This mouthpiece has made a big impact on the way I play. I’m a professional player, so I have always sought the right equipment. However, I was sceptical about Syos. I took the plunge and found that I could play everything as before but with more freedom. The sax suddenly become easier to play and I could play with more expression.

The Sound is good.Less force is required. It responds well. I'd be interested to know how one could further optimize it for oneself, requiring even less force, and thus playing very quietly. To what extent the shape of the jaw plays a role in the mouthpiece."

It works great! So much easier than a thumb screw ligature. No difference in tone and the color is cool. Got one for my alto too.

I bought a Spark 5 a year ago and have tons of fun playing with it. I was offered an anniversary discount (which was a brilliant marketing move) and bought this Smoky 6 trying to see how big a difference a mouthpiece could make. I must say, the difference is truly remarkable. The Smoky gives a rich, warm tone while still incredibly easy to blow. I think I am still a Spark guy. But every now and then, using the Smoky to play some oldies feel relaxing and at ease.

"I needed a dark mouthpiece that I could control while playing small venues. The Smokey 6 did that for me. I can control the volume as needed. While playing a larger venue I just add a sax microphone. Very satisfied."

An attractive object - I chose white to contrast with a black mouthpiece. My first ring ligature and it's easy to use, of course. But the welcome surprise is that the bass clarinet speaks more freely and easily than it did with a metal/screw mouthpiece. Thank you Syos.

Everything Syos has said about this mouthpiece appears to be true. I’ve played it on a few gigs and it is my new go-to. Delivery wasn’t overnight but considering a few days to make and a few days in customs - I had no problems. I got the Spark 8 primarily because I need a lower resistance mouthpiece due to a medical condition. This is powerful and very responsive using a Syos 2.5 reed and it keeps the sound and response in the altissimo. It will be better when I get back to a 3. Softer reeds usually give out up there. For jazz I've never had a sub-tone like this. It's brilliant. Lean into it and the sound gets bright but not too bright. There's a hint of grit in the sound but less than some others, which is perfect. This is a medium chamber and I'm curious how a large chamber would change the sound. The baffle and facing seem perfect. What is the purpose of the horizontal ridges in some of your mouthpieces? I use mostly metals on tenor but I keep a Berg HR around so the form factor on Sparky feels very natural. I give it 2 thumbs up.

I went to a local music shop to compare other mouthpiece brands with my new soprano saxophone if I could find even a better option for my Syos models but I could not find anything better! Spark is better when you need to cut through the band in a more upbeat song (brighter sound) and Steady is my choice for more peaceful songs (more mellow sound). I have both models and I am happy. I am using size 6 at least for now. I have played tenor saxophone for about 35 years and alto for 2 years. I sold my last soprano saxophone about 20 years ago, but now I just recently bought to me a P Mauriat System 76 II edition soprano saxophone. First I used the mouthpiece that came along with the soprano but quite soon after I ordered these two mouthpieces from Syos. And that is all I needed.

I decided not to keep my Syos MP, but I was very pleased with the sound and the service. I’m searching for the right MP for my vintage horn and the Smoky gave me the sound I had in mind, sadly it wasn’t perfect for my Intonation and therefore I decided to send it back and try some alternatives. Very pleased with the returns, I tried 2 mouthpieces, and paid a difference for the second, money was returned in a timely manner and no confusion over how much should have been sent back etc. 10/10 for service, product 9.5/10 . I may well go back for another smoky if I can’t find a better fit.

Je débute le saxophone j'ai acheté un steady 5 et je ne regrette pas !

Après un petit temps d'apprivoisement pendant lequel je ne sentais pas de grande différence (c'était lié à mon niveau en devenir :) C'est dorénavant que du plaisir d'avoir la sensation de produire un son que j'apprécie. J'ai hâte chaque jour d'enfiler mon bec Syos ! Merci

Easy to order and a great mouthpiece

J'ai trouvé grâce à ce bec des harmoniques que je n'avais pas auparavant et par le fait un nouvel instrument: mon ténor est un référence 36 de chez Selmer. Il faut néanmoins faire différents essais avec des anches de duretés différentes ainsi qu'une ligature adaptée. Le jeu satisfaisant que j'ai trouvé actuellement est une anche Syos de 3 avec mon ancienne ligature selmer. Ce bec m'entrouvre de nouvelles possibilités de jeu et un son que les gens qui m'écoutent trouve très riche et très beau.. J'adopte définitivement ce bec Merci à toute l'équipe Syos"

Bec avec beaucoup de rondeur de son et puissant. Très facile à jouer et très polyvalent. C’est exactement le type de sonorité que je recherchais depuis longtemps!

Purchased the Soprano Smoky.As we all know Soprano is not the easiest sax to master however l am extremely happy with my purchase which has given a boost in my playing confidence. Just had to order the Tenor Smoky.

J'ai déjà un bec Syos alto depuis une année (Marshall McDonald 6) que j'avais choisi en écoutant les vidéos de présentation. Ce bec est facile et percutant, j'en suis très content et il a remplacé mes autres becs, mais il est quand même trop brillant à mon goût, mon son ne me plait que moyennement. je n'arrive pas à le "mater" comme Marshall McDonald. D'ailleurs, juste à côté de la présentation du bec Marshall McDonald il y a celle du bec Dan Forshaw qui bien que définit comme mat sonne pour moi plus brillant que celui de Marshall McDonald. Donc cette fois-ci j'ai commandé un Smoky 6 comme les présentations des autres becs mats ne m'ont pas plus convaincu. Je viens de le recevoir et je l'ai comparé vite fait avec l'ancien (ah, j'ai spoilé là non?). J'ai utilisé l'anche du moment qui va le mieux et une Syos 4 neuve que je teste par la même occasion (j'utilise du Syos 3 et 3,5). Ce bec Smoky est facile et percutant comme l'autre voir même encore plus facile mais avec un son bien plus mat (en même temps ...). Que ce soit avec l'anche qui va bien du moment ou avec cette Syos 4 neuve (au poil à tous niveaux d'ailleurs), le test est vraiment satisfaisant. C'est une vrai douceur un bon bec.

Tellement heureux après la réception et le test de mon bec. Le bonheur absolu même si j’étais perplexe par rapport à la configuration que j’ai proposé mais c’est terrible de jouer avec bonheur et comme on se l’imaginait. Un vrai régal et je pense même passer le cap de m’en laisser faire un plus tard pour ma clarinette basse. Incroyable j’adore

I was quite nervous whether it would be the right one for my playing style but I was pleasantly surprised how it plays. It’s lovely and bright and plays well across the instrument. I am very happy and satisfied. It’s now my first choice mouthpiece. Well done SYOS.

"J'ai commandé des anches Syos Arcane 2 en version Alto en tant que faux débutant (j'ai joué plusieurs années et repris il y a moins de 6 mois). Les anches sont assez faciles à jouer (équivalent de 2 1/2 Vandoren Jazz vert, je dirais. Mais surtout elles sont très proches les unes des autres en terme de jouabilité. Pour l'instant sur les trois utilisées, deux m'ont permis de jouer de suite sur toute la tessiture (pas les suraigus ;l ) la troisième d'est "formée" en 30 minutes, je dirais. C'est un bien meilleur ratio que d'habitude !! Merci Syos, merci la science !"
