I’ve been a member at Simply Gym Walsall for almost six years, and the decline in the facilities has been unbelievable. The ladies’ changing rooms are genuinely awful. The temperature control doesn’t work, three out of four showers may as well be decorative, and the water temperature swings from freezing to boiling in a split second — which is dangerous, by the way.

During the summer, the smell in the changing rooms has been unbearable. Nothing has been improved, nothing has been maintained, and nothing seems to be a priority. After six years, I’m honestly shocked at how far the standards have fallen.

When I went on the first day, no one was willing to train me, and for the first week I just watched people do the exercises and use the machines. I had no idea if I was doing it right or wrong.

Great gym - especially since the refurb! Good space, fab equipment and facilities. Classes are good and lots to offer. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of PTs to choose from if you need extra support and guidance.

I always enjoy my time at Simply gym, I used to be a member for a long period of time but a house move has caused me to change where I workout, my brother is still a member at the Simply Gym and so I occasionally come and get a day pass to workout with him.

I’ve been using Simply Gym East (Swindon) regularly, but unfortunately the standard of equipment maintenance has become really disappointing.

Several treadmills have now been out of order for around two weeks, the Smith machine has been broken for over three weeks, and the dual cable machine has also been unavailable for more than a week. These are all popular pieces of equipment, so when multiple machines are out of action for this long it has a noticeable impact on training, particularly during busier periods.

The drinks machine is another recurring frustration. It always seems to be full of drinks that nobody buys, while the more popular options regularly sell out and aren’t replenished often enough.

I understand equipment breaks and repairs can sometimes take time, but when members are paying a monthly fee, weeks at a time without key pieces of equipment simply isn’t good enough. There needs to be much more urgency around repairs, maintenance and keeping the facilities properly stocked.

The gym itself has a lot going for it, but these ongoing issues are letting it down.

Visited towards the end of the day (6pm) was busy but plenty of machines spare . Plates were spread about and not that easy to locate but to be expected with how many people use the facilities. Staff were polite and everything was clean.

The customers service is excellent, especially for someone who has never been in a gym before

The men's toilet and shower area are in need of a complete refit. Great equiptment and atmosphere. Staff work hard to keep the gym clean and freindly.

Very friendly staff and people there. I was quite nervous on my first day there but they made me feel welcome, since then I've attended 3 more times. Gym is very clean and easy to get around, I love using the treadmill and other fitness equipment there despite me having no idea on how to use some of them.

Friendly environment, plenty of equipment in good condition. Continuous cleaning carried out by your staff is excellent.

Great variety of classes. As I am retired I particularly like being able to come to classes in the morning. The instructors are very knowledgeable and explain the moves in detail and have been great at giving me adaptations to suit my health issues

Unfortunately I can only attend peak (5-6pm)times which means almost all the equipment is in use or members just sitting on equipment whilst scrolling through the phones which is really annoying. Don't think I'll be staying

Good gym. Very easy to join. Staff very friendly and welcoming. As someone who hasn't used a gym in a long time, it has been easy to get back into the swing of it. Very well laid out.

Members consistently sit on equipment then start using their mobile phones.

Do not trust Simply Gym with your property, your security, or your money.

I am absolutely appalled by the management and staff at this facility. They literally broke into my locked locker, removed my personal belongings, and threw them straight into the bin. When I confronted them about this blatant disregard for members' property, they refused to accept any liability whatsoever.
Let’s be clear about what happened here:
Literal Vandalism: I used a locker as intended, and staff took it upon themselves to cut/force open my lock.

Theft and Destruction of Property: Instead of placing my items in a lost-and-found or tagging them, they treated my personal possessions like literal garbage and threw them in the trash.

Zero Accountability: Management’s response has been an absolute joke. They are dodging responsibility, hiding behind policy, and showing zero basic human decency or professionalism.

If a gym cannot even guarantee that the staff won't break into your secure locker and trash your items, they shouldn't be operating. Their complete lack of accountability is disgusting.
Avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of other gyms that don't employ people who break into your locker and bin your belongings. Absolutely shameful.
