The Soma Yoga Institute Teacher Training exceeded my expectations. Liz Heffernan’s knowledge and kindness, along with inspiring instruction from Peggy Profant, Samantha, and Molly, made the program deeply meaningful. The video lessons—especially in Yin Yoga—broadened my practice and enriched my understanding.

Despite being online, the training was well-organized, engaging, and easy to follow. The small cohort created a warm, supportive community, while group exercises encouraged connection and hands-on learning. The pace, clarity of materials, and professionalism of the instructors left me confident, inspired, and ready to continue my yoga journey.

This program was more than a certification—it was truly transformative.

Soma Yoga Institute’s trainings are therapeutic, transformative, thoroughly planned and thoughtfully structured. I just completed my 200 hr online teacher training with them and already signed up for the 300 hr in-person program next summer. I immediately received all the necessary information, including food preferences and travel insurance. Soma Yoga Institute always creates a trustworthy and reliable experience. They are very approachable and quick with responses to inquiries. Teachers are incredibly knowledgeable and highly skilled in creating safe learning environments from near and afar.

I took the 200 hour teacher training in Costa Rica from The Soma Yoga Institute. The teachers cultivated a warm and supportive environment to learn a lot of information in a short amount of time. This training balanced the fundamentals and spirituality of yoga, providing a solid foundation for me to teach yoga in the future.

The 200-Hour Costa Rica Yoga Teacher Training has been a truly transformative experience. What stood out to me most was the high-value, knowledgeable content and the wide variety of topics—especially the focus on yoga therapy. The teachers were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, with a depth of understanding not just of the physical practice, but also of yoga’s philosophy, history, and lifestyle. This opened my eyes to a much richer and more meaningful perspective.

The training went far beyond poses and sequences—it helped me understand yoga as a way of life, a philosophy, a practice, and a community. I now carry with me a stronger foundation in teaching and a deeper connection to myself and to others. I feel confident, prepared, and genuinely excited to begin sharing yoga with others. With the skills, insights, and experience I’ve gained, I’m ready to hold space, guide students safely, and teach from a place of authenticity and heart.

I leave this experience recharged and inspired, with the energy and clarity to live more fully in my own unique way. I’m so grateful for this journey and the wisdom that was shared throughout. Highlights included Ayurveda and chakra studies, chakra painting, and the morning yoga practices that anchored each day.

Amazing first 200 Hour Training with Soma!! I knew Soma as the school for me when I found them online, but the experience far exceeded my expectations. Instruction was delivered with such authenticity and a huge breadth of knowledge, making it modern, relevant, and digestible. The adaptability of teaching, meeting the class where they are and allowing time for growth, was truly exceptional. Words will never do justice in describing the phenomenal experience I had as a student in Soma Yoga Institute's Costa Rica RYT-200 Training Program. This experience opened the door to new paths and options in yoga for me. It was a very well-paced learning experience! They balanced practice, learning and studying in a beautiful setting. Liz and Jess, the instructors, were a perfect blend so that we learned from two different styles and perspectives of yoga practice and instruction. They created a safe space for learning and self exploration.

I really enjoyed the complementary vibes of the teachers, Liz and Jess. The teaching approach made me feel that I understand and process it without having to study extra. The time schedule was smooth with ritual in the morning with meditation and a nighttime philosophy. Along the way, this program helped me grow in self-confidence and understand that everything is already inside me. I learned about the Yoga Sutra's philosophy and will probably go on reading it as well as the Bhagavad Gita. I like the alignment, the anatomy, and the sequencing. I love the ways of teaching made me realize how alignments and foundation is the beginning of everything. This training is amazing. It’s not only about becoming a yoga teacher, but also being just me. I am learning about myself and see the beauty of each person around me. Yes, I would definitely do another course with Soma Yoga Institute.

I recently completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training with Soma Yoga Institute in Costa Rica, and the experience was amazing. The program was unique as it went beyond the traditional scope of yoga, incorporating a deep understanding of therapeutic applications. This is definitely what attracted me to take my training through them. The depth of knowledge both Liz and Molly demonstrated, their inspiring teaching styles along with their personalized attention and patience clearly portray they are experts in their fields. They created an encouraging and supportive environment, where I felt safe to explore both my physical practice and inner work. The training was set out in such a way that was easy to understand and apply, both in the philosophy of yoga and in the practice of yoga. The class size was perfect and allowed for meaningful connections with both instructors and with the wonderful group of yogi-peers. We were encouraged to share our experiences, challenges, and progress in a safe and nurturing environment. After completing the training, I am confident I will continue to develop my own unique strengths as a teacher and absolutely cannot wait to teach! I have grown not only as a yoga practitioner but definitely as a person. This program is both exceptional and invaluable! I can’t recommend Soma Yoga Institute enough!

This entire training was like a piece of beautiful music; orchestrated smoothly, one teacher at a time shining brightly with her particular passion, yet all held together under the purpose of Yoga. Magically bringing each of us closer to our own essence. These teachers are in tune, in sync, well practiced, and deliver an inspiring yoga teacher training.

About pulled my spleen out of my sphincter. Great experience. Did things I don't think I can ever do but am going to keep trying. Felt like i got hit by a train the next day but 8 days later I felt amazing:)

Everything here was wonderful. The location is just paradise, the learning was holistic and thorough, the practices were well laid out and thought through. Now looking back through my notes after these 18 fantastic days, I realized how much I have learned. I improved my personal practice through the alignment study. My understanding of yoga changed from seeing it as a way to stretch and restore from cardio, to a holistic practice to increase awareness and well-being. It effected my relationships as I learned to gain more empathy and widen my perspective on other people’s paths. Finally, my confidence received a massive boost. I am very grateful to our teachers, Liz and Peggy, for guiding us through with such kindness, care, diligence and professionalism. They are both wonderful teachers and their love for yoga shines and inspires
