Took care of a warranty issue

Took care of a warranty issue with a high level of attention. Shipping was no problem (free). Good communication on the resolution. Clearly they care about the customer.

Works perfectly! Runs like new where I don’t even hear the fan. It even came with thermal paste pre-applied.

I replaced the keyboard

I replaced the keyboard. The pictures of the heat pipes for Gaze17 in the online manual do not match the pipe layout.

Tech support spent hours patiently helping me diagnose an issue on a distro that they don't even officially support. How is that for customer service?? A truly exceptional experience.

System76 stands behind their computers

After a hard drive failure on a 2 week old computer it was replaced with no problems. I returned the non working computer and System76 sent me another one. Costumer service was very helpful and understanding.

After-sale support is the critical variable, the real 'last mile'

Well, for starters the hardware is great, and Pop_OS is just what I was looking for (unity of O/S and hardware into a single vendor). But where you really shone was when I had a double-bill for Belgian customs due to a clerical error in the waybills from the shipper. System76's support stayed on it the whole time and the was delivered a few minutes ago. Awesome work.

Disappointing Support and Poor Fan Behavior, Would Not Buy System76 Again

I bought a System76 laptop and I am extremely disappointed. The fans are loud and ramp up abruptly, even when the CPU cores are cool, and the behavior is far worse than comparable models from Dell, HP, Lenovo, or Acer. This happens on both Pop!_OS and Windows, so it feels like a firmware or EC fan curve problem, not an OS issue. There are no meaningful firmware updates to fix it, unlike other manufacturers who regularly release BIOS and firmware updates to improve thermals and fan control.

Customer support made the experience worse. System76 advertises that their machines can dual boot Windows, yet when I raised problems on Windows they refused to help, telling me, "Again, we do not support Windows. I have no comments on anything to do with your experience in Windows." That is unacceptable when Windows is advertised as supported on their product pages. Even on Pop!_OS the laptop crashes frequently, the fans are still excessively loud, and the Windows keyboard utility does not work properly. Windows 10 and 11 sleep mode does not work, and hibernate mode works sometimes while other times it fails to work.

For a laptop in the $3,500 to $8,000 range I expected polished firmware, stable software, and competent support that would investigate hardware/firmware level issues. Instead the hardware feels unfinished and the support team would not escalate or offer technical explanations or solutions. I cannot recommend System76, and I would spend your money with Dell, HP, Lenovo, or Acer if you want quieter operation, better firmware support, and reliable dual booting.

Prompt professional service

I received what I ordered remarkably quickly. The build quality is excellent. The staff that I interacted with were very knowledgeable about their products. My only minor concerns based upon my experience are;
1.Frequently no one is available to answer the phone which is no big deal really as they do return calls in a timely manner.
2.The website could use some updating. For example some nice review videos review products with configurations that are not currently available.
Overall it was a good experience.
