lads on the lorry were on time and very helpful. I would thoroughly recommend Shires to anyone.

Shires did a great job for us! They moved all our stuff from a 5 bed to a 5 bed house including a piano and they did the packing. They were organised and efficient. They took care with our belongings. V impressed would definitely recommend.

We went with shires as they sold us a dream advising they wrap all your furniture, export wrap when shipping aborad, store correctly then they can deliver to Spain as they go weekly.

They did take good care from our home to storage but then this is where it ends, they did not come to Spain weekly and as a result outsourced to another company. Shires then removed from the storage containers, nopthing export wrapped and just dumped our furniture in 2 outsourced vans. When our furniture arrived in Spain there was £11K of damage over 20 items,
Shires just passed to the insurance company. This was not just poor quality delivery but negligence, our sofa had foot prints on it, lost legs from sofa, and many many items damaged. We paid extra for export wrapping and insurance which we did not get the service of export wrapping.

They did not take ownership of anything, took zero responsibility, did not even advise me they where out sourcing to another company as for sure I would not use the company they out sourced to.

In the end insurance paid out 50% as they knock you down, however Shires charge in full for this amazing service, but with me delivered shocking service of which I could have got for 50% of what they charged.

I would be very careful if using, cover yourself fully.

Disappointing Experience — Check Everything Within 7 Days!

I used The Shires Removal Group for a full house move and storage, and I’m very disappointed with how the company handled things.

At collection, they used two trucks to pick up our belongings, but at delivery — almost a year later — they used only one truck, which meant everything was overpacked. One of our valuable items, a large BBQ, was returned damaged. Despite clear evidence that the damage occurred while in their care, the company refused to accept responsibility.

To be fair, the Managing Director did engage with me initially and even appeared willing to settle, but unfortunately, he let the matter drag on for nine months, only to ultimately deny liability and force it into court. What should have been resolved with honesty and goodwill became a frustrating and unnecessary process.

Their position was to rely on a 7-day reporting clause, which basically means that if you don’t find and report damage within a week, you’re not covered, regardless of how long they stored your possessions.

They should have owned up at the time — sadly, they didn’t.

If you use The Shires, please inspect and photograph every single item immediately upon delivery. Don’t assume they’ll accept responsibility later, even when the evidence is clear.

A very disappointing experience from a company I trusted to look after all our belongings.

The gentlemen who helped us clear my parents house were lovely. They came in with a smile, coped with my emotional breakdowns, moved everything we asked them to, offered to leave items for the next day to help us and really could not have done more. The following morning I realised I had packed a china bull that should not have been packed. I was told it would be looked for over the following days. Rob phoned before 8 the following morning and told me he had found it. This had meant he was up at 6am searching boxes. I can't thank him enough, others would not have gone the extra mile. Thank you.

Wow, what more can I say. The whole experience from start to end was flawless, professional, caring and helpful. The whole team have been wonderful. I cannot give higher praise. My mind was at ease with the whole moving experience.

Can't rate Shires enough. The three guys who moved our belongings were excellent! Took a lot of stress out of the day and were very professional. Several neighbours called round and the guys were very respectful and polite to them.

The service Shires provided was excellent. From the initial quote, to the admin staff and the removals team – it was a superb service. We went out to quote a few removal firms, Shires came across the most professional and lowest in the quote. It is a nervous and stressful time moving house but Shires really eased those worries.

A house visit was undertaken by a very smart man and took us through the process. We were then in frequent contact with the admin team who fielded many questions from us on several occasions, they were always on hand and very helpful. The removals team came on time and took good care of our belongings – we opted for a full packing service. All furniture is wrapped in protective coverings and delicate items wrapped up with packing paper and bubble wrap.

We moved to a new build, the team were very carful when bringing furniture and boxes in so not to touch walls, doors and ceiling etc. which is not an easy task! They even laid matts on the floor to protect new carpets and tiles.

Excellent service, will use again when we move in the near future.

Brilliant company. With two days notice they did a full removal for us, put our things into storage and delivered them to our new home the following week. It was all a bit stressful due to slow solicitors not getting contracts exchanged and sale completed until the last minute. After discussing it with Lesley, we decided that storage for a few days was preferable to the stress of not knowing when the purchase would be completed. The guys came the day before to start moving things out, came back and finished the next morning. We had to be out by 1pm, which was easily managed. We completed the purchase of our new house at 4pm that day, so we were glad we had chosen the sensible option and put things into storage. We got the keys Sat morning and had four days to clean the new place before moving our things in. The guys for moving out and moving in were brilliant! They took great care with all our goods and we couldn't fault them. What a great team! Thank you!

I have used Shires before and was confident that my move would be in good hands. I was right. From the very helpful ladies on reception to the three lads who did the moving it was faultless. The lads were polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Worth their weight in gold. Once I had told them what I wanted them to take to storage they just got on with it. Dismantled 3 Ottoman beds and a large wardrobe. All our things were going in to storage until our new build is ready and I was stressed about what we needed to keep and take with us to temporary accommodation but they guys were all amazing
I will recommend them to everyone

The service given was second to none. The guys were professional, thorough and efficient. They made the whole process of moving much less stressful than I had anticipated.

Excellent company.
Understanding and informative office staff who explained everything with patience and care. Quote was simple and again an understanding individual came to the house to see what was to be moved. On the day the team were excellent! They took into account things I needed on the day and were very caring on a stressful day. I have used the company twice and although they are not the cheapest around they do an amazing job and earn every penny. They would not leave until I was happy with all the placement of furniture and boxes. Great team from start to finish.

Couldn’t recommend this company highly enough. Packed our house up in 2hrs, took unbelievable care of everything and unpacked everything at the other end. Made everything extremely seem less and stress free! The two lads were extremely friendly. The whole experience was brilliant.

I can highly recommend The Shires Removal Group from the Admin Team, Lesley and Dawn to the packing and removal team, Danny B, David, Danny, Sunny and Jack. I have recently located from Wakefield to Newton Abbot some 283 miles and booked the whole package with Shires, packing and removal over 4 days. Stressed and anxious I was, until I opened the door to this team of great guys with their warm welcome and smiling faces. We left them to what they know best and the whole removal process was seamless. I would not hesitate to recommend them, but we had used Shires before and went back to what we knew would be a great service from them. Many thanks Shires.

Sam & Sonny did house move to apartment on Monday 5th February. They were amazing. Happy to help with anything, worked really hard to pack up as quickly as possible. Everything safely arrived to new destination. Didn’t get keys till 5pm yet they kept going till job finished at 9pm without any complaints. Would recommend this company but would also say what a credit these two guys are to the Shires Business. Look after them well as they are no afraid of hard work and have the added quality of knowing how to be / support the people they are moving. 🥰🥰

Absolutely amazing chaps that came to move us , they made the whole experience a very less stressful one ! ..very smart and cheerful chaps and not one thing damaged at all in the whole process.

Shires had previously moved two of our children. We were impressed by Shires then so it was clear to us to use them again. Glad we did as they were excellent. Nothing was too much for Brent and Richard.
A manhole cover was damaged but replaced quickly with no fuss.
