The website is incredible and really should be signposted as part of every school PSHE programme. The free advice, articles and tools to identify the right contraception are amazing. I recommend them to everyone I know!

Dr Fran was fantastic. Knowledgeable and passionate, she addressed all my (many!) questions as well as my boyfriend's. Though we were well over the 20 minutes slot she kept checking how I was feeling and what concerns I had based on the information received. I felt listened to and understood and despite contraception remains a complex issue I am now in a better position to take an informed decision thanks of her competent and empathic advice. Thanks a lot again!

I'm not lying when I say I'm just feeling so relieved and happy now I've had an opportunity to discuss issues with Fran (Lowdown doctor). It was the perfect opportunity to talk through my options and concerns and be able to plan the next steps forward in my contraception.
I was made to feel comfortable throughout, Fran was very knowledgeable and talked through the pros and cons in a way that was built on experiences not just a list of side effects on a box.

I booked an appointment with Dr Fran to discuss some concerns I was having. It was like having a conversation with a dear friend. I felt safe, listened to and her advice was amazing. She was patient while I rambled on and helped me to truly piece together what I was feeling. I am quite an anxious person and she took time to speak to me about all my options, plans and what might happen. For me, understanding all possibilities is a big relief as I can feel somewhat in control then! Spending time talking to Dr Fran has given me such a boost and I am empowered about my options and not fearful - which is amazing. I am so thankful for her time! I would highly recommend!

Quick, helpful, friendly and FREE advice over whatsapp, signposting me to the information I needed. So great to have this easy access to women's health, as I often feel under-confident talking about these issues to my GP as I'm worried they might not understand it fully.

This is how all healthcare experiences should be. I spoke with Dr Fran so freely which is reflective of how safe and heard she makes you feel. If you have any questions at all surrounding women's health and contraception I can't recommend this enough! It's nothing like your regular rushed GP appointment. Dr Fran really allowed me to explore my options in depth and relate them back to how it would affect my active lifestyle which she quickly realised was important to me.

Having followed and loved The Lowdown for years, I wanted to get some specific advice for my situation.

I used the Speak to a Dr service and it was INCREDIBLE. I spoke to Dr Fran who made me feel so safe and heard and gave me all the info I needed. We went way overtime (45 mins instead of the allotted 20!) and it didn't matter, Fran was happy to chat - it's clear the Drs on The Lowdown are not only professionals who really know their stuff, but genuinely care about the people they speak to. So many doctors I've seen previously were dismissive and algorithmic. Dr Fran made my concerns and feelings feel valid, took the time to listen to my story and understood that health can't be automated - each person is unique. I have never felt this great after a doctor appointment in my LIFE.

I'm now informed about my options, and I can scroll through blogs and reviews on the website if I want to learn more. I absolutely cannot wait for The Lowdown to continue to expand and grow. Game-changer.

I had a contraceptive options consultation with Dr Fran and it was amazing! What a revelation to be taken seriously, have my concerns about different methods validated, and to get personalised and useful advice on what I could try next. After 15 years of using contraception, it's the first time anyone has ever helped me figure out what works or doesn't work for me personally, rather than just telling me what 'most women experience' or that I should just tolerate challenging side effects. I would strongly recommend this service to anyone making contraceptive decisions!

I think this service is fantastic! Not only is the free information available via the website informative and a good foundation of all things contraception, the consultation service was also great. I was given a lot of in-depth information which was provided in a clear and understandable way. I left this appointment with all of my questions answered. Very approachable staff who tailor the appointment to your needs.

Fantastic experience talking to Dr. Fran. After years of being fobbed off at my GP surgery I have never felt so confident and informed about my options. I was actually listened to. I wasn’t patronised or told what I should do but given advice in such a professional yet understanding way. I was able to talk openly about what I have been experiencing and honestly can’t rate this service highly enough. Its so worth the money to talk to someone who genuinely cares and who takes the time to learn about you and give their expert advice. If you’re thinking about a consultation, do it.

The best website for all things contraception/sexual health!
I’ve been following their Instagram for a while and found some advice around taking the way we can take contraceptive pills.
There were really detailed reports and information available and I felt comfortable to try a new method.
I can’t tell you how much this has helped me. I’ve had painful, heavy periods since 10 years old and my moods are rock bottom on my period. I’ve been on various types of pill since 15, and started to consider a more permanent surgical route, but the last year I’ve felt more control than ever over my own body and in turn my mental health.
Even when I had questions about the new method after starting, I just went back to website and the information was there ready and waiting!
I do and would recommend to everyone, and follow sing their Instagram I’m still learning new things everyday.

The Lowdown is the best website ever when it comes to contraception and women’s health! All the information are simply put, really comprehensive, and extremely reliable (everything is checked by a medical team). I find it super useful to read actual reviews from other contraception users, and with the filters, you can directly find someone who fits your “characteristics” (e.g. weight, height…) There are also many blog posts written about topics beyond contraception (e.g., PCOS, HPV…), so that everything that wasn’t taught you in sex Ed is finally accessible, all in one place. You can also book an appointment with a doctor to talk about whatever sexual health and reproductive topic you wish, and you’re guaranteed someone who actually listens to you. All and all, I couldn’t recommend the Lowdown enough
