Moshi volunteering, childcare

Great
I volunteered in Tanzania doing teaching. Great team, accommodation and food. Transport to and from our placements or other destinations was sometimes very slow though and we sometimes had to wait over an hour. However, Alice was incredible and always tried to sort any issues we had. If wanting to donate, I’d advise observing first what is actually needed locally and then purchasing items directly, which we felt was the most transparent and impactful approach as opposed to making general financial contributions.

Medical experience
I had a lovely month in Sri Lanka on the medical placement. Thank you to Thilini for all her work organising and helping us :). The accomodation and food were also very nice. Special thanks to Tharu for helping me and my friends when one of our friends was sick!!

Thailand Wildife Rescue Centre
Me and my partner volunteered at Thailand Wildlife Rescue Centre for one week doing the wildlife project. As a team with other volunteers, we assisted with preparing food, enrichment, and enclosure maintenance for a wide range of animals including gibbons, asiatic black bears, sun bears, macaques, green iguanas, tortoises and more! Whilst it was hard work at times, it was very rewarding to see the animas thriving in their new enclosures situated within their natural habitats after many have been rescued from awful conditions. The work schedule was very organized and staff and volunteers were very friendly. Jam was especially enthusiastic and lively! We were given a day off on the Saturday but, on request, we were able to assist with the elephant project on our day off which was also incredible. We will be returning! Highly recommended

TMR Medical Elective
I am so glad I chose TMR for my medical elective experience in Sri Lanka. Charith and his team are incredible hosts, and the location on the coast of the southern province is so beautiful. The medical elective was incredibly insightful and a great option for those wanting to experience healthcare in another system. Go to Sri Lanka
I just had the best 12 weeks ever on the mental health program in Sri Lanka. I got to experience so many different things from psychiatric wards in the hospital to a children’s home, a mental health rehabilitation centre and an elders home. I’ve learnt so much during my time in Sri Lanka and I’m so grateful, especially to Thilini for coordinating everything :)
Outside of the project, the mighty roar is amazing! The staff are the absolute best, special shoutouts to Chamodi, Kavi, Tharu and of course Thilini who always go above and beyond to ensure all the volunteers are having the best time and getting the most out of their time at TMR. There’s also loads of fun things to do in free time. The accommodation is great, clean and well maintained. Overall it was one of the best experiences of my life and I would highly recommend to anyone <3

Medical Volunteering Ghana
I spent 3 weeks doing the medical experience in Ghana. The accommodation was amazing and located right on the beach. The team that looked after me was amazing and put on lots of activities and kept us safe throughout the week. The hospital in Dixcove was fantastic and the team was very supportive in making sure you got what you wanted out of your time there. I would definitely recommend to anyone to come try this because it’s an experience I will never forget!

I did the turtle conservation and it…
I did the turtle conservation and it was amazing, really enjoyed watching the turtles hatch and releasing them into the sea. Tharu the turtle coordinator is also amazing she was really helpful and made the whole experience much more enjoyable.

TMR Sri Lanka travel and volunteer experience
My time at TMR Sri Lanka was amazing! I took part in the travel and volunteer experience which was a great way to explore Sri Lanka whilst making new friends on the trip. I enjoyed visiting the major tourist attractions such as the Nine Arch Bridge as well as the more unique activities such as visiting the woodcarving factory. The itinerary was action packed which was nice but to improve I think it would be nice to have a day longer in each place where you could self explore. Karu was such a lovely tour guide and he ensured that we were all having a good time. The volunteering programs were really fun, I took part in the sea turtle, childcare and teaching programs but I especially enjoyed the teaching program as I felt I was really helping the students and making a difference. We got to plan the lessons ourselves and deliver them to the students. I really enjoyed the meals at the TMR accommodation as I liked trying the local food. I liked being able to travel weekends as this allowed us to see even more of the country. The local team also put on party and karaoke nights which were great fun. The accommodation was nice and the local team were so friendly and willing to help, in particular thanks to Chamodi for being so friendly and helping us out in the childcare and teaching programs! I also took part in the Maldives weekend trip which was definitely a highlight and would strongly recommend. If you are looking to travel solo but want to meet new people I would definitely recommend TMR Sri Lanka!

I have just finished 3 weeks volunteering in Sri Lanka with the mighty roar doing the dog programme and I have loved every second of it ,even while sometimes it is hard seeing the condition some dogs are in it is still very rewarding managing to be able to help them every day ,

Childcare volunteering and travel in Sri Lanka
I had the best time doing childcare volunteering in Sri Lanka with TMR! All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Chamodi who was in charge of the teaching and childcare programmes. I also went on the 10 day travel experience and loved it! Karu was very knowledgeable and took us to some amazing places. TMR made it so easy to meet new people, especially for solo travelers and I have definitely made some friends for life! Overall I have loved my time in Sri Lanka and would definitely recommend the TMR programmes!
