I requested a custom trip to Switzerland from Nice by rail. Every hotel booked was awesome. They were accommodating, came with breakfast, clean, safe and easy walking or tram distance from rail station. The Swiss rail pass was super easy to use not only for trains, but for buses, trams, gondolas and many museums. I had a wonderful trip and never would have found such wonderful hotels on my own. Seamless rail travel experience of a mini grand tour of Venice, Rome and Florence Our connections worked like clockwork and our hotels were brilliant. The day to day instructions were superb and helped make the journey so smooth … it felt like we had a tour guide helping us all the time. Also tips and advice were so good.

After much deliberation, our trip was booked and sorted. All ran smoothly, trains synced well and hotels all of good standard.

Tailor Made Rail provided a really good service by speedily putting together and reserving all the trains, seats and hotels of our chosen itinerary. They provide a prompt and helpful service.

TMR were very helpful in adapting this route to include more of the places we wanted to go to, it all worked very well. The train journeys were very scenic and straightforward, riding the train onto the ferry was a unique experience. Good, well placed hotels

The overall service was excellent. Information provided on the trains and hotels was very clear. We enjoyed our trip and will definitely look at taking more holidays via rail.

Having an itinerary created for ones travel is so so useful, especially if you're travelling through multiple countries as we did. The pack they create for you has all the information laid out day by day in an easy to understand format, and they are more than willing to change anything for your own specifics. We traveled through France, Switzerland, Italy and Greece, using a combination of trains, a ferry, and even a private car at one point. They also sorted the plane back home.
I will say if something does go wrong with the journey, the advise they give is to ring them or go to the local transport authority, but I would recommend checking with the ticket office no matter what, as we called about a cancellation we faced and were not given the most useful information. Everything was fine in the end though.
Overall, I would use this company again. It was such an adventure that I simply wouldn't have been able to put together myself.

Staff are very approachable and helpful and respond to your request very quickly. The package was put together easily and efficiently and all the train connections and hotel bookings worked. The paperwork is slightly clunky and not too well explained.

Zak guided us all the way down to Morocco as far as Marrakech. He took care of all transfers, taxi and hotel bookings with calmness, patience and a great sense of humour. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely use TMR for future adventures.

Have just booked a holiday with Tailor made to Berlin. I found the level of service and communication to be first class. They did all the searching, made sure there was ample time when changing trains. Made changes when asked. Definitely use them again.

They did all the organising and took the stress out of the journey in all its stages. Hotel selection was forst class.

Wow what a fantastic trip.
We contacted Tailor Made Rail for suggestions for a trip that included the Glacier Express and The Bernina Express in Switzerland.
After receiving an initial proposal we asked TMR to make some amendments so that we could schedule some extra overnight stays so that we could enjoy the journey at a more relaxed pace. Our itinerary consisted of overnight stays in Paris, Brig, Chur and Tirano over five nights and six days and included several breaks in the journey to enjoy the scenery and culture.
TMR arranged everything, booked the tickets, reserved seats on all the trains and return flights. They even found us a free upgrade to first class for the whole journey. The detail they provided was flawless incredibly detailed.
This is an exceptional Company to deal with and we are looking forward to planning another trip with them next year.

Firstly I would give Zac more than 5 stars if I could. His efficiency, patience and sense of humour were faultless.

A few comments though:
My booking confirmation was incomplete or incorrect, my journey from home was not First Class and my return journey not listed.

The Inter rail ticket was extremely complicated to complete, it appeared that there were only 4 journeys included in the this and as i actually needed it for 7
I was very worried about completing it incorrectly.

More general information would be helpful. It would be reassuring to know that the hotels, which were all really lovely, were so near the stations too. As a first time Tailor Made Rail customer I was rather concerned that my friend and I would have to make our way across strange cities ourselves, find the hotel and the way back the following morning.
Having said all this I would be happy to travel with Tailormade Made Rail again.

Excellent trip…. Train and hotel reservations worked perfectly. Fairly busy, but great itinerary. Especially enjoyed Dresden and the Sachsen ticket, and our extra day in Düsseldorf.

We have just returned from a fantastic train holiday in Germany organised by Roisin at Tailor Made Rail. From the outset the level of service and attention to detail was exemplary. As my husband has multiple health issues and uses an electric wheelchair, I phoned first to see if the trip was suitable for us. ( Usually organisation's find our requirements too difficult to accomodate ) Roisin said " of course we can organise that for you no problem " ( I nearly fell of my chair)
Roisin planned the best trip for us, taking into account my husbands needs re timings etc.She organised rail assistance for all the train journeys. This meant we had help with ramps waiting for us to get on /off all the trains and help finding our connections. The accommodation Roisin booked was all within 15 mins walk of the station ( getting a taxi is sometimes challenging in a wheelchair ) The hotel rooms were all fully accessable. They all had accessable bathrooms with walk in showers with shower seats, hand rails,emergency assistance pull cords etc. The communication we received was brilliant. Prior to the trip whenever we phoned we could always request to speak to Roisin. We received detailed itinerary showing train times , hotels and maps showing the location of the hotels and details of emergency contact numbers should we need them. The travel documents arrived in good time and were very understandable. Due to unforseen circumstances we had to change the wheelchair my husband took at the last minute. Unfortunately the one we took could not be folded up. This meant we could not use our reserved seats in the 1st class carriages on the German trains ( Unlike UK trains,German 1st class carriages do not have wheelchair spaces ) and due to rail works some of the UK trains were changed. However the passenger assistance always ensured we were accomodated and looked after us fantastically. This in no way detracted from our holiday.
I can not recommend Tailor Made Rail highly enough. In this digital age it was refreshing to have such a personalised service that totally exceeded all our expectations. We will definitely be booking more trips with TMR . Many thanks.

Goos choice of trains and hotels

We gave the outline of the cities and dates we wished to travel, and they proposed trains and connections and hotels. The hotels were all very good (Germany and northern Italy), and train times worked well.

We enjoyed visting Germany and Netherlands by train. Franfurt, Dresden and Amsterdam were great but there was train travel every other day - needed longer between train days. The hotels used were variable two were good and two were average/poor.

Overall, the holiday was very good and interesting. We saw a lot of Germany from the train windows and stayed in fascinating towns. Most trains were 10 minutes or so late, though this never made us miss a connection. There were a couple of excellent added trips (Elbe valley and Cologne). On one day, our ticket had been dated incorrectly for the first train while the second train was missing our coach. Both these issues could have had serious consequences for us but luckily, local train staff were excellent in sorting out the problem. TMR was also excellent in its response to our 'complaint'. Hotels in Frankfurt and Dresden were excellent but the hotel in Dusseldorf was less good (very basic room with few extras, few extra facilities in reception). There was some lack of useful signage at Amsterdam Centraal station which might need some mention in TMR instructions, though it was good to have a short time to see Amsterdam again.
