Coding project without coding skills, AI is so powerful!

This event gave me a valuable experience in a coding project. Although I am not familiar with coding, the AI tools offered can help me to build the website and the backend functions.

I learned how to utilise those tools for a technology projects.

Great experience

Everything was of a very high quality and it was good they way we were split into groups to allow us to build confidence as well as independence in these sort of tasks

It was a very interesting experience for me as a student interested in coding. I suggest for every student to at least try this competition once.

It was AMAZING

I really enjoyed the challenge. I got to meet new people. At first I found it very challenging, but the people in ny group and Jo really helped me. I really appreciate this opportunity to create something from scratch-only our ideas. Im looking forward to doing this again!

Amazing for skills development

While I did initially have some problems with the links as I signed up too late, I was able to join the next session after a few back and forth emails.
It helped me learn to be leader, which I often struggled before. I was able to use my ideas and creativity and work effectively with my team. The Hackathon its self was 5 star! I will be returning!

No codes were sent.

I'm a parent. We haven't had a great experience. We paid the money and when the login and logistics codes didn't arrive on time I tried chasing them. There is no direct email address, or phone number. You have to fill out a form everytime. Eventually I recieved a reply apologising and saying that the required links to zoom etc would be with us but the afternoon the day before the event.... Needless to say they never arrived, and there has been no more communication with the customer support. A total shambles. I doubt I'll see my 15 quid again. The only positive has been that my son has had to practice stoicism and patience...i would give zero stars if I could.

Great... Untill you try it

I don’t want to say this is a bad experience for everyone, but if you’re like me, you might want to look elsewhere. I signed up for the No-Code Hackathon after hearing about it at school. After reading everything on their website, I decided to give it a try.

Here's what they don’t make clear. While you get a broad theme like “Mental Health and Wellbeing”, which would be totally fine and give you creative freedom , once you split into teams, you’re assigned a very specific project, such as a “Nature Noises Sharing App.” So instead of exploring ideas, you’re just restriced, with no real creativity involved.

Right, so you’d probably expect to build the project yourself
 but that’s not the case. The hackathon uses AI to do the work, meaning participants don’t actually create much manually. A full day is spent on a project that you don’t really do yourself.

I strongly recommend researching what you’re signing up for. Their website only mentions AI, “Whether you're passionate about healthcare, climate change, education or the future of AI – you'll get a chance to show how technology can change lives!” It doesn’t actually that AI will do the bulk of the work. Googling “Vibe Coding” helps understand it better.

This might work for some people, but for me, there wasn’t any hands-on work or real creativity. The only positive was a little bit of teamwork. Be careful if you’re considering it, especially since their refund policy isn’t great. Waste of time and Money.

IT IS GREAT. I loved it. 100% recommend

I took part in the 14/09/25 Techathon

It was incredibly fun. We got access to Lovable for the event and worked in small groups to meet our unique challenges. The fact that we could even do this virtually is personally enthralling. I loved the experience and it gave me wonderful insights into what the future holds via vibe coding. It also allowed me to make connections with people I otherwise might not have met.
I admit I was nervous at first but curiosity won in the end I suppose 🀷🏜‍♀😝

One thing I’d have done differently would be more decisive with my team. And a few improvements might’ve been the better organisation of the breakout rooms, and more time :)

Overall, a positive and memorable experience
