Very efficient customer service. All my email inquiries were clearly answered within 24h, for most cases even faster. Can't ask more for a student insurance.

Do not buy Swisscare products! Been three months and I haven’t got any update from my claim yet! Talked to customer service and it’s all robot !

I needed a few changes on the policy and the best way to do this was to buy a new one, Ms Y from Swisscare team personally called me and couple of times, to ensure I was able to make the right decision. She assisted me to resolve the matter quickly. THANKS SWISSCARE team !!!

Got a Swisscare student insurance in Belgium. Denied me medication saying medications that they label psychiatric are not included. This was literally prescription medication issued by doctors. Big waste of money paying over 200 euros and being denied 20 euros worth of medicines. Incredibly petty. Should have taken a cheaper insurance and registered for a mutuality instead.

I'm really glad that you responded my requested refund from my insurance but sadly I haven't received the money and it has been 3 days already, I thought the money has been credited to my bank account. The Swisscare team was very helpful. The response was also quickly and smooth. I am grateful for team they understood my situation and solved my issue.

I purchased a travel insurance policy from this company believing it would provide support in case of an emergency. When my suitcase was stolen from a locked rental car, I followed every required step: I filed an official police report, contacted all relevant parties, and provided the insurer with every document and piece of evidence I had.

Despite this, the claims process became deeply frustrating. Instead of evaluating the incident based on the official documentation and the facts I provided, the insurer repeatedly introduced imagined scenarios to justify refusing my claim — scenarios for which there is no evidence whatsoever.

Instead of assessing what did happen, they focused on what might hypothetically have happened, even though none of these imagined possibilities are supported by facts.

I am writing this review to warn others.
I purchased a policy expecting support, but instead I was met with barriers, excuses, and ever-changing demands that made it feel like the company’s priority was simply to avoid paying valid claims.

I would not purchase a policy from them again, and I strongly encourage others to be extremely cautious and to think carefully before relying on this company for protection.

Original review: Although I have purchased travel insurance from them many times, I have never made a claim. On my current trip I accidentally broke my glasses. Not an emergency so I contacted them through the form on the website to ask if this would be covered (I have one of the higher tiers of cover). I got an autoreply that it would take them TEN DAYS(!) to respond to my email. More than 10 days have since passed and I've had no reply. Further, their helpline is only open a few hours a day, only on weekdays and even then is impossible to reach. I have come to the conclusion that the company is a scam. Positive reviews are most likely fake, if you buy this insurance you better pray you never need to use it.

Update: The company reached out to me and apologised for the delay. The lady said it often takes the claims department upto 3 weeks to respond to questions however she assured me that in a medical emergency or the customer needs hospitlaization they would react immediately.

I appreciate that they contacted me although it did take a couple of angry emails and my original 1 star rating here for that to happen. I am raising them now to 3 stars. I cannot give them more because 3 weeks is a crazy length of time to respond to a query - most trips are shorter than that! And secondly I've never made an actual claim so I can't report on how that is handled in real life. Also she told me their General Insurance Terms exclude things like medical prosthetics such as a false limb, hearing aids, etc. Glasses may not be critical but imagine you are someone who relies on a prosthetic leg which is damaged while you are travelling in a foreign country and you find out your travel insurance doesn't cover you?

To my surprise, Swisscare handled everything perfectly. I submitted my documents and medical reports, and within a very short time, they fully compensated all my expenses — no endless requests, no bureaucracy, no stress.

Their communication was fast, polite, and clear, and the process was completely transparent. It’s rare to see an insurance company that actually delivers on its promises.

We’ve used Swisscare Schengen Insurance twice now and couldn’t be happier. Signing up is straightforward and the cover is very reasonably priced compared to other options. Unfortunately, I had a serious cycling accident in Europe this year requiring helicopter evacuation, ICU, surgery, and a hospital stay. All major costs were settled directly with the hospital so we had no out-of-pocket expenses. All other expenses like medication and follow-up treatments we paid upfront, submitted the receipts once we returned to Australia, and were reimbursed quickly . The whole process was smooth and stress-free — we’ll definitely use Swisscare again and recommend them to anyone travelling to Europe who wants peace of mind.

I am Brazilian and will be spending a year in Milan. I am unable to purchase the insurance and I need it for my visa. No one is responding to me.

Well. I must say I'm utterly disappointed and I would never recommended this insurance company to anyone ever.

They have zero customer support. It's almost impossible to contact them.

I've have an insurance claim with them for over 1 month.

So far, I have got zero communication from them.

I already tried contacting them.

Still nobody has replied to me.

At this point I'm not even expecting my claim to be reviewed.

And to anybody out there thinking of buying insurance with them.

YOU ARE likely to get zero coverage or help from them.

Absolutely horrible experience.
