Personal perspective shift

Fantastic perspective shift to see the world from a recruiters eyes in a no-nonsense fashion. I very much appreciated the "why" elements as I have struggled to showcase my experience, skills, etc in a concise manner.
Also, excellent respectful address to your audience. Though some of us are "actively seeking" employment, we are not children and your delivery was spot on.

LinkedIn: Everything You Need to Know to Get Results

The content was presented very clearly and gave me ideas on how I can optimize my existing LI profile. Anyone that attends will gain an understanding of how LI algorithms work and how the tool is utilized by recruiters. I recommend the session for anyone that is actively searching for an opportunity.

Cannot Recommend

Paid for LinkedIn Optimization and GatedTalent Onboarding. (> $500)

Was optimistic at first, because I was sent detailed questionnaires, which I took the time to respond to as completely as possible. It went downhill from there.
Communication was poor, e-mails frequently went unanswered and when they were answered the response did not address the questions or issues. GatedTalent took great care to protect their phone number so that I would have that option.
Work product was substandard and took twice as long as promised. They basically phoned it in, requiring me to do substantial work after they were done, in order to correct theirs. Planned to ignore it and move on, until I discovered they didn't even get my e-mail address correct and the website won't let me change it.

EDIT: Apparently their reply is a suggestion that I contact the same Team Member who did such a poor job of communication to begin with. Ironically, I had already reached out to that person to get the e-mail issue corrected and rather than getting a response, I got passed on to a nameless entity at Customer Service. Which, I think, illustrates my point nicely.

Sells (or "shares") your data to 3rd parties

It is not clear when you sign up that they will sell your data to third parties.

Search for "Talentis do not sell my personal data" to see for yourself.

I am also having difficulties finding out who they sold the data to (a right under GDPR) and they are requiring photo ID before acting on the GDPR rights to deletion, contrary to ICO guidance.

All of the above is my opinion.

Edit in response: I have contacted their data privacy officer who could easily have written back and said "we don't sell your personal data" if it were true, instead they have simply rejected my request and required photo ID. Future customers should be aware of this - you don't need to provide photo ID to sign up but you do to leave!

Also a direct quote from their terms:

"we may share your personal information with selected third parties, including:
...
Other members of the Dillistone Group Plc
Our various third party partners, including advertisers"

Hi Russell - We absolutely do not sell your data to third parties. The footer "Do not sell my personal data" is a legal requirement on any organisation that collects personal data under Californian law. If you have signed up to GatedTalent, we will have collected your data (that you provided to share with recruiters) and so are obliged to carry that link.

Thanks for your update and we're sorry for any confusion caused. It's not true to say you need to have photo ID to leave. Any GatedTalent member can delete an account at any time - the option to do that is in the web app. A photo is not required. Furthermore we would like to point out that our Data Protection Officer did not reject your request, simply asked for additional information in order to identify your data across our wide range of solutions that cover the recruitment and executive search markets. Our DPO has confirmed that your email did not reference any specific system (eg our GatedTalent platform) which is why we asked for more information and detailed the differences between our data protection roles with our different solutions.

I hope you can appreciate why it's important to confirm that an individual is who they say they are when they email directly regarding accessing personal data.

Our DPO will look into making this clearer when we receive an email without a reference to specific product or service.
