I was ready to chuck the laptop out the window. These folks calmly talked me through everything and now it’s running. Worth every penny.

I am furious that SmarterBox have contacted my elderly mother who suffers from dementia and obtained her banking details, then set up a Direct Debit for a service she does not want or need. It would have been very obvious to the caller that they were speaking to an elderly person who was confused and wouldn’t have understood what they were being offered. It is completely scandalous and unethical that anyone would swindle an old person in this way. SmarterBox should be very ashamed, and I am sure horrified if their own parent were targeted in this way.

If you are vulnerable or care for a vulnerable person please look out for DDs set up on their account, or if mail is received from this company. They are scamming the elderly and vulnerable into signing up for technical services they have no use for ... my mother has no need of these services as she is no longer able to understand or use technology.

I have tried to contact the company with the email address it provided on a letter to her, but surprise surprise the email returned to me saying that domain name does not exist.

Shocking, scandalous, and sadly not the only company that is targeting the vulnerable in this way.

Worked well once I got through. Took a bit longer than I’d have liked, but they did fix the issue in the end.

Sorted my tablet in no time at all. I’m not one for gadgets, but the chap on the phone was patient and didn’t make me feel daft. Proper decent service.
