Fantastic experience
Fantastic experience . Thoroughly enjoyed myself along with my family . Could be better organised - for example rotas could be drawn up before folk arrive and volunteers should be under no illusions they are there to work and not for a holiday . Trips organised were fantastic and people extremely friendly and go out their way to help . My 6 year old enjoyed everything - from beach cleaning to releasing turtles on the beach and helping out at the local nursery. The food could be more varied especially at breakfast .

Sri Lankan turtle volunteering
From the moment we were picked up from the airport by The Mighty Roar, we were looked after. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much. They arranged for trips out on our first two days before starting volunteering. Food was good. Accommodation was basic but had everything you needed. Went on the Hill Country Trip at the weekend, which was good, had all food provided, had a guide too.
Was a great experience and would recommend.

Medical Elective
I spent 6 weeks in Sri Lanka doing my medical elective. The accommodation was clean and the location is great - right next to the beach and about 15 minutes by tuktuk from Hikkaduwa. There is plenty to do nearby with lots of great restaurants and bars. Note that the placement itself is purely observational and we found it very difficult to go and see what specialty we put down on our application form - majority of our time was spent in the ED. There is lots to do at accommodation itself with organised football, karaoke, kayaking etc and they are happy to organise transport for you at the weekends. Overall I would recommend visiting Sri Lanka with TMR.

I had a great time at TMR
I had a great time at TMR. The staff are lovely and I met lots of great people. I spent 1 week on the sea turtle conservation programme, lead by Tharu who is amazing. A couple things to point out about this programme is that there are late nights and early mornings, e.g. my nightly duties/shifts ended at 12:30am each day. Also I did find a fair amount of confusion with organisation so we volunteers were often unsure of plans for the day. Apart from this I had a wonderful experience and would really recommend!

3 week Medical Programme in Sri Lanka
My friends and I spent 3 weeks in Sri Lanka completing the medical programme. We had a great time at TMR accommodation which was always clean with beds and room cleaned every week and fresh meals every day. The meals do get a little repetitive if you’re there for a few weeks but there is always the option to go out for meals as there are great places not too far away. We got transported to and from the hospital every day. The medical programme is strictly observing but I still feel we learned a lot. I feel like the only downside would be is that we didn’t get to see much of other medical specialties and spent most of our time in ETU but we still got to learn a lot there also. I think the organisation could have been a little better as sometimes we weren’t sure exactly where we were going to be or times would change last minute. On the whole I would recommend the experience as it’s a great way to experience something different and make friends while you’re doing it!

I have joined the Sri Lanka Sea Turtles Program, the stuffs and people I met there are so nice, especially Tharushi is helpful when I asked about the background information about the turtles. I'd definitely love to go back if I have time in the future.

I loved my time at the mighty roar
I loved my time at the mighty roar! Everyone was so friendly and helpful, especially my team leader Tharu with the sea turtle conservation. Whenever I needed help, they were very accommodating. The place is beautiful, and my room was very spacious and well kept. The food was standard and what you would expect for feeding so many, just not much variety. There were many extra experiences they offered for low prices, which I found nice. There was sometimes a little disorganisation with messages coming with updates just a bit late, but other than that everything ran smoothly, and was an incredible experience-Thank you so much!!!

I had an amazing time in Busua
I had an amazing time in Busua, Ghana.
I spent three wonderful weeks surrounded by kind, warm and open-hearted people. The house was full of life, laughter and good energy.
This experience filled my heart in a way I didn’t expect. It taught me gratitude, patience and a deeper understanding of different cultures. Busua is a place where life is simple, but emotions are rich, and the connections you make stay with you.
Thank you to everyone who made my time there so special, especially to Dinah. She is the heart of the house. Even though she is still very young, she carries an incredible amount of responsibility with such strength and grace. The way she takes care of everyone is truly inspiring. She has such a big heart, so much patience and a natural warmth that makes you feel safe and welcome from the first moment. Dinah is not just the head of the house – she is its soul. I will always be grateful to have met her.
At the same time, this experience opened my eyes to some hard realities. In schools, corporal punishment is still practiced, which was shocking for me as a European. It reminded me how different the world can be and how important it is to keep learning, questioning and caring.

Had the most amazing experience in Cape…
Had the most amazing experience in Cape Town doing the medical experience. Highly recommend the experience. I made lifelong friends, memorise and got to participate in providing healthcare to a large proportion of patients with varied healthcare requirements. Working alongside the local sisters and doctors at greenpoint clinic is an experience I will always cherish.

Medical Elective Sri Lanka
I had an amazing time on my medical elective in Sri Lanka. I met lots of new friends and really enjoyed seeing different healthcare approaches and facilities whilst on placement. The Ayurvedic medicine clinics the team organised for us to attend were really interesting and so different to home. I went on two TMR weekend trips during my stay which were both well organised and allowed us to see lots of the country. The local team Thilini, Chamodi, Kavi and Tharu were all very friendly, as were the other staff. Special thanks to Thilini for helping organise all of our placements. They were always on hand to help with any questions or issues and were very kind. The accomodation was in a good location, with a nice beach over the road and many activities organised on site. Overall I had a great time in Sri Lanka.

Fantastic experience in Tanzania, with special thanks to the team at Comfy Stay Hotel for being incredibly hospitable and going the extra mile in many areas of service. My time in Tanzania came to an end far…
My time in Tanzania came to an end far too soon, I will definitely be back! The staff could not be more helpful from the free lifts around town and the washing. Rooms were cleaned every day. I was lucky enough to visit the teen mum project run by Alice and Naomy and the care they have for this project was really beautiful. I fell in love with Tanzania and the people here and would recommend the childcare and dog sanctuary projects to everyone.

The mighty roar experience in sri lanka was absolutely incredible, I stayed for 4 weeks doing the childcare volunteer programme and was met with incredible hospitality from all the staff, who consistently strive to make the experience as good as possible for every individual. The accommodation is clean and nice, and the food is amazing. I could not recommend more !

A dream come true!!
Today is our last day volunteering on the sea turtle program in Sri Lanka. My friend and I have truly loved our time here, the location is stunning, facilities at the centre are basic but fine. We have met loads of lovely people during our time here, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and we have felt very looked after. We have buried turtle eggs in the hatchery, and seen a turtle coming up onto the beach to make a nest. A highlight was yesterday when we released some hatchlings into the sea. A true bucket list experience. I would highly recommend the mighty roar for making volunteering in Sri Lanka easy, safe, ethical and fun.

Volunteering in Sri Lanka with the Mighty Roar
I volunteered in Sri Lanka doing the teaching program. I had an amazing experience. Everyone was so kind and the kids were amazing! Chamodi is the teaching coordinator and she is so welcoming, kind and very supportive during the lesson planning and teaching. I definitely recommend doing the teaching program in Sri Lanka!

I went to Tanzania
I went to Tanzania , had the most amazing time working at the dog sanctuary, looking after dogs, and even managing to rescue one. The local team are fantastic, the drivers are fantastic, and are always happy and jokey with you, would definitely recommend!!
