To date, Lana and HEBS have been very diligent, provided excellent guidance and explanations, and communicated clearly and responsively throughout the process of my self-build application. I was originally apprehensive of utilising a self-build mortgage for my project, having been told by other funding providers of their complexity and potential "red-tape". However, my experience with HEBS couldn't have been further from this. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, and would highly recommended them to anyone else embarking on a self-build project!

We have just completed on a Hanley RIO Mortgage. The Mortgage Advisor, Lana Beech, was particularly helpful, polite & efficient answering most queries within an hour of them being posed. This made our application straightforward & trouble free. Lana is an asset to The Hanley Economic Building Society with her pleasant manner & interest in the customer. Well done & thank you.

I called to enquire about self build mortgages. Having never had one before we were completely in the dark. Lana Beech was our contact at the Hanley. She was absolutely brilliant. Lana helped us navigate through and was always on hand to help answer our questions….. of which there were a lot! And coordinate instructions with our solicitor.
Lana made what could have been a stressful time so much easier.

Jane Longmore was amazing. As an older couple looking to buy our first home together, Jane held our hand throughout the whole process. The Hanley Economic offered us a longer mortgage with a 5% deposit. Other banks were not so generous. We have been able to move out of rented into our first home together. It is amazing to be paying off our own mortgage rather than our old landlords. Jane's customer service and attention to detail was second to none, she even sent us a card when we moved in. The service did not stop with Jane, all the staff involved in our application were fabulous. I would recommend Jane and the Hanley Economic to anyone. Its also great to support a local business with local people. It felt like the good old days where you had human interaction and not a computer says no attitude.

Great communication, Jane engaged with us, providing clear explanations at each stage in the process, answering all our questions confirming that we have made the right decision to remortgage with the Hanley Economic. Overall the remortgage process went smoothly, enabling us to complete on the required date.

Jane has been absolutely amazing, start to finish. I never thought home ownership would be an option as a single applicant but I am now the proud owner of my own home. Unfortunately, and due to circumstances beyond their control, Hanley Economic Building Society had to close their office in my home town of Cheadle at the end of 2024 - and as of yet, they haven't taken steps to open another in the town - which is why I can't give them 5 stars.
Having said that, whilst recently having my car serviced at a garage in Stone, and as I needed to make some amendments to my accounts, I decided to call in at the Stone branch.
I am pleased to report that I received excellent service and the customer adviser was able to resolve the issues regarding my accounts to my complete satisfaction.
However, I would really appreciate if at some point in the near future, HEBS could re-establish a site presence in Cheadle.

I decided to apply for a mortgage with The Hanley Economic when my fixed rate mortgage deal with another lender was coming to an end. I first heard of The Hanley by browsing on the internet and liked the clear information given on their web site.
After calling them I was assigned to Jane a Mortgage advisor. A telephone appointment was arranged and Jane was just brilliant. Jane talked through the product I was interested in and spent time getting to know our circumstances and objectives to ensure the mortgage we were interested in met our requirements.
Nothing was too much trouble for Jane. She was so patient and caring and made the experience as stress-free as possible. I immediately felt my decision to chose The Hanley was the right one. I felt valued as a prospective client and unlike so many Banks and Societies the attention to detail and time spent explaining things was first rate. Jane was available to answer the few queries we subsequently had.

Excellent friendly staff, process thoroughly explained.
Knocked 1 star off as new account opening was rather long winded and you had to make an appointment.

When you go in the staff are always helpful and polite can't do enough for you I would recommend it to anyone

A very spacious, clean and welcoming environment very close to the Stone main street. Very pleasant, polite, welcoming staff of smart appearance and helpful and knowledgeable. A credit to themselves and the Hanley. I have been with the Hanley for many years. The Stone branch is a very important convenient facility to me and my wife and an asset to the town and community.

We find the staff in your Newcastle branch knowledgeable and friendly.
