This is a review for ‘The Latin America Travel Company’. We have had to call off our proposed holiday to Peru and the Galapagos due to the Coronavirus. We had paid a significant deposit and were caught in the position of, do we pay the remainder or lose the deposit.

This dilemma was thankfully removed by John and The Latin America Travel Company. They suggested we did not pay the remainder and subsequently repaid all the deposit. Legally they did not have to do this. Other companies have not acted in this way. They have taken away all the worry.

John and the company have handled this with outstanding ethics and real integrity.

I would recommend them for how they have dealt with us but I would also point out that the reason we went with them was that the price was the same as others but John’s knowledge and his recommendations were excellent and the flow of the itinerary, hotels, boats etc were far superior to the other companies we approached.

I will post again when we eventually get to Peru and the Galapagos - hopefully 2021.

A superb family adventure!
John put together a month-long trip of a lifetime for our family to Costa Rica. He took on board all the things we wanted to do and put together an action-packed trip with plenty of relaxing moments too. The accommodation and transfers were brilliant and we were always looked after. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Latin America Travel Company. They turned a dream into a reality and we can't thank John enough for the amazing memories we now have.

We used this company to book a tour of Costa Rica because their bespoke package allowed so much more flexibility than other companies, at a very reasonable price. We were blown away by the customer service; detailed and speedy email responses, a varied trip planned to meet our every need and a highly personalised travel guide resulted in the best holiday we've had.

We have returned from a fabulous 2 week tour of Costa Rica. John (Stanley) worked with us through the planning to put together a packed itinerary advising us on great hotels at the price point we wanted to hit, the best route to take to keep travel time to a minimum between locations and optimising the scheduling of the excursions we wanted to include with as little down-time as possible.
Throughout the planning and the holiday John responded quickly to our questions and requests and it felt a very personal contact.
The measure of great service, however, is how a company deals with issues which arise, (inevitable in a country like Costa Rica), and on the couple of occasions, we felt the need to contact John or the local agent there was a quick response to deal with our request. Neither issue was a real problem, but gave good indication of the service should the need have been significant so very reassuring.
I recommend this company highly and when we head to Latin America again will certainly be contacting them.

My husband and I have recently returned from an excellent holiday in Chile plus a couple of nights in Buenos Aires. Our travel consultant, John, put together an excellent itinerary after listening to our interests and requests. Our later requests were also accommodated. All the hotels were excellent - mainly boutique style and in a good location. The internal travel arrangements worked and our guides in the different areas were very good and knowledgeable with good english. The local drivers were all very safe and vehicles in excellent condition.
We visited Santiago, Matetic wine estate, the Atacama Desert, lakes region and the Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia. This was followed by a four night cruise in Tierra del Fuego on the Australis, which we would highly recommend.
Throughout we delay with the same travel consultant who was very knowledgeable and provided a high quality service. We were provided with a book for our trip which included our itinerary plus very useful local information and general information about the country.
We would recommend Latin America Travel Company and would use them in the future for further holidays in Latin America.

From start to finish everything was arranged and handled superbly. My agenda was quite tight, basically 8 days in Argentina with just a rough idea of what I wanted to do.

I left that with John my consultant to plan out an itinerary for me which encompassed Buenos Aires, Iguazu and Peninsula Valdez before returning to Buenos Aires for one final night
I was very happy when I saw it as it gave me a chance to see some of the city, the Falls on both sides and the wildlife of Peninsula Valdez.

The whole booking process once I had agreed to the itinerary was very straightforward and any concerns and queries I may have had were always dealt with in a swift and informative manner so I always felt in safe hands. In the weeks before the trip I was given access to my own portal where I could view the itinerary, internal flight e-tickets, invoice and my own personal trip guidebook which I also received as a hard copy. This was very useful, as well as outlining my itinerary it was packed with loads of information on the country such as the history, culture, geography and climate plus the places I would be visiting, essential language and other everyday tips.

The itinerary itself included 6 shared tours and excursions plus all the transfers from the airports to hotels. In this regard as well everything ran very smoothly with no hitches at all. The tour guides I thought were excellent, very knowledgeable, professional and friendly,all bi-lingual as the tours were usually a mix of English and Spanish speaking travellers, and the drivers too who covered many kilometres to reach some of the wildlife places.

My personal highlights included the Iguazu Falls boat trip which I probably would never have thought of doing and getting very wet in the process and seeing the southern right whales but really they were all excellent. I also liked the hotels which were very comfortable and in great locations.

Whilst in Argentina I was assured by the fact there was a contact there that I could reach out via What’s App if there were any issues but there was nothing major.

Finally I would like to say a big thanks to John and his team at The Latin American Travel Company for making this trip such a pleasurable and memorable one for me. They really did an excellent job the whole way through and nothing I could fault. I would recommend without hesitation any friends, family or colleagues thinking of travelling to this region to use this company.

We had an amazing holiday in both Argentina & Chile, booked through the Latin America Travel Company. With one exception everything went according to plan with transfers all on time and a good variety of local style hotels with excellent food.
EcoCamp in Torres del Paine was super, as was the Lakes crossing from Puerto Varas to Bariloche.
The only time things did not work out as expected was when a flight was cancelled - The local team 'on the ground' in Chile very quickly picked up on the issue and organised an alternative hotel & flight. At all times we felt very well looked after - thanks to all involved

From my initial enquiry, subsequent email and phone conversations organising the details, to the actual trip itself, I can't recommend these guys enough. I completely felt like they cared about me as an individual and not a number, including helping me out when we missed a flight in Lima. The guidebook they sent us tailored to our itinerary was a lovely surprise, and the tour guides we had everywhere were excellent and very engaging.

Had the holiday of a lifetime and the Galapagos islands are just mind-blowing. I normally book everything individually myself for our holidays but there's no way I could have put all the detail together for this trip.

Came back wondering how we can ever top the holiday we had :(

Great Value, Efficient, and Effective. John Stanley of The LATC worked with me to plan precisely the experience I wanted, at the time I wanted, and at a very competitive price. I had tried three other, well-known, larger companies but could not get what I wanted. Once the Tour Itinerary was fixed and paid, John Stanley of the LATC stayed on top of any potential issues or problems within the countries/regions we were scheduled to tour that could impact our experience and adjusted our schedule to protect our interests and experiences. One required a modest change in the plan which was handled very effectively with no impact on our experience or cost to us. Thank you, John.

All our holiday experiences were great. Organisation at all levels flowed well and we were very happy with all the guides and all those we interacted with on our travels. The Galapagos was amazing and the choices made by The Latin American Travel Company for us suited our need perfectly. Hotel choices were great and again well suited to our preferences.
We have traveled with this company before and will do so again should we revisit South America. We would recommend that anyone wishing to make Latin and South America your destination to make this your travel company of choice.

We had such a wonderful experience using this company to travel around China that we came back to them for our Costa Rica experience. John was extremely accommodating to our requests, changing aspects of the itinerary until we had a perfectly tailored experience planned for us. From being collected at San Jose airport, our transport between accommodation was planned to precision.
The lodges John had booked for us did not disappoint and the rooms chosen were all fantastic and unique with amazing views. Even the transport was an adventure, from our white water rafting in and out of Paquare Lodge (what a place!) to our light aircraft flight to the Osa Peninsula. Trips and hikes were booked in advance for us, and we enjoyed each and every one.

Excellent personalised service, responsiveness & organisation of our custom tour in Costa Rica. Pretty much everything went to plan in country, with a couple of small wrinkles. But we were looked after very well and enjoyed wonderful private guided tours with very knowledgeable guides.

We booked our honeymoon to the Galapagos with The Latin American Travel Company. From start to finish, they were great. We contacted at least 5 different companies to help us with our trip and chose to book with The Latin American Travel Company because John (our advisor) was the most responsive and all the information he provided was completely transparent. With them, we felt we knew exactly what we were getting. Even when there was a problem two weeks before our trip (through no fault of LTA - there was a problem with the boat we were booked onto), John sorted it all out within 24 hours. Once in the Galapagos, everything went exactly to plan, we didn’t have to worry about a thing and we had the trip of a lifetime!

John at Latin America Travel Company was most helpful in the extreme in organising our last minute trip; the accommodation and guided tours and activities met our requirements exactly. Transfers were prompt and efficient - we wouldn't hesitate to use the company again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Mexico especially the Yucatán peninsula.
We split our holiday into two halves - cultural followed by chilling on the beach.
The highlights were Teotihuacan Pyramids and Chichén Itzá.
Having travelled with the Latin America Travel Company last year to Costa Rica we thought we should continue our good relationship with an agency we could trust. We did have some teething issues at the beginning with the ground agents in Mexico City but clearly compensated with our subsequent visit and stay to Merida and Celestun which were perfect. Finally our stay in the Hotel Petit Lafitte, Playa Del Carmen, which was small and personal and it provided with the right balance for chilled second part to our holiday.
